It’s like wearing a silk shirt under a very itchy sweater. If you don’t have the silk shirt, the itchy sweater is intolerable. You love the sweater, but not the itch. So, you get very used to the silk shirt and start wearing it under everything even though you don’t need to wear it under your cotton tee or your other silk shirt. Pretty soon you can’t tolerate air on your skin. You have to have the silk shirt on. But you need 2 of them now…

And then when you try to take the silk shirts off you get very very ill. Even just one at a time. It ends up being easier leaving them on and thus the cycle continues.

Benzos are meant to give someone a bit of breathing space for a few weeks or months while they work shit out in therapy. For longer term use are meant for seizures while the right antieptilectic meds are figured out. Just like opioids generally the longer the use the higher the dose becomes.
They also trigger dopamine & serotonin in the brain so that's a huge reason people start taking them as well. Different type of Benzos have a different half life so withdrawal times vary from pill to pill. Xanax kicks in quicker and harder as does withdrawal than Klonopin. Valium the longest.

While dope sick refers to opioid withdrawal it's the same concept for benzo withdrawal. Where I live they are much easier to score compared to opioids since The Pharmacist came out on Netflix exposing all the pill mills in my state, but if you have Medicaid good luck getting either without dyer circumstance and only for very short term use.
