Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

As I play catch up I would like to note that China‘s economy is smaller than America’s. It just has a larger population of potential customers. It still abuses technicalities involving “Third World” nations while claiming to be first world (it may have stopped by now, but I doubt it), along with a great deal of never paying back what is loaned, stealing designs, shortchanging customers, etc., to get money. Their budget goes into bribes, it is one of the many reasons why the CCP has a budget crisis. They spend too much money on keeping corruption in other nations going instead of putting the money to work on being productive within their own. If this wasn’t true then why does their navy keep running into budget delays when it comes to building more ships?

2024 is going to be incredible. This is undoubtedly the greatest timeline. Nothing before or in the future of human history will match the amount of seething, coping, and dilating. The salt mines are going to overflow and render the earth barren. It's going to make 2016 look like a goddamn drop in the bucket. I can't wait.

With the PLA Navy, at least, there's the issue that they're trying to run and play catch up with the U.S. Navy and field both a large and modern fleet in a short time-span.

Thing is, you really can't do that with a navy, at least not one that you want to be functional. The Soviets learned that the hard way when they did their massive buildup from the 1960's thru 1980's - including quickly learning that while building a sizable fleet is one thing, actually maintaining and keeping the vessels seaworthy is something else entirely.

This was my stance. Specifically: When someone becomes an adult they are given a free day, much like how jury duty works, where they are exempt from going to school, working, etc, and they spend this day getting a basic civics lesson. Following this lesson, they are granted a free ID, registered to vote if they want to, and signed up for the selective service.

A sort of "Right of passage/confirmation of adult" thing. Then, every 10 years... remove them from their voter rolls, and require them to get a renewal of their ID. Still free, and they can reregister on renewel.

Solves multiple issues and streamlines the process
Edit: 10 years, not 120....

I'd be okay with a civics pamphlet and test for voting registration. Sorta like how you'd prepare for drivers ed.

Last week the NYT ran a Biden-Cheney proposal, yesterday Fox News proposed Clinton-Cheney and now the Hill is trying to push Manchin-DeSantis. Is there some organized conspiracy in mainstream media to shill the worst tickets humanly imaginable? I read this headline and I felt like I got fucking flashbanged. My jaw genuinely dropped. The American people need answers and we need to know now: who the fuck is pushing this? And why?
Realistically, the national leaders of both political parties — and likely even the two men’s own advisers — would reject a Manchin-DeSantis ticket for partisan, self-serving reasons, even if millions of Americans might embrace it. But, much like in 2015, at this point, what would they have to lose?
