My two cents anyways. With the mandate stopped in court and Biden's numbers slipping, I betting they start toning down the more outlandish policies while keeping the purity test in the hopes of not getting wrecked at midterms.

Exactly. Today we had a 'big' increase in deaths. I believe 36 in New South Wales. Except it turns out a lot of those deaths are historical, confirmed after coroner's investigation, and have nothing to do with the current Omicron outbreak. We should be seeing a massive spike in deaths concurrent with the ramp up in Omicron infections from 3-4 weeks ago, instead it's plateauing and deaths with Omicron are running about the same as expected from all causes given 20% of the entire population are estimated to be currently infected.

Are people dying from Omicron Covid? Maybe a handful but there's no doubt that the majority of the reported deaths are not causally related. The only other explanation possible is that Omicron is more aggressive than Delta in causing severe disease and no one is claiming that.

I can't imagine how a younger person could die of Omicron Covid unless they have seriously fucked health. So fucked in fact that literally any viral illness would put them at risk. We're talking stage 4 liver cancer or literal AIDS.

The 'sickest' non ancient person I know who contracted the Omi Covid is my wife's friend. She's pudgy, in her forties and a smoker. She got the usual disease, sore throat, headache but also ended up with a lingering cough. Doctor has put her on antibiotics and she'll be fine in a few days. So the usual secondary bacterial infection you can sometimes get with a cold and easily treated.

I don't know a single solitary person, not a family member, a friend, a friend of a friend, a friend of a family member, an ex-work colleague not one single person who's had to go to hospital because they contracted Covid over the past few weeks. I haven't heard even a rumour of anyone who got more than a moderately bad flu. My wife's fat friend was advised by her GP to go to Emergency because she was a bit chesty but she decided not to as, being a smoker, she's had a ton of bronchial infections over the years and this wasn't a particularly bad one. Plus she doesn't trust hospitals (smart girl).

It's a complete nothing and it's spread so fast that's it's pretty much over where I am. Not that you'd know this from the media who're still doing their best impression of a hysterical 12 year old girl.
