Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

That's not a fair comparison. It wasn't the beat cops letting that shit happen, it was the higher-ups giving politically-motivated orders either on her own, or from the local government. The vast majority of cops I know (I have a fair few of them in my family) wanted to keep order but were told to stand down. And going rogue is fun in the movies, but it doesn't really fly in real life.
There sure are a lot of stories about people people quitting/getting fired for not taking the jab. Maybe police should grow a spine when they are ordered to defend rioters burning down cities. "Just following orders" feels pretty hollow when they allowed people's livelihood to get destroyed.

I remember back during Dubya's first term, a few people pointed out how potentially bad for our democracy it was for the legislative to give up so much of its power in favor of the executive. I'm sure part of it was in hindsight simply a case of "Bush Man Baaaaad" since most of the people complaining about it at the time were Democrats, but Congress has only gotten more eager to delegate its responsibilities to the President since.
It was Bush bad. They became oddly silent about this in 2009.

The ongoing mortification of Ted Cruz

(archive)
Have you ever watched a wind sock deflate until it is just a sad polyester shell crumpled on the pavement? Have you ever left some soft cheese near a hot stove and come back to find a demoralized puddle in its place? Have you ever failed to properly care for a houseplant so that not only do you watch it die, but you spend several weeks witnessing it wither, crumple and lose all dignity?

Relatedly, did you see Ted Cruz on with Tucker Carlson on Thursday night?

Here is what I will say about that interview: Personally, just personally, if I were having exploratory surgery to make certain that no hint of a spine remained in any nook of my body I might have overlooked, I would not do it on national television. If I were plucking my voice out and giving it to Tucker Carlson to add to yet another of his magic seashells in the hopes that, in exchange, he would give me legs for 2024 — I would do that somewhere where the cameras were not rolling. I know that Ted Cruz has always loved soup, gelatinous, oozing, always taking the shape of its container.

However, I did not want to watch him become soup. Some processes ought to be private.

I would take more joy in watching Ted Cruz be berated for his words (one of the few unalloyed delights that remain to us) if the words in question were not his description of Jan. 6, 2021, as a “violent terrorist attack”; I would also take more joy if the person doing the berating were not Tucker Carlson, complaining that this was no way to describe the very fine people who had so kindly vouchsafed their presence in the Capitol and if Carlson were not wondering why Cruz would utter such hideous slander.

“You told that lie on purpose,” Carlson began by saying, “and I’m wondering why you did.”

“I wasn’t saying the thousands of peaceful protesters supporting Donald Trump are somehow terrorists,” Cruz said, truckling. “I wasn’t saying the millions of patriots across the country supporting Trump are terrorists.” He went on: “Tucker, I agree with you. It was a mistake to say that yesterday, and the reason is what you just said, which is we have now had a year of Democrats and the media twisting words and trying to say that all of us are terrorists.”

The interview could not have been a more vivid reminder that the Republican Party has been undergoing a Change for some time. It would be bad enough if everyone in the GOP shocked the country by simply showing up one day transformed: new blandly smiling faces, new gelatinous substance barely holding their bodies upright, new minds wiped perfectly clean. But it’s somehow worse that it is all happening in public.

We have to watch the slow melting away of the original worried face, the replacement of the vestigial spinal column, the painful extraction of the memories. It is sickening to see, even if the victim is Ted Cruz. If anything, it’s more stomach-churning, because he is so eager and so transparent about it. He is thrilled to be undergoing this lobotomy! He tweeted out the interview himself!

There are some metamorphoses you simply do not sign up to look in on. If you had told me a decade ago that I would have to watch Ted Cruz oleaginously beseech Tucker Carlson to allow him to see the five fingers the party prefers rather than the four he knows are really there, I would have gone into another line of work.

Yes, here are the new parameters for acceptable Republican speech, and here, right on time for his scheduled reprogramming and groveling, is Ted! He knows which way the wind is blowing, and he will do his best to become a windbag that blows in that direction, whatever humiliating deflation is required first.

How is that any different than usual?
They normally dress it up, providing a just-good-enough justification that fails under any serious scrutiny but has a superficial veneer of legality which is the foundation of their rulings.

This is abandoning that outright, literally going "Oh well, the law doesn't matter". It is, to use the colloquial term, saying the quiet part out loud.

Though to be fair... they don't really have a choice. The constitutional issue is rather black and white. There isn't really a superficially legally sounding way to phrase it.

Dominick is taking a plea deal? I’m phone poasting but will dig deeper later.

Both felonies dropped and a non-criminal citation for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. If it were me, I'd take a bench trial with Schroeder just to spit in Binger's face.

$2k is stupid but it's a lot better than spending 12 years in pound-me-in-the-ass prison because your friend committed the sin of spitting in the Democrat Party's faces on national television. Hopefully a fundraiser will take care of that real quick.

Weimar Germany huh? I guess there are a lot of similarities between Current Year USA and Weimar Germany. I wonder if our Hitler is gonna come from the right or the left side of our political spectrum?
I think the next Hitler will be Islamic. He needs to be nominally brown to fool the anti-White auto defenses liberals put up, but at the same time be conservative enough for people to think he's real. Islam also speaks out against the basic problems the West has and carries with it implied violence.

His Skills were exceptional. Definitely one of Hitler's best men. The ambiguous details of his morality are also fascinating to me. Im not entirely sure if he supported the Holocaust. Dont remember him actively participating in genocide either.

Would appreciate further details I missed, but he seemed unusually willing and eager to help the Mossad assassinate Egyptian scientist's from what I've read. Im probably reading too much into a desire to save his own skin, but the idea of a Nazi Big Boss fascinates me. So much myth and legend around his reputation.

...are sparks contagious you insufferably retard? Just wow....god people cannot make good comparisons these days.

On another note, I'm seriously getting 2020 deja vu. Cases cases cases. Celebrities and politicians getting Covid (again...), the media ...oh who am I kidding. They have been hysterical since 2016. I'm getting the feeling these people are more than willing to drag this onto November.

The article is actually boring as balls, but I laughed at the link title. 'He uses funerals to send a message' sounds like a line from some old school mafia movie and/or documentary.
He should send the next one at his own in Minecraft.

What a exceptional article. Bringing in funerals and decrepit Biden together in a headline were almost too easy.

its been my impression that he enjoyed the commando work much more than he enjoyed politics, although he would continue to wear his SS dress uniform to formal occasions until his death in 1975 as far as i can tell. His rescue of Mussolini was spectacular IMO.

Thank you Obama, very wise!
