Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Jesus Christ, I duck out of the Star Wars franchise for a few months, and I come back to Boba Fett getting into autistic shenanigans with Tusken Raiders, refusing to torture people, fawning over a pet Rancor, and recruiting a hipster biker gang riding what looks like literal Fisher Price toys.

I didn't think that there was a way for this franchise to get worse, but it seems like "television budget" is the new scalpel Disney is using to deface what little of it is left.

Some of you might've noticed that I've been uncharacteristically absent from these forums as of late, reducing my presence to mere lurker...but believe me, I've been watching. I've seen it all: the shitty SW Hotel, Boba's Obese Escapades over the Tatooine Sands, Quantic Dream's upcoming trainwreck, all of it.

And I've been meaning to stop by and comment on it, but the honest truth is that coming off Crucible, I started having massive Star Wars burnout, and needed to step away to focus on other hobbies (not least of which included a first-time binge-read of all of X-Men...which yes, contrary to what my avatar may suggest, is something I have zero familiarity with).

But break's over, my capeshit escapades are done, and it looks like the franchise is entering newer, shittier territory...and I'll be here to chronicle all of it. So consider this my comeback, motherfuckers.

P.S. Yes, I will be continuing my coverage of Legacy (since I took a break from that as well), so expect a mega shitpost in the next few days.
People come, people go. I’m only here for the Boba shitposting, I want to commemorate the demise of my favourite character with fellow shitlords.

I know nothing of the show, but this Twitter thread was a fun read.

Also, everyone is saying the Diversity Biker Gang looks like Power Rangers, and I can’t disagree.
Might as well give Jason David Frank a cameo at this point.

Agreed on basically every point. Mando and Boba are both mired in schlock, but Mando's characters, vibe and general execution elevated the whole thing a point or two. Boba is just wallowing in it. Now don't get me wrong, I'd still take Disney schlock over Disney blandess (i.e. the sequels) any day of the week and there's been an episode yet in either show that I felt like I was wasting my time with, but I'm waiting for everything to click here. I think most of the effort behind the scenes is clearly going into Mando S3 right now.

The funniest part is that the two cgi Hutts travel across the galaxy. Then gets carried all the way up with their human team litter in order to challenge Boba of Jabba's throne only for them to bring a Jogger Wookie as a muscle that looses to diverse hire biker gange.

The EU legends cannon Boba Fett that was our favorite would have been ashamed if he had saw disney cannon Boba. :drink:Cheers to another character of our childhoods ruined yet again.

Agreed. Most of my good will towards Boba comes from how well Mando was handled. Im basically waiting for a payoff to the slow pacing, And your all well within your rights to call me optimistic.

I think the issues come down to the split timeline doesn't work. It's getting in the way of both storylines.
It definitely screwed up the pacing for ep 1. I personally think it got better with the last 2 episodes, but they really need to have a good twist to stick the landing. Can they do it? place your bets. Im keeping an open mind.

Oh and because the reply button isnt working, im a little insulted Gangster would compare this to the absolute turd burger that is Picard.

Boba may be a little too nice, but he's treated with more dignity then this. The hive gangers stop giving him lip the moment he hires them. Picard's "pals" constantly talk down to him.

Twitter is in an absolute mess right now over tweets like these. Its glorious sperging and fighting on a quantum level.

They keep trying to use Daxter's diner and the prequels' Coruscant vehicles as proof that vehicles on Tatooine can look ridiculous and colorful while failing to realize that Coruscant is a colorful 50s-esque New York planet (and even then its saturation isn't that high) where 50s inspired vehicles can work and they had actual skilled artists designing the PT vehicles and making them look both alien yet familiar with an actual vehicle basis while keeping them reasonably saturated, while the ones in Boba Fat just look like kitchen appliances with bike handles and look about as awful as little mopeds or the cheap vehicles from TORtanic (which twitter drones are also using to justify the shit designs despite the uglier ones being the least popular models in the game TORtanic being a fucking mess where most prefer to ride around on rancors or floating chairs).

Others have just resorted to using the 70s comics as proof of all things (despite comics are naturally over-satured and that these disney twats mocked the comics hell when it was convenient to elevate Disney).

And when all their arguments fail, they resort to the old "SPACE WIZARDS ARE SILLY AND FOR KIDS! LET ME BE A KID AND STOP DISLIKING THIS THING DESPITE THAT YOUR DISLIKE DOESN'T STOP ME FROM WATCHING!" scapegoat and flee.

Mando is also episodic. This isn't. That leads to way more variation in characters, locations, ideas and themes. There's also a new story or situation that gets set up and resolved.

In the main plot, he hasn't actually accomplished anything yet.

I want to see it click and hope we have a lot of story and stuff going on for the final few episodes, I just don't know how this structure will allow it unless we catch up on the flashbacks and they end.

On the surface, it seems the central conflict will be the fish-head people and the death of his desert friends. Yet why care at the moment about the conflict, if it's still being set up and explained to us what that conflict is. Which I assume is they killed the raiders.

This talk of, "going to war" but Boba doesn't have an army. It's just odd how underdeveloped everything is. It hasn't even explained why Boba is doing what he's doing. How can it ever be great until it establishes his motivetion.

I suspect it was written chronologically and they for whatever reason forced it into this format. I also suspect it wasn't even written as separate scripts. Just page numbers to gauge run time.

There is more dignity in the concept art then in the show

Look at him, no slouch, no skin showing, no Boba-tribe robes, no Asian sidepiece in the main room, just a man planning his next move.

I didn't watch the first two since I don't have Disney plus or any streaming service really but was talked into watching this last episode with a friend who still consooms Filoni Wars like no tomorrow. I actually don't mind Morrison since I always liked him as Jango in a lot of the pre-Filoni Wars media he was in. They really should stick to telling one story instead of skipping back and forth between the Tusken stuff (which just ends with all of them getting Wounded Knee'd offscreen I guess) and Boba being a 'crime lord' that no one takes seriously at all. The swoop gang of cyberpunk rejects also feels really out of place, like they were salvaged from some aborted pilot set on Coruscant or something and attached to Boba Fett (or worse, having the waters tested for a spinoff of their own), they really feel like a Star Wars version of that Warhammer 40K for kids series that GW thought was a good idea. If Boba Fett wasn't involved no one would give a shit about them and doesn't that just describe this whole series so far?

Eh, I liked that scene. Nobody called him a fucker, and it was kinda funny. Boba's misfortune feels like something he needs to overcome, as opposed to Picard who "doesn't know his place" To me, it feels like half the entire point of the show is boba getting his groove back.

Look, let me break down the issue between current year Star Trek and Star Wars.

Star wars made a huge fuck up, and is attempting to course correct. With it's new TV shows, it's trying to make something fun for fans. You can all argue how "genuine" or "good" this effort goes, but they are putting in some degree of effort.

Star trek? It's not trying... It's not trying at all. It has made fuck up after fuck up with no correction in sight.

Remember when everybody shat on the prequels for being too clean and new looking?

I can't think of a single OT character that Disney has brought back in their content that's been treated with dignity and respect.

Star wars made a huge fuck up, and is attempting to course correct.

Here. You dropped these.

Well it "feels" to me like its attempting to course correct tv wise. The parks and comics are well and truly fucked until and if they get new management.
Do you believe that Favreau and Filoni are going to retcon the Sequel Trilogy? Because one thing to keep in mind is that The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett are set 25 years before The Force Awakens in Disney's timeline which gives them a lot of wiggle room to avoid directly referencing the Sequel Trilogy.

Filoni only cares about his “OC donut steel” whores and forcing them down your fucking throat.

I’d wager my totalled income from last year that the cowboy has commissioned nasty porn of his femme OCs. He is not retconning anything, he is too deep in the coom.

If anything I think Dave and John are prequelfags. They'll pay lipservice to the sequels and carry on pandering to the Clone Wars crowd.

Wolffucker Dave doesn't give a shit about the Prequels past TCW.

It's not and they're not.

This episode confirmed it for me. Book of Boba Fett is trash. Forget the bikes, the writing is just fucking awful fanfic tier tripe. Why is Boba Fett hiring randos on the spot for no reason? Why is he constantly sparing everyone? Din Djarin was more ruthless than Boba, even after he got Baby Sneed. Why was he just given a Rancor out of nowhere? Just because Jaba had one? And why does Fennec Shand seem to have no motivation whatsoever other than being Boba's lackey. I'm no feminist, but holy shit even I'm insulted by how servile she is. She could at least have her own agenda in some regard, just to make things interesting.
It's literally like something you'd find on Spacebattles or /qst/. The GM is overly generous, the PC tries to "reasonable authoritarian" their way through all problems with no consequences, and all the supporting cast just constantly kisses the PC's ass. We're beyond Mary Sue at this point. We're watching Temuera Morrison LARP in real time.
