Mega Rad Gun Thread

The Hellion just makes me wish we had imported G36s even more.

I'm one of the weirdos who likes the look of the AUG, but the VHS is just ugly with a shitty bolt release.
My first thought was "I wonder if tommybuilt can un-bullpup that."

My second thought was "for less than 17 thousand dollars"

So KelTec is releasing a 9mm microcompact (who doesn't offer one these days) and in true KelTec fashion they're making it special
It's apparently the lightest and thinnest gun "of its kind" yet also has a magazine capacity of 15 with a patent pending magazine design. Also, for whatever reason, there are no pictures of it accompanying the article yet Kel-tec is publicly talking about it to a gun news site so take that as you will.
It will debut at SHOT in a couple days
Any guesses as to what black magic they have worked on the magazine? Is is a weird 1.75 stack? a 2 & 3/8ths stack? I personally would rule out a quadstack because of it's claimed thinness.
Well the picture is accompanying the article now, the stippling is, an improvement but that grip safety, oh boy. Still very curious about what's patent pending regarding the magazine

Looks dangerous. Because if you pull it on me I'll die laughing.

Just throwing this out there.... recently was shopping for a new gun belt and discovered Kore. I've never owned a belt that ratchets like this but so far it's pretty awesome. I got the nylon one but I'm sure their leather ones are pretty nice too.

Franklin Armory is making a (probably) Binary handgun trigger (probably glock) listen very closely at :35 and onwards for the double gun shot
PSA is making, a 5.7?

Holosun is coming out with two new optics
1. the AEMS CORE model, same as the AEMS but with only a 2 MOA dot instead at a lower price point
2. The SCS pistol optic
Today, Holosun pushes the envelope of red dot technology!
"We would like to introduce the SCS (Solar Charging Sight). This product brings the next level of our Solar Failsafe system to the red dot user. Being an auto-adjusting only system, it uses multiple sensors to be able to accurately adjust the brightness level of the reticle to the correct setting, even when using flashlights! Furthermore, the system does not require the user to replace batteries. It uses the ambient light not only to power itself, but maintains charge to an internal battery for when low-light situations arise. All this is uniquely fitted in an ultra low system that is not only compatible with standard height BUIS, but is uniquely shaped to direct fit to an exisiting manufacturer's slide profile and still offer features you expect from Holosun such as M.R.S. (Multi Reticle System) in a Grade 5 titanium housing.
As pictured, this model was made specific to interface with the Glock MOS slide profile."1642294645031.png

TLDR: It's powered by the sun and has an internal, non removable battery that is also charged by the sun for when it's dark out. It's very low profile and you can use standard sights as BUIS. The one featured in the image interfaces with the Glock MOS system.

I have HIGH hopes Holosun will innovate the market with solarpower. What's that? Their solar shit sucks? Nah, this time it will be different.

On a serious note, as I allow you unholy demons tempt me with the idea of red dots on a handgun, what optics will and won't mount to the glock MOS slides? I've heard people say they had to buy normal glocks and get them cut custom for certain red dots, and I know some companies like Walther sell mulitple baseplates depending on what optic you use.

Glock MOS are pre cut, you just need the plates.

The Glock brand plates are very cheap pot metal, I use CHPW plates on mine.

That being said, what's your budget? What do you want?

Nothing yet, just learning. I have been absorbing A LOT of info in this realm over the last year or 2. I like to have a good idea of what I want and how feasible ($$$-wise) it is before I marry the idea. I still have to flesh out more of my gear, build another AR, and get more ammo before I go the red-dot on my pistol route.

You can get any pistol optic you want as long as you have the correct mounting plate for it or are willing to get the slide milled to accommodate it.

In my opinion, for serious use there are only two options; Trijicon and sadly Holosun. I'm still not convinced that the Acro is worthwhile yet since I've seen no tests of the P2.

For just range fuckery, get whatever except Vortex because as mentioned before in this thread, their pistol optics have a habit of the glass falling out.

Yeah, I am seeing the cutting edge fucks are looking into the acro and steiner cuz the enclosed is not phased by the elements. Hopofheil also noted he had issues using an open style in his recent snow shooting, but at the end of the day, unless I am concealed carrying, I really don't want to be in a situation were I am relying on a pistol in the first place. (I'm talking shtf-world).

Glock MOS is a "universal" (but not really as you can't mount Mini optics made for subcompacts to a full size gun at least I don't think you can) mounting system for red dots, As White Devil pointed out you don't mount the optic directly to the slide but to an adapter plate which itself is mounted to the slide.
I've heard people say they had to buy normal glocks and get them cut custom for certain red dots
People do get stock slides milled/buy dedicated slides. This is done because dedicated slides are stronger (not that good plates are weak) and the optic will sit ever so slightly lower (not that Height over bore is much of a problem)

If you haven't already check out essentially anything and everything involving the Youtube channels Sage Dynamics (durability tester and reviewer) and Modern Samurai Project (MRDS guru and instructor) as well as the Sage Dynamics White Paper for MRDS durability testing

I would also suggest that you check out a 4 part series by 1911 syndicate that shows you the inside of a Modern Samurai pistol MRDS class.

God I hate Hopofheil. He sounds like somebody who should be shoved into a locker.

Holosun will also be releasing a pistol optic called the EPS, it will be an enclosed optic for slim line handguns
Source is 6:17 and onwards, there will be two models and the only visual difference I can see is that one has a built in BUIS. To my knowledge this optic is the first of its kind

It's really kind of strange how a chinkshit manufacturer is showing up Trijicon.

Holosun's whole thing is to undercut the major optics manufacturers and do it on the cheap. They're probably losing money to keep such a standard but they don't care because it keeps people buying their optics over Trijicon, Aimpoint, Eotech etc

For light duty (range larp use) I really like my holosun. I am kinda spoiled and a triji fag. This new P15 doesn't grab me and I don't see who it's for.

Speaking of, what does everyone think of apexgunparts mini H layouts for a single front plate? I have 2 carriers now and like them but for my AK a single front plate few mags would be great for a larp and some sick patterns. I don't lie it'll be for fun and LARP use.

Looks like for now, Juggernaut tactical is getting away with selling that AWB workaround gun while Newsom wants to create a database of gun owners by using the University of California system.

I have found the actual patent for the Next gen Eotech
Next gen Eotech patent

Also, Eotech MRDS product video

Franklin Armory Glock Binary confirmed, is a slide replacement and features a Glock 18 style selector switch
PSA 5.7 confirmed in this thread, 30-45 days out on production
FN is bringing back the Hi-power and have modernized the design slightly, 17 round mags "Improved ergonomics", "fire control", a larger ejection port and a "streamlined barrel lockup design"

Also, No Optic cut? if Langdon Tactical can do it to a Beretta 92 then FN can do it to a Hi-power, not to mention no ascessory rail.
