Even back before this whole TERF nonsense started, plenty of leftists were beginning to think Rowling was full of shit.
Not only because of how lame she was at pandering to them, but because of how blatantly transparent it was.
They practically hit her with the OC meme that she was going to make a black, trans, disabled wizard/witch person thing, or that she was suddenly going to turn Harry trans (only for her detractors to do that themselves
)
At the same time, she made no secret that she wasn't a huge fan of conservatives. Quite the opposite, really. Now, all of a sudden both sides of the extreme aren't at all that fond of her (although those on the right have softened their views on her for obvious reasons).
It's like this woman can't get herself straight on one issue, only to then be ironclad integrity over what she's been consistent on (old school feminism).
I think what gets me is how, unlike many of her peers, she actually has some shred of integrity and won't just suddenly sell out her long time principles for some extra (non-existent) sales. I think that's part of why a large number of them have grown to dislike her. She actually has a spine (for now), still gets royalties (because of her contracts), and that she's more than rich enough to not care about any backlash (and those who
do try anything will be unquestionably arrested by British authorities).
Kind of like a normal person. Only, many, many,
many people have apparently forgotten how to be like that.
