Inactive Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka - Deadbeat (emphasis on "Dead") founder of Something Awful, forced out of his own community, on his second divorce, stuck his dick in crazy, "Birth Giver"

A few days after his death, his eldest daughter was posting "I'm sorry" on some of his more recent YouTube videos. People are right that Lowtax was unlikely to suddenly become a good father if he'd stayed alive. But to off yourself days after family court proceedings ordering you to support your youngest child is horrific.

Killing himself was orders of magnitude worse than just remaining a deadbeat dad that sees them twice a year on holidays. They're going to carry around a ton of emotional baggage from him killing himself, especially since child support and alimony appear to have been the event that set him off.

To be clear: the kids obviously had nothing to do with his decision, and he's 100% responsible for the choice to kill himself and every bad decision that led up to it. But try explaining that to a teenage girl who has to grieve her father, and deal with a grand mother who clearly hates her mother.

He's got sufficient self-awareness to stay off the grid. Sure, that's less grist for the KF mill, but it's an inarguable net gain for western civilization at large.

There were plenty of ways out of the situation that lowtax found himself in but he deliberately trapped himself due to his lifestyle. I can't wrap my head around his mindset or decision. He chose a permanent solution to a temporary problem. A problem that he himself created and actively made worse.

The kids don't deserve this, no one does. I don't envy the position that either wife is in right now and I'm sure that they are grieving in their own ways. Lowtax trying to pin his cause of death on the divorce is beyond cowardly.

I can already imagine Lowtax donning a burger king crown and a purple blanket to proudly accept his award, and then proceed to go on a strange rambling acceptance speech where he stumbles over his own words and tries to thank the most lolsorandom things he can think of, like the inventor of the clothes hanger or something

She probably didn't want her kids to make the same mistakes she did. She did get knocked up out of wedlock, which isn't exactly the most Christian thing to do, and she was alleged to be dating a goon before she met LowT, so you know she's done things she's not proud of. Not to mention if the 13mil offer is true, would cause some grief and friction in her life. Imagine if you and your kids could be set for life, but your spouse turned it down, because he was "still having fun", as he put it.

And I'm betting it was her idea to kick LowT outta the house during bible study. Imagine your drunk embarrassment of a husband stumbling around the house, wearing nothing but piss-stained boxers and an old ratty Hawaiian shirt like a bathrobe, while you and your proper, clean friends are trying to discuss the Gospel of John.

He could have parlayed his site into something bigger. He could have sat on the profits the site was drawing in and remained a layabout. He could have not deliberately squandered his money to spite his ex. He could have let his wealthy mother carry his ass for a few years while he got out from under his debts.

I honestly don't know how anyone can kill themselves and leave behind three kids who very much still need a father. If I had to guess, it wasn't the lost money that got to him as much as the loss of being relevant. Somethingawful had been sliding for decades by the time he sold it, but once he sold it he was 100% a thing of the past. His ego couldn't handle that.

Even as late as Oct 2019, he was grossing between the forum and Pateron, what, $200k a year? Even if %75 of that was spent on taxes, medical bills, and child support that would net him $50k. A family of three can live quite comfortably on $50k a year in Bumblefuck, MO. Obviously you're not gonna be living in a 6 bedroom McMansion with a lawyer foyer, you're not going to be eating Goldbelly every night, and your family truckster is going to be a Kia minivan than a GTR, and your libation of choice will be 30 packs of Busch beer rather than Oxys. But that's the problem, and it's been discussed before, but LowT didn't want comfortable, He wanted to live a life so hedonistic and self-destructive it would make Charlie Sheen blush.

Ashley’s roommate at the time was a huge fan of Lowtax. Dick of course decided to date Ashley instead lol. That seems to be his MO: putting a ring on his groupies. Of course he never contemplated why they decided to be a groupie of Something Awful in the first place. All ties into his low effort hedonist lifestyle though.

It was mind-boggling how he didn't just make bad decisions or refuse to take good advice, but he made aggressively terrible decisions. For a while I thought he was doing some sort of gimmick, because surely even the most potent of drugs wouldn't cause that level of stupidity. But he was obviously bent on self destruction, and at no point did he do anything to help himself out of the situation he caused. So naturally it would end the way it did.

At least his ex-wives seem to have some maternal instincts and can mitigate some of the damage he caused to his kids. And thank fuck he didn't knock Logan up, though not for lack of trying I'm sure.
