It's the natural result of "Listen and Believe" becoming policy. Any assertion of --ism or --phobia is considered to be true, no matter how absurd it may be. The standard is effectively, "this offends me, therefore it is offensive in general". Since questioning this assertion is against the rules, there's no permissible rebuttal. Add in the social incentive to find and denounce offensive things, and you wind up having everything being --ist or --phobic.
