Jaron Seth Bloshinsky / Jazz Jennings / I Am Jazz - Puberty Blockers: Not Even Once

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I just don’t understand how they allow this to air on television. I feel like I hadn’t peaked earlier, this would have done it for me. Jazz is such a fucking disaster, but all of her siblings are fine (well, debatable in Sander’s case, but to my knowledge he isn’t on 17 TYPES OF MEDS LOL) Hm, I wonder what could have caused this?

Does anyone really think that it's fair for the dietitian and Ari to treat Jazz as if he hadn’t had this experimental treatment in the first place

I mean, no, but like…genuinely as opposed to what? Jazz ballooning up is all post-surgery. Most of the other the variables never changed. Puberty blockers and overbearing mother included.

Some random stuff:

This image is also from /tv/, but it's so big I'm posting it by itself.

It's fascinating how the old guard recognize shit the young and out of the loop don't know.
In honor of the forum we are now in, this is true for deathfats as well. People who've never lived with one don't understand what they're really like, so they accept the rhetoric (pro-trans, HAES, etc.) because they want to be a "good person".

I love how Sander claims that Jazz is mentally healthier than before even tho he needs a whole fucking TEAM of doctors(!!). If this is "better" then how horrible must it have been in the past?
I suspect it was a suicide bid that was the reason Jaron had to defer Harvard, and that's also the reason he's on so many meds.

Exulansic was not the first to notice that the puberty blockade and subsequent wrong-sex hormones affected Jazz's brain development. Her specific hypothesis, that this resulted in a hypothalamic condition contributing to Jazz's obesity, is untested. I don't think she's suggested otherwise. But the implications of the puberty blockers, as she's developed them, are indisputable.

We know that the desired cosmetic effects of puberty blockers are the tip of the iceberg. It's simply not credible, and never was, to suppose that the effects on the brain would be any less severe than those on the genitals. It would be misleading to characterize these effects as anything other than a brain injury, and there is plenty of evidence for this. For example, his lack of sexual attraction is a brain thing, not a penis thing. There might be effects that are more subtle but just as important. It's not reasonable to accept the obvious fact that the puberty blockade prevented his libido from developing while rejecting the possibility that it also affected things like appetite, self-control, judgment, planning, sleep, mood, et cetera.

We do not know the extent of Jazz's brain injury. We wouldn't even know in theory: it's not like we fully understand the brain and its development in the first place, let alone the effects of depriving it of necessary hormones during a crucial window; the effects of those effects, and so on; and how this will translate into Jazz's behavior and mental state. It is going to take a lot of research to find out what is happening to these kids, and it's not being done.

Given all this, as Exulansic points out, the assumption that Jazz's mental health problems, eating disorder, and physical health problems have a conventional etiology and treatment is not only wholly unscientific, but extremely cruel to Jazz. Does anyone really think that it's fair for the dietitian and Ari to treat Jazz as if he hadn't had this experimental treatment? It's a piece of the puzzle, just like the 17 pills, the abusive mother, the traumatic penis amputation and neovagina disappointment, chronic pain, a life of being groomed into a lie, the stress of being famous for genital mutilation. Any of these could be a sufficient cause of Jazz's eating disorder. But that doesn't allow us to dismiss the fact that WE KNOW HE HAS FUCKING BRAIN DAMAGE.

When you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras - this is usually good advice. But it's bad advice when you're on safari.

I mean Jazz’ entire life up until this point has been predicated on a lie so to expect his family and the team assigned to him (I.e. ryann the anorexic dietician) to not gaslight him about his obesity is absurd. It’s cruel and unusual but then again that’s what TLC markets as entertainment.

Exulansic’s theory of the metabolic damage from the Lupron is sound, but she loses me with the pedantic medicalese that honestly seems to come from her own Munchie behavior. Her being a detransitioner with a rare disease(s) (that she qualifies as muh disability) and also claiming to be Native American/indigenous at the same time is just too much snowflake to handle; affects my ability to take her assessments seriously.

Jazz was huffing Nutella and hot cakes long before the surgery. Dr Bowers told him to lose 30 pounds, or he wouldn't chop. Now it's three years of continued binging later. Ta-dah.

He was a skinny kid though. The onset of his major depression and anxiety symptoms also coincides with the implantation of the puberty blocker (as Exulansic points out).

Why are people of the idea that whats told or shown on the show is real? Just because he said he dilated in there doesn’t mean it’s true. It could have been a troll to his mom or a set up from the producers. Speculating that his cavity closed up is hardly hyperbolic.

You can have a team of mental health professionals and have been institutionalized, they’re not exactly mutually exclusive.
It seems like a good way to convince your mother that you are doing something she wants you to do, by telling her youre doing it in an open place and leaving the paraphenalia out for her to find. If anything this adds credence to the idea that jazz stopped doing this a while ago and is just lying.

He was a lot more active, too, he loved playing football and running around all over the place. He couldn't move as much after the surgery, and the hormones can cause chronic pain too.

Just had a thought about Greg standing there taking photos like an idiot. He is a lawyer. Didn't they try to sue the school when Jazz was a kid? And hint at possible legal recourse when the surgery was having issues? (And then Jazz mysteriously switched doctors-- do we think there was a quiet settlement?) Maybe he's the type to always be thinking litigiously, and takes evidence photos whenever bad shit happens. Like a form of opportunistic muscle memory.

Just a reminder that the show is filmed and edited.
Agreed, but using that same logic, I bet the family bullying and abuse is way worse than what we see, given what they’re willing to show on camera.

I think the sibs resented all the attention given to Jazz in his early years and now subconsciously find it’s safe to take out their resentment on him, now that he’s turned out to be a “failure”. Of course the real person they should be taking it out on is Jeanette, but she’s too pickled in vodka to notice.

Tonight's episode had some lulzy/equally depressing moments. As in I was more entertained than suicidal this time 'round.

Make of that what you will.

EDIT: Also, in the Next Week segment after the ep. that Noah troon goes after a bunch of dudebros and basically tells them that he supports rape-by-deception via not telling someone if you're trans.

I mean there was a literal film crew so I don't think it was that pertinent that he takes his shitty quality cellphone pic lol. He was probably just being an asshole so at the next family dinner they can all laugh and reminisce about the time Jazz totally ate shit and possibly concussed himself while attempting to do physical activity.

Yeah but the TLC camera crew was there too and filmed the whole thing. Couldn't he use that as evidence for whatever?
I’m pretty sure you have to hold harmless the indoor sports place and the network is not going to get involved as I’m sure insurance for this show is a nightmare to begin with. I think what is more likely is that Greg is a trained monkey and serves as a de facto cameraman for Jeanette; he probably learned from past tantrums to always be at the ready to document various familial humiliations for her narc purposes.

Agree with this assessment. Sander is really bringing the lols. Honestly this episode might as well be I am Sander. Aside from Jazz getting his Harvard news, he's hardly in it. I completely forgot about him until the end.

A few Sander highlights for those who don't really watch the show--

-Opening is between Sander and Jeanette. He's whining about how no one takes him seriously and this is basically the theme of the whole episode. Mostly notable because the douchebag is wearing a " ^ This guy has his master's degree" tshirt. Jeanette makes absolutely zero effort to comfort him, even going "No offense but sometimes you're kind of annoying with the camera" and then tells him to go talk to the other family members if he really has an issue

-Sander might be annoying as fuck, but jesus christ Griffin is an asshole assuming this conversation isn't completely scripted. During the family car ride, Greg prompts them to just share what's going on with them rn. Sander gives a little spiel pretending like he's actually busy and has real work to do. Like whatever, it's pretty harmless. Completely unprompted, Griffin pipes up to remind him "WELL, that's the difference between what you and me, Ari, and Jazz do...you know, we have a set schedule, set assignments, you're in the social media world where there's no set anything."

-Family takes a trip to D.C. Very jarring to see the them go through the "girlhood" exhibit at the Smithsonian featuring actual civil rights activists and then all of the sudden there's Jazz and his mermaid tail lolol.

-But guess who else lives in D.C.? Big Hope of course! Sander visits him at his apartment. Hope is wearing a needlessly sexual mesh top with his tits out. Sander, tonedeaf as ever, starts whining to Hope about his familial woes. I'm sure that a black, gay, tranny is really sympathetic to Sander's imagined plights about being "validated" by his family.

Hope is at least pretty straight with him even though he can barely bring himself to look Sander in the eye -- basically telling him he needs to get the fuck over it and stop seeking external validation. Then Sander starts to get teary eyed and you can see the grimace of disgust creep across Hope's face as he continues to pretend to care. Someone has gotta screencap it. They move to the couch and Sander makes sure to create a healthy distance and even has a pillow placed horizontally between them lest Hope tries to move closer. But he finally mans up and tells Hope that he's not going to take the girldick.

Starting off a sentence with ““As much as I love sex…” Totally normal thing posted by a 23-year-old dude. That post is not at all socially inept and creepy as fuck. Nope, you’ve got your shit together, Sander.

I was wondering this when seeing everything Harvard wants Jazz to do if he wants to keep his spot there. Even with two years of deferrals, Harvard saying he needs to have a job with a certain amount of hours and have a specific psych team in Boston seems like the kind of set-up Jeanette and Greg would threaten with legal action. “Harvard is creating roadblocks for our special angel, most famous and spectacular transgurl? We’ll take out the bastards.”

Harvard should have just pulled the acceptance, but they don’t want the blowback that comes from that, so there is probably a special agreement for Harvard to save face but lessen the risk that Jazz slits his wrists on the quad.

Exulansic is pretty much convinced Jazz has Prader-Willi. I like Exulansic as much as the next TERF, but she’s taken the medical nerd Dr. Google LARP too far. Horses not Zebras, but like any sperg munchie, it’s always about the super rare conditions and never about a more Occam’s Razor type thing like massive weight gain from a mood stabilizer or antipsychotic.
Exulansic also fetishes pharma and claims she herself has some super rare disability called Eagle’s syndrome so of course she’s going to slap on an equally rare diagnosis into Jazz.
I can concede that maybe Jazz doesn't have PW, however i think what Exulansic might be more correct about is that somewhere in the brain and hormonal maturity of Jazz the HRT and the puberty blockers arrested development and that this is causing the physical and mental symptoms.

It might not be PW, but there is something not right here for sure. And do we know if Jazz has ever been checked out for ASD? I bet Jeanette would never have allowed it!

Honestly we arent going to even have a name for the syndrome Jazz likely has because it is so new and seen as haram to do any kind of research on troonery that would have a slightly negative result.

I would argue that Jazz hasn't had REAL friends since junior high/puberty. That's what separated them (interest in boys) into real girls vs. not real girl.
Any real friends Jazz had grew up and matured and left him behind.

Remember the scene where Jazz was sitting in a circle with several other boys who had their puberty stunted and talked about their upcoming genital multilations? That was fucking disturbing & nightmarish.
Cults usually are. This is definitely a cult and everything about it screams that it's a cult. The inappropriate dual relationships between these surgeons and their clientele are also super disturbing. A surgeon who is hugging and kissing a patient? A patient who's dating an employee of their plastic surgeon's office? I am extremely curious as to what dual relationships exist with Jazz's mental healthcare providers and the Bloshinsky family or the alphabet soup community. None of these supposed professionals is acting ethically at all.

It's absolutely wrong.
"It's just the same as a cisgender womans!" Like....I have no idea of my vagina's depth? women don't put measuring dilators to get a feel of what they can fit up there?
Because a woman's vagina is an active sex organ that changes shape and depth with arousal. When a woman gets aroused the vagina dilates and lengthens and lubricates. Inverted penile skin and peritoneum can't respond to sexual stimuli that way. There are disorders like vaginismus that can happen to women, but the treatment for that isn't just "Shove this plastic thing in your vagina for 2 hours a day and measure how big of one you can fit in there."
