I watched the Conner clip when you posted it, and I watched the full thing afterward. I don't think he was being very malicious at all. Looking past British bluntness, he brings up a point that, as much as I defend the talent that Holo, PC, Niji, etc. . . have found, is valid. You aren't set for life, but you are set up for some success that is for sure. Branding matters. Look at Delutuya. In terms of her corpo career, it isn't that long or impressive considering. But she is raking in cash compared to most streamers. She will always be Aloe, and that name alone matters. I'm not arguing that getting into a corpo give you a leg up vs your contemporaries - but that's the same as saying people who get into Ivy League Schools or into huge companies like Google are just lucky to be there because they are guaranteed instant success

Also regarding context, pretty sure they were talking about what people could/should put into their resumes for a better chance to be hired while Connor's answer basically boiled down to "lol doesn't matter, just apply for Holo and roll in $$$"

Is anyone autistic enough to grab all the HoloJP NYE outfits and put them together? I think the complaint that they all look too similar to one another is probably more to do with 10 outfit reveals in 2 weeks than it is the outfits themselves, but maybe I'm wrong.

Kimonos, by and large, are worn in a very strict way and only leave room for individuality in the pattern and accessories. Not sure what people were expecting in regards to stark variety.

Which is why he should've never opened his mouth in the first place. In full context he was trying to do the whole 'pull the curtain back and show you how the real world works' schtick. He said you could just put whatever on your resume as if most places won't at least check to see if your completely lying or not, which makes me wonder if he's ever actually had to put in a resume. I think if he sincerely apologized then that's pretty good, but I also hope he understands why what he said was braindead and has learned better.

Anyone capable of critical thinking should understand that joining a corpo with a track record of success is gonna open up a lot of opportunities. Whether the talent is capable of making use of/exploiting these opportunities to establish themselves and finding their own success is another matter entirely.

This is something Calli has mentioned as something she's changed her view on in her time at Hololive. To paraphrase her "just because you work hard for it, does not mean you will succeed". In Connor's case I think people assumed he meant "just because people succeed, doesn't meant they worked hard for it" which I can see based on his poor word choice. My kneejerk reaction when I first saw the clip out of context was "do you really think that Hololive would hire the least talented/proven content creators from their applicants or something"?

I feel like Calli would be the first to cut ties with him if she thought Connor was dismissing the hard work the myth girls put in and I'm glad she shot down the people trying to police the people she interacts with. This makes me hopeful that she might collab more with the stars even in non musical contexts.

I wouldn't say that, at least for Joey and Garnt. They had pretty successful channels in the past before the bookwalker support. They, as much as many wouldn't want to admit it, genuinely earned their spot. They weren't hired and they weren't recruited. They had channels and made a good deal later on as a collective from my understanding.

But that bit you mentioned on the Ivy's? Nah, it takes some bullshit, and half the people I met in those circles weren't worth the dirt they're made from. But, if you weren't a complete moron in your major, and aren't a total shithead, you can make it work wonders. Opportunities are the key to the game. These corpos are there because of extraordinary luck and extraordinary ability to see the opportunity ahead. Conner's remarks were out of line because he didn't extrapolate, but the reality is if you have corpo backing; you have the springboard.

My two fav are polar opposite when it come to SC reading. Suisei never read SC beside the one that pop-in and she saw it during the stream. Kson read literally every SC even if it take her 2+ hours every day. Personally, I prefer the former. Less strain on the talents and the fans don't have to stick around in fear of missing some random tangent. I do understand the feeling of wanting to acknowledge the donation though (not to mention it's very profitable. For some, It's major part of their income.) Maybe Lui's approach is a good middle ground, don't read out loud and waste everyone time but ensure the donator that she read it by written their name down and post in YT community page.

These clips and this Supa are completely out of sync

I can understand where you are coming from about those clips not relating to what the Supa was saying. As those clips were the only ones I can find that seem to be what I thought he was referring to when he mentioned Conner. Such as the first clip that @RiverBear posted was the first thing that came into mind and the second clip was from the same thread where the paraphrase of Mori's stream came from.

This much is obvious because it only happened when months later "no talent" clip resurfaced on twitter and he actually started getting backlash for it even in TT subreddit, of course he would try to neutralize the whole thing.

As for the clip itself I think people that defend it also tend to forget that it's out of context and it's actually kind of weird that connur would feel the need to go on this whole rant during random discussion about job interviews, you don't need to hammer this point so hard just to say that any Vtuber would love to get into hololive. It's especially awkward if you consider Ironmouse is one of the biggest corporate Vtubers and her agency also happen to have auditions (pretty sure they've already started at that point, it takes ages) with thousands of people begging to join or indeed becoming surprisingly successful despite putting no effort like his good friend Sydney that barely even use her Vshojo character. Regardless of what was actually said he sounds kind of jealous and if anything it's a slip or masc off moment rather than an open attack against hololive members.
