Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

On the other, it's literally a fucking subreddit dedicated to criticizing Disney Star Wars. So the same logic applies and he should just get the fuck off if he doesn't like it.
That's what I find funny. Pages and pages of criticism of the sequel trilogy, up to and including nitpicks, is fine, but having a different opinion on a show you like is now going too far.

This is the sub that is supposed to be about criticizing Disney's Star Wars.
"Guys, this line totally doesn't contradict this retcon if you take it at face value. It doesn't matter that the line and extra context is supposed to set a specific tone and implication to give this scene more weight and that retroactivly adding another Vader VS Obi-Wan fight fucks with that, all that matters is that it technically doesn't contradict anything."

"Harry Potter Fans got a reunion that isn't an actual story, but just the actors and crew reminicing on their time in the movies and fans didn't have a problem with that. That's the same thing as an actual show presenting us with cheap story beats and forced fanservice that retroactivly fucks with these character's major scenes. Having a problem with this is just nitpicking... Somehow..."

Like, seriously, does this guy think the Friends Reunion is basically the same as another episode of Friends?

I've seen the first two episodes of Boba Fett because of my husband. He's still trying to care about Star Wars, bless him. lol.

Part of him still trying to care is entirely my fault, though. I got him to watch the Clone Wars series last year and gifted him the Thrawn Trilogy, and it roped him back into it all.

Anyway, The Book of Boba Fett is boring so far. Why? Because Disney is trying to make him out to be this "good guy at heart" when he's supposed to be a merc who will do anything for a paycheck. I don't want to watch a show about a "noble" Boba Fett who fights over the plight of indiginous people, for crying out loud.

In the second episode, Boba Fett gets into a bar fight that incorporated some subpar choreography. I couldn't help but to compare it to the first scene in The Mandalorian. The first scene of The Mandalorian perfectly set the tone for the series and it immediately grabbed my attention. The second Mando pulled out his gun like he was in a western, I was invested.

Seems a bit nitpicky to split hairs over the new city. Maybe Bib was big into city construction? its a meh issue for me.

I Kinda dig it. EU Boba got more and more noble as time went on didn't he?

With the exception of Travis bullshit; Fett was consistently an independent bounty hunter that was straight lawful neutral. He never would have established a crime syndicate.

But please tell me more about how much you like marvelized Star Wars. What was your favorite part? Was it the quipping from serious characters or the nonsensical fight scenes?

I don't know about the post-Vong War EU stuff regarding Boba Fett that probably ruined the character building done in short stories and the comics and the Han Solo and Bounty Hunter War trilogies, but Boba Fett never came off as a noble character to me, unless strictly sticking to your principles (some of which were morally admirable, many were not) is noble

The two short stories where he did kinda come off as noble were one set when he was an old man which presumably got retconned out of canon by the post-Vong novels, and a throwaway encounter with an old bounty (who actually got away the first time) that I assumed Boba let him go because the bounty was no longer active

It needs Boba Fett falling into the Sarlacc and surviving

He'll get the idea to be a crime lord from somewhere in the flashbacks. Time will tell if the idea has any merit or if its half assed.

The Spa memes for book of boba have been pretty funny in all honesty.

EU Boba is somewhat of a sad character. His daughter died at Jacen Solo’s hands, his lover/wife I think ended up dying/or getting frozen(IIRC), he got banished from Mandalore, and he didn’t have the best relationship(if any) with Mirta(his granddaughter).

Ruling Mandalore was itself a burden he took, and the Mandalorians did come out somewhat stronger after the Vong war-due to the Vong bombardment leaving gashes in the planet’s crust that allowed exploitation of minerals.

I wouldn’t say he was a noble character, so much as occasional ally of the protagonists who endured his own burdens, losses, and never seemed to find the peace he sought.

I could go into defending Traviss's portrayal of Boba, but that would take a while. So I'm just going to say that by the time all that stuff in LotF happens, he's old. And that's what I think people need to remember. He's like 70 years old at that point and he's been through a lot of shit. People change over all that time and by the time LotF started he hadn't really been seen for like 10 years in the EU timeline.

Dave Filoni killed off Maul in Rebels so he’s dead For Real™ at Boba Fat’s point in the timeline.
I think they're saving Maul for the Obi-Wan show or the rumored "Crimson Dawn" show starring not-Bria.

Essentially, "with age comes patience and/or wisdom" and all that. But even then he still comes off as a self-centered douchebag except when his granddaughter is involved, so its a believable old Boba.

I don't think that the post-Vong writers ruined Boba or caused inconsistencies, but rather that they transferred and flanderized his character traits (mainly conservative views, arrogance and family obsession) onto an entire culture which already had a distinct cultural identity to the point where they were all now cosplaying as him like this were the 80s, which honestly only works well in LotF where Boba is a big shot elder among them now so his influence could rub off on them, in contrast to the RC shit. In LotF at least, old Boba is still an asshole you can hate, while in Book of Boba Fett you're expected to accept that this guy has a silly heart of gold deep down.

I think its less that post-Vong ruined Boba or caused inconsistencies, and more that they flanderized his character traits (mainly conservative views, arrogance and family obsession) onto an entire culture which already had a distinct cultural identity to the point where they were all now cosplaying as him like this were the 80s, which honestly only works well in LotF where Boba is a big shot elder among them now so his influence could rub off on them, in contrast to the RC shit. Not reopening the Traviss can of shit. But..even though he was out of character there; he still wasn't so far out that he unironically talked about respect.

EU Boba Fett is Betty White.

Boba also trains Jaina for a few weeks, and serves as one of Traviss's anti Jedi mouthpieces. She in the next book never uses these kewl anti jedi techniques, and Caedus wastes Mando super commandoes without breaking a sweat, when in Traviss' book they kneecap him.

So that happened.
