The politicians for having no foresight or care to realize that their policies and bitterness was what caused the spark in the first place. And lastly, the media. Five straight years of pure propaganda and lying all for a man that won an election fair and square. You start to dehumanize people, your own audience, your own countrymen through deceit and hatred, expect a fair bit of backlash. Journalism is a dead profession thanks to the Internet and ratings consumption.

What all these factors have in common is that they publicly exposed how vulnerable modern society has turned. 1/6 WAS a tragedy, just not the way everybody is saying it is.

This doesn't factor in an armed citizenry forming militias all across the nation during a foreign military invasion. You can probably tack another 10 or so million troops onto the US side when considering that, and the vast majority of them would operate independently of state orders. They're also much less likely to adhere to the Geneva Convention and will probably not take prisoners. There'd be bodies hanging from the Niagara bridge dressed in RCMP uniforms taliban style within the first month.

In regards to the January Unscheduled Tour 2020 and the crime of vandalism, let's compare this to Burn Loot Murder's treatment of a state capitol.

BLM: Went into the state capitol, utterly destroyed everything in there. Anything of value was trashed and/or stolen. Acted like maniacs.

Result: Nothing. Police didn't do a damn thing.

JUT tour: Went Let inside, walked around, took photos with officers, some exceptional people acted exceptional, someone took Pelosi's computer or something (also heard someone took a shit on her desk).

Result: Everyone who was there imprisoned in solitary confinement for over a year. No lawyers, no rights, no phone calls, nothing.

What happened again?

He's probably referring to Cook Political's current projections for House redistricting, which at face value suggest the Democrats could actually gain seats in November (probably because they want you to think that?). The reality is a lot more messier and unclear.

So far 15 districts have gone from leaning (R) to leaning (D). Only 9 districts have flipped to leaning (R) so far, so the Democrats should have a lead of 6 seats, right? Well, no, because of incumbency. Out of the 15 districts the Dems have "flipped", 11 are already held by Democrats. Only 1 of the 9 districts the Republicans flipped was already held by a Republican. So the Republicans actually stand to gain 8 new seats and the Democrats only 4 new seats, so the Republicans actually have a lead of 4 seats.

One example I'll use is New Jersey. New Jersey has 12 House seats, the current setup being 10 (D)-2 (R). Under New Jersey's new map, 3 previously (R) leaning districts now lean (D) and one tossup district went from being (D)+1 to (R)+2. That sounds like pretty good fortification, but all 4 of those districts are held by Democrats right now. They're not gaining any new House members. In fact, in their attempt to fortify New Jersey the Democrats have actually weakened their position. New Jersey is now projected to gain 1 Republican House member and become 9 (D)-3 (R).

One other thing to keep in mind is that the projections and everything I've laid out above does not take Biden's approval into account. The reality is actually worse.

Not surprised it's UofM tbh, they fought against the TN govt when TN banned Chinese money from public universities.

It's also an extremely black university, so much so that you'd be forgiven if you thought it were an HBOC, so it's interesting.

Who's 'their', the GOP? Even if they have full control of Congress Biden will veto anything they try to do, and even in the best of red tsunami predictions they won't have a supermajority. Don't expect anything from them.

Axios is reporting Sinema told Democrat leaders at lunch yesterday she will not support removing the filibuster.

From Axios as well I also saw some GOP staffer claim there's unnamed other Democrats who oppose removing the filibuster as well. Matches with what we've already heard/know, probably fellow moderates within the Blue Dog Caucus. I wonder if the Dems will eventually cave and chop BBB up into a bunch of seperate bills Manchin can veto at will, or if they would legitimately rather just do nothing and lose.

Thankfully for the old man, Schumer doesn't need to think much these days. Politics is remarkably simple in Congress: if Manchin doesn't like it, it doesn't happen.

I'm surprised nobody has tried going after Manchin's family yet.

Sinema is one-half of the two-man front team for the moderate dem caucus. Manchin is the public face because he is -immune- to pressure. They can't offer him anything he wants, and they can't leverage anything against him. His kids are likewise immune because self-defense laws in West Virginia tend to be rather... open to usage. And there is no way he hasn't also hired private security.

Sinema acts more as the quiet part. Presumably acting as the end closest to the dem Establishment and the one to pass on what one faction wants to the other faction. If she comes out, even quietly, against something it means the moderate caucus is lockstep against it.

Ive heard some murmurings on twitter that people are trying to drum up support for Canada to invade. Id love to hear a military opinion on the strength of canada's military in comparison to say NATO.

I don't even say this with my typical Murican bravado, I'm being entirely realistic - it would be over in a few weeks, with Canada seeing such significant losses they either lost their functional military or saw so many deaths they sued for peace.

There are a lot of reasons this would take place but the most important is that, even in the midst of a civil insurrection scenario, most Americans wouldn't actually want to shoot other Americans, and the leafs would still be the foreign force invading, so wouldn't pose the same moral quandary. Any burgers who didn't want to end up shooting someone they used to play CoD on LAN with, would opt to go fight the invaders instead. It would also result in people who didn't even want to have anything to do with the civil war shit jumping in because, invaders.

And this isn't even going into, well, the Canadian military of today is a joke. I will give credit where credit is due, they were important allies in WW2 especially in forming the FSSF. But modern Canadian military could probably be defeated by a determined enough herd of wildlife, a la Aussies vs Emus.
