I was lurking through various playlists and found this really great series called Pop Ambient from the Kompakt Ambient Label.
A lot of the tracks in this one remind me of Sangam's - You Forget this

Hot Take: Resonance is overrated and doesn't really give me a homey feeling (No pun intended)

I like these tracks personally

De Lorra is underrated

also not really vaporwave, but it is out of touch Thursday

Astrophysics is a goldmine of chill music. Also, obligatory Hotline Miami mention but at this point, it's hammered in our head that hotline Miami has a good soundtrack.

There are some game soundtracks before the official vaporwave/synthwave movement that capture the sound really well...there is the soundtrack for the Lawnmower Man game for the SNES. The game itself is quite fun but very hard and the music is great...it almost sounds like Depeche Mode.

Then there is the soundtrack for another game called Machines: Wired For War. It is a rather obscure RTS which came out in 2001 featuring two AIs duking it out by fielding armies of robots against each other. The music has a very Synthwave/80's futuristic sound to it which fits the theme of a robot war perfectly.

the fact that some of the original links from the start of this thread are unavailable should be pretty indicative of where vaporwave’s at right now:(
True. These things don't last forever.

On the other hand, no cultural trend or subculture ever truly goes away, it just fades from popularity for awhile but they are often still around in one form or another. They usually bubble to the surface again eventually.

VAPORWAVE IS DEAD。。。LONG LIVE VAPORWAVE :woo:
My favorite dead trend since 2017, after which I heard people talking about how people can still like vaporwave past 2014. (:_(I crey evertim.

One of my favorite vaporwave bands managed to release some music without me noticing because they only posted it in SoundCloud and
fucking Spotify.

Some others I've seen:

I've posted Lush Crayon before, his newest album is also good.

Does anyone have any good videos of vaporwave with old slice-of-life clips, or clips of malls or just 90s life in general? I could use some childhood nostalgia. Things sucked then, but there was a sense of hope...
