I want to share my experience of going on holiday to see the family of my son's dad. Some of you may remember I was threatened with having to "pay back my gift" of the flights if I did not get vaccinated, and my decision to not be vaccinated had to be talked over with his grandmother (who paid) and his mother (whom we were staying with and is a paramedic) in order to even stay there.

I decide to not be vaccinated and tell nobody. I take my rapid test the day before we fly. I show my phone to the check-in lady at the airport. His grandmother suspects nothing.

Towards the end of the trip, I tell my son's dad that I need to go to a chemist in town to get a test so I can go home. He goes downstairs and says I need to go to a chemist and will need to borrow a car. His mother and grandmother are perplexed as it is a public holiday, and enquire about what needs doing.

He says I am unvaccinated and need a negative test to fly. Mother and grandmother are SHOCKED and OUTRAGED and I can hear them tutting about how fucked off they are at me through the bedroom window where I am upstairs.

I go downstairs to leave and they won't look at me. They don't know I've heard. I climb in the car and son's dad immediately sets onto me about how I've ruined the holiday with bad vibes and how I ruined their trust by hiding my vaccination status lmao. I was like "I've done literally nothing wrong, they have no right to ask about my vaccination status when it doesn't affect them, your grandmother lied about coming into contact with covid positive people to the airline and to your mother so she could fly, and I had to prove I don't have COVID to travel whereas you two didn't, so fuck off."

He kept sputtering about me ruining it and I insisted I did nothing wrong and it's their choice to have a problem with my decision that has nothing to do with them.

They did not confront me upon returning home. That was telling. I really thought they were going to but instead opted to be passive aggressive and prickly with me.

His mother basically ignored me for the rest of the holiday, didn't look at me or say goodbye after I tried to say thank you for having us, and I discovered once boarding the plane that she had unfriended me.

His grandmother has not spoken to me since New Years Eve and was very brittle on the trip home, including looking away and sniffing indignantly when I showed the check-in lady the negative test result on my phone.

I have a 5 year old daughter. She's gone through this shit pretty well. She hates masks and I don't make her wear them. Unfortunately the other half of thr 50/50 split is a Branch Covidian. Who has told me because of Omicron my daughter (age 5) HAS to get the jab. I won't call it a vaccination because I know already it's not a vaccination.

This is the kicker. My daughter has already had Delta COVID. She coughed and sniffled for a few days, threw up in school, got diagnosed and went into State mandated quarantine. I should add I was the one who supervised the quarantine incidentally. She was perfectly fine

But now I am being ganged up on with the pediatrician who also wants to give the jab. I have a meeting tomorrow where I either have to hold my ground or surrender.

My abiding concerns are thus.

My daughter has natural immunity already. Okay says I, but the pediatrician says adding the jab makes the immunity even better!

But the jab is not sequenced to Omicron, and when I asked what it was sequenced for I was told it was Sars-COV-2-Wuhan, not the Omicron variant.

My second concern is that natural immunity reacts very badly to the Pfizer Jab specifically. I am not sure why, but I believe it's because the memory T and B immune cells freak out and think a virus pulled a fast one on them and trigger a cytokene storm.

My third concern is that if my daughter gets the jab, she won't develop natural immunity to this shit show while she is young and healthy.

My fourth concern is philosophical in that I don't believe 5 year Olds need to be put on the front line for the benefit of society. Which is essentially what the pediatrician said. We don't want kids being a reservoir for the virus.

And my fifth concern is the Pfizer jab is pointless. Like all Cold viruses before it, the Kung Flu has evolved faster then we can keep up.

Am I off base here? I have to go to the mat tomorrow.

I would treat it as a negotiation, which means you want to take control of the terms of the discussion early, and I would suggest you want to force the discussion to be about vaccine risk, and you want to put the paediatrician on the defensive by asking him directly to guarantee there is no possible negative consequence from the vaccine. Obviously he honestly can't, if he's dishonest you can bring up all the real stories of vaccine injury to show its a non zero risk and, and then the discussion can be pivoted to why we're volunteering a 5 year old to any avoidable risk.

That said I doubt we're in the land of reason, so showing at least you have a credible objection is valuable its going to come down to hard power and there you'll be better placed talking to a lawyer than a doctor

Dooming aside this won't happen, at least in Alberta. The UCP actually removed the provincial ability to mandate vaccinations last year and Kenney has a leadership convention in a few months. I thought I posted about my period after the first shot but I can't find the post now. My period became worse after getting the first shot in June 2021. I'm on a type of birth control pill that typically makes your period shorter or stops them entirely--this was true in the first months I started taking it. I switched from a combination pill to a progesterone-only pill in 2020 because my blood pressure was through the roof (after being incredibly sick for a month with what I believe to be OG COVID). My period became extremely light and short after starting the new pill. Once I got the first shot, however, it turned into what my period was like when I was very young. Extremely bad cramps, heavy, and a week long, coming at very irregular times. It hasn't changed since June '21 despite being on the same pill.

This is what sold me on not getting the second shot. The flu shot has made my period start early in the past but it always went back to normal. Menstruation is fucked up and the littlest thing can make it come late or early, but in over 2 decades of menstruating I've very, very rarely experienced anything like what I have since getting the first Moderna jab. I don't want to get too TMI but I feel like my reproductive organs are completely fucked up now.

Hopefully not, I admire your strength of character not getting a second jab. IIRC the damage the shots do is multipled with each shot, stopping at one will minimize the damage. God Bless you I hope he heals you.

At worst, it's an unnecessary health risk, that could be considerably more dangerous than they're letting on. Based on hospitalizations for the province, the rate of vaxxed vs. unvaxxed is about 3X higher, in favour of vaxxed (about 1300 vaxxed, to 350 unvaxxed). Obviously, that could easily be explained by the fact that there are simply more vaxxed than unvaxxed. Looking at the ICU stats reveal that, in the whole province, there are approx. 240 Covid patients in the ICU. About 120 are unvaxxed, about 105 are vaxxed, and the remainder are single jabbed. Looking at it in a pie chart really puts it into perspective: it's nearly a 50/50 rate of unvaxxed vs. vaxxed in the ICU. You could literally toss a coin to determine if someone will end up there. Looks like every single person losing their minds about how the unvaxxed are stealing all the ICU beds is either purposely trying to misinform people, or an uninformed fool. This is the kicker. My daughter has already had Delta COVID. She coughed and sniffled for a few days, threw up in school, got diagnosed and went into State mandated quarantine. I should add I was the one who supervised the quarantine incidentally. She was perfectly fine

But now I am being ganged up on with the pediatrician who also wants to give the jab. I have a meeting tomorrow where I either have to hold my ground or surrender.

My abiding concerns are thus.

My daughter has natural immunity already. Okay says I, but the pediatrician says adding the jab makes the immunity even better!

But the jab is not sequenced to Omicron, and when I asked what it was sequenced for I was told it was Sars-COV-2-Wuhan, not the Omicron variant.

My second concern is that natural immunity reacts very badly to the Pfizer Jab specifically. I am not sure why, but I believe it's because the memory T and B immune cells freak out and think a virus pulled a fast one on them and trigger a cytokene storm.

My third concern is that if my daughter gets the jab, she won't develop natural immunity to this shit show while she is young and healthy.

My fourth concern is philosophical in that I don't believe 5 year Olds need to be put on the front line for the benefit of society. Which is essentially what the pediatrician said. We don't want kids being a reservoir for the virus.

And my fifth concern is the Pfizer jab is pointless. Like all Cold viruses before it, the Kung Flu has evolved faster then we can keep up.

Am I off base here? I have to go to the mat tomorrow.

If they are gonna fuck with your kid you gotta compromise. The risks of the jab are nothing. Just barely less than the virus for kids. So, nothing. Tempest in a teapot. A carefully framed trap.

Understand that everyone is all pissy about mandates and vaccines and shit is because of the heavy-handed government response. The bullshit policy and messaging and "science". The throwing under the bus of masses of people to assuage unfounded fears of the coof by a select political class. The machine (see above) then reframed the valid arguments about government overreach to be about masks and then vaccines.

But, from the start, we were arguing about the meaning of it all. "Where does this end" is the question on everyone's lips.

Losing your kid over some big stand you feel you need to make in some specific detail about that over-arching issue? Ain't worth it. Compromise. Covidians can go die on the next much larger hill that we are at the base of, acceptance that it is endemic. That is the summit. You will get your own back if you play your hand right.

She was waiting for her results, but the ER people believe she died from complications. She was 90, in poor shape with several different things wrong with her. Not gonna go on a spergout about getting vaccinated or not.
Just tell your family members you love them.

For the first time since this all started, I actually know someone who has covid. Best friend who lives in a different state started having a cough and chills on Thursday. Says he really felt like shit Friday with a mild fever and what he described as a sinus infection and fatigue. Did a home test and came up positive.

Tonight he's doing fine. Has some residual cough but otherwise doing well. All the inflammation was in the throat and sinuses. No lung involvement at all. He's unvaxxed, mid 50's with properly managed comorbidities. His overall description is that the symptoms came on quickly and then subsided just as fast. Basically a three day event not much worse than any other cold he's had.

I know a fair amount of people who "died from Covid." I frequently wonder how many were due to shitty hospital care.

Whelp my dad tested positive for Covid omincron today. and since I live with him, I'm most likely infected too. No symptoms yet, I only have the first dose of the Moderna Vaccine. He is fully vaccinated and he just tested positive today, he's been using wipes with everything he touches and keeps his mask on. He's been coughing but mild symptoms overall. Considering the fact that shit spreads fast and in the air, I leave my room with double mask's and I keep Clorox wipes with me. It doesn't help that my mom and sister live here in this small apartment with 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms. My dad uses his own bathroom and the rest of us use the other. I'm positive the rest of us are infected but we just have to wait and see. He's been instructed to get tested again after a week. Seeing the news of omincron for the last 4 days. I knew this shit was gonna happen.

You and your family are ridiculous. Particularly you. You said you had one dose of the vax. That should keep you safe. Don't you believe in the vax? Why aren't you trusting the science?

So today the mother in law, double jabbed, started complaining of a headache and sore throat, did the spit test and she's positive. She's been staying with us so the missus decided to test the kids, one is positive the other two negative. Got the stink eye from the wife who insisted I take yet another test and I'm still negative. Daughter is fine zero symptoms so far.

We will heroically struggle through. Hopefully our loved ones will survive a dose of the sniffles but thoughts and prayers.

Well that's because to the all-knowing Experts who inform all good public policy, we are indeed young children compared to their all-knowing wisdom and interpretation of The Science.

I picked up the local newspaper and they had a whole section devoted to why it was so, so important to get little kids vaccinated. It was a surreal experience reading it. Apparently getting the little ones jab will protect them from the long Covid, will reduce transmission, will stop them suffering rare but serious reaction to the virus. It's like Omicron isn't a thing. At this point I can only assume that there's some kind of contractual obligation to carry on administering this useless shit.

So these weird periods very well COULD be the first sign of POI, and if that is the case, we will see mass infertility manifesting in a more obvious way in 2-5 years.

This is very similar to the timeline for myocarditis fatalities.
