Georgia 'LYNCHING' citizen fatally shoots unarmed black man ... Video Emerges, Grand Jury to Convene

The fatal shooting of Ahmaud Arbery -- a 25-year-old black man out for a jog when he was chased and killed -- was caught on video, prompting a call for a grand jury to review the case.

Arbery's death is being referred to as a modern-day lynching, as he was unarmed when he was gunned down in Brunswick, GA on February 23 by a white citizen named Travis McMichael ... who has not been arrested or charged. He also happens to be the son of a former district attorney investigator.

As you can see in the video, Arbery was jogging when he was stopped by McMichael and his father in a white pickup truck. McMichael was armed with a shotgun. Arbery appears to attempt to run around the truck before he and McMichael start grappling.

After at least 2 shots, the men continued struggling over the gun ... until Arbery stumbles away, shot in the mid-section, and then collapses to the ground. He was later pronounced dead.

McMichael has not been charged in the shooting ... reportedly because he and his father, who was in the back of the truck, claim they were trying to make a citizen's arrest. They claim Ahmaud fit the description of a suspect in a string of recent break-ins in the area.

After the emergence of the video, D.A. Pro Tempore Tom Durden has decided the case "should be presented to the grand jury of Glynn County for consideration of criminal charges against those involved in the death of Mr. Arbery.”

Ahmaud's family says the use of deadly force was unnecessary.

Here's the statement from the district attorney who was brought in to oversee the case and decide how and whether the case should be prosecuted.

Attorney Lee Merritt, who represents Arberys mother, claims "The series of events captured in this video confirm what all the evidence indicated prior to its release— Ahmaud Arbery was pursued by three white men that targeted him solely because of his race and murdered him..."

Controversial opinion: I'd hardly say someone stealing a hammer is worthy of a citizens arrest unless that hammer is made out of medieval-era steel and studded with 14 caret diamonds.
The value of the Hammer is not relevant, what is relevant is that the McMichael's did not have "immediate knowledge" of a crime which is the base level for citizens arrest in Georgia. So as far as trespassing goes, you need to be told by a owner or a cop to leave and then not comply which none of them are or did, for B&E he did not use force to get inside so that's off the table, and as for stealing they were not witness to it. That's why this is bad, not the fact the hammer is 5$.

The fact that they were stupid enough to on camera admit to not really knowing what he had done if anything is what makes this ridiculous and ultimately did them in.

And do you, or anyone else, have proof that hammer was at that site, that he had taken it?

There was no evidence for that. Nothing on the camera. Nothing on the recording. Nothing reported missing. Hell, that might not be a hammer. So, no. The defense never even tried to bring that up IIRC. Quit being a fucking retard.
And this is why people don't like you.

Pretending Arbury dindu nuffin and was a good boy is retarded.

You're an idiot desperately trying to rationalize what the McMichaels did by literally writing fanfiction about his life. Ahmaud didn't steal shit.

In your imaginary scenario, you'd be okay with three redneck hillbillies murdering a man for allegedly stealing a single hammer, then?

So you have proof then? Not just speculation? Whatever Arbery did in the past has no relevance to what happened. Who he was as a person doesn’t matter to the law here. The question of the law is, was Arbery in the commission of a crime - by all indications, no. Did the McMicheals see him commit a crime? Also no.

I've already said in the past two pages the McMichaels were idiots and shouldn't have done what they did and were stupid AF prior to the incident, during the incident, and after the incident leading to their trial. It's literally on the previous page.

I am A-OK with the McMichaels going to jail. I feel bad for the third guy but, and I repeat, play stupid games win stupid prizes. All parties involved were idiots. Why is this so hard for you to accept?

How is Ahmaud an idiot for minding his own business and going on a fucking morning run?

Because stopping in a shed attached to a house under construction repeatedly over months to the point the police tell the McMichaels to stop you if they catch you is not minding your business.

Charging two men with guns when they have told you they are waiting for the police is completely idiotic. You literally just wait, tell the cops what happened and the dbasses go to jail for kidnapping if you didn't do anything.

Stop it. He was an idiot. He shouldn't have been killed. The McMichaels should be in jail according to their own defense attorney. I'm done going back and forth with people so obsessed with narrative they unironically are claiming Arbury was a good boy who dindu nothin and was about to change his life around going to church and school and stuff.

But he stole a hammer and got himself shot trying to steal a shotgun.

Most of the "reasoning" I read in the past 100 pages is that Ahmaud deserved it because he's black. Didn't look like that explanation held up very well in real world court, judging by today.
You're just here to stir up some shit and didn't read a single page. Otherwise you wouldn't be saying this.
-- note to self: "Why am I even responding to this"

How did the guy who filmed the murder but never participated get a life sentence? That sets a pretty terrifying precedent.
My only takeaway from this: never record.
Without the footage, it would have been a case of 3 upstanding white men's words against one suspect jogger. Things would have gone much differently.

No, I'd say they were screwed regardless.

See Kyle Rittenhouse, who was fully exonerated by the video. He would have basically been railroaded without it.

So you're saying that his "stupidity" lies in trying to defend himself? Are you trying to tell me that you'd be perfectly calm and cool if three random hicks in pickup trucks with rifles were chasing you down? You wouldn't be afraid that you were going to be abducted and/or murdered?

The McMichaels weren't the fucking police. They had absolutely no authority over him. He had no reason to stop and follow their orders.

He tried to take the rifle after they had been fucking chasing him down in their trucks, armed and screaming at him. He was out of stamina and tried to defend himself as a last resort. He had every reason in the world to believe that his life was in danger, in no fucking way was that a calm, peaceful situation.

Especially when you consider the fucking context that this is a black man in Georgia, being chased by three white inbreds with confederate flag plates front and center on their cars, no shit he'd be afraid for his life. Panicking and trying to save your own life from bloodthirsty yokels isn't stupidity.

How the fuck was Ahmaud supposed to know that the police supposedly told the McMichaels to stop anyone who approached the house? He's not a McMichael. He's not psychic. That house under construction was not the McMichaels' property. He had had literally no contact with the McMichaels prior. They never gave him a warning to not jog along that path ever.

Hell, the owner of the house never instructed the McMichaels to prowl his property and kill any intruders.

Arbery did literally nothing wrong in this situation.

Apples and oranges. Rittenhouse was clearly a victim of two aggressors and used justified force. Those three people in the truck used disproportionate retribution.

This has just taught everybody never to get involved in things like this, especially if the suspect is "diverse". It just creates an unnecessary liability. I mean, it was their neighbors' house to begin with, they should have just stayed out of it all together. They were a disinterested party, after all.

Of course, the case and sentence were still based entirely on racial optics. The case never would have gone to court if it were a white methead instead. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

Okay.

Say Lucille Ball was driving alongside the neighborhood and she suspected that one of her neighbors took her gnomes. She gets in her Buick with a couple of her friends and sees somebody suspicious. She follows the person in her car, said person knocks her mirror out. Ball responses by running them over.

Is she guilty?
