The people around them, including their wives, girlfriends, co-workers, carers and children, deserve support, compassion and safety.
I'll never respect someone for being trans because I don't respect people for having an illness or being manic or delusional. I feel sympathy for sick people, but that's not the same as respect. It really sucks that some men get this sick, in this specific, odd way.

I reread my post from earlier and there's a whole Pakistani mountain of salt in what I said. And upon reading your post, I realize there could have been more empathy in my post.

I don't want trannies to exist because I want a future where everyone feels comfortable in the bodies that they are given, and I want a future where those bodies are healthy and productive and bring joy; however, the whole idea of being trans is saying "my body does not bring me joy."

A lot of people are born in sub-optimal bodies. It's hard. But being born in an objectively healthy body that is just not what you happen to prefer?

I always go back to people like Hotwheels who are born in objectively shitty bodies. Born in that shitty body, going to live in that shitty body, going to die in that shitty body. And whatever you think of the decisions that Hotwheels has made, you can't deny that he's made the most of a situation that any of us would consider an excuse to crawl in a hole and die.

And then you look at Wedge and how fucking sorry he is for himself and it's offensive.

His problems are between his ears and I look forward to a future where he realizes that and gets mentally healthy.
