Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

The amount of gas lighting is almost awe inspiring.

The coronavirus vaccine made by Pfizer and BioNTech provides strong protection against Covid-19 within about 10 days of the first dose, according to documents published on Tuesday by the Food and Drug Administration before a meeting of its vaccine advisory group.

Despite the early protection afforded by the first dose, it’s unclear how long that protection would last on its own, underscoring the importance of the second dose. Previous studies have found that the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine gives the immune system a major, long-term boost, an effect seen in many other vaccines.

It's like most people are gold fish. Remember 1 dose to protect yourself and 2 to make sure?

These vaccines were sold as being better than measles vaccination. 95% effective at stopping transmission, measles vaccines are 93% effective.

Now we've gone from it will provide almost complete protection, to it will provide some protection to it will stop you ending up in hospital to you need to get a 3rd, 4th and 5th dose because we're the government and we say so.

Already done

However the booster roll out isn't going to plan

They were doing the whole 'there's a terrible shortage of children's vaccine so best get your kids jabbed NOW" nonsense in an attempt to get a preference cascade happening. From the few people I know who are either getting boosted or getting their kids jabbed the vaccination centres are empty.

More than half the population of Australia have now been infected with Covid. There is no one arguing that the vaccines are superior to natural immunity so the constant pushing to get everyone jabbed is just straight creepy.

I'd really like to know what exactly the terms of the contracts call for that the government signed with Pfizer and Moderna.
Im dead serious when I say that all of these mostly Western "public health" officials are either strung out on some good shit, possessed or playing some kind of Jigsaw game where their implant explodes if they don't get 95% of their population vaxxmaxxed by a certain date.

Depends on where you go, Tempe, Tucson and Phoenix are nuts about masks and vax, but besides those places no one cares. I moved back to the Midwest and people give even less of a fuck here than Arizona. People are too polite to ask for your papers or to wear a mask outside the most insane leftist enclaves.
Nuts about masks? I've still yet to wear one. No one ever asks me to put one on, either. If you go to grocery stores in the more liberal parts of town a lot of people are wearing them, but again I'm never asked to put one on.

That’s illegal in most urban areas in the US. Look it up. It’s illegal to feed the homeless directly.
And with good reason! It acclimitises them to being fed rather than finding their own food, which leads to them swarming crowds, shitting everywhere, crowding together on every perch and statue they can see- wait, that's pigeons...

Agreed, it seems they don't have a choice in the matter. Our politicians have obviously decided that Omicron Covid is the way out of the pandemic. They're refusing to pass anything but the mildest and useless of restrictions, face masks and banning dancing in night clubs and other nonsense. Otherwise they're letting it rip with the expectation that natural immunity is for sure a thing and that in the coming weeks Covid will become just another endemic common cold bug. Despite this they're still pushing everyone to get the booster and for children to get jabbed. They're also sperging hard when people raise the question of why we're continuing to vaccinate when herd immunity through infection is settled policy?

Literally no one, not even frothing at the mouth Covidians, argue that the vaccines give better immunity than people catching and recovering from the virus. Mortality rates and hospitalisations are ludicrously low with Omicron and no one is really claiming anymore that booster plus infection gives super immunity. Finally everyone who can catch Covid will catch Covid a week or two from now with 80-90% of the population having whole virus antibodies (hopefully).

To justify their irrational demands they've descended to claiming that the vaccines being safe as the main reason to take them, i.e. they don't work but as they don't kill most people who get them we should carry on. It's weird, bizarre and creepy.

I can only speculate that the contracts they signed with the vaccine makers, which was done when there was genuine panic and hysteria in the general public, have cast iron commitments to continue with mass vaccinations under any and all circumstances with enormous financial penalties if they don't. In other words the contracts aren't just purchase agreements (the government could just pay for them and throw them away) but require the vaccination program to carry on indefinitely with a guaranteed revenue stream for Pfizer and Moderna. The alternative is that they really are illumanti and the vaccines are the mark of the beast meant to sterilize the population, and I really hope that's not the case.

Mask mandates start up again today in my city lol. The news just put on the city council members speaking about it. Listen you fat bitch, I can't understand you with those layers of cloth over your face. Seriously.

There will be no fines. But a health inspector could come talk to you and then put a note in your file for when your license comes up. It literally "goes on your permanent record!"

That's the huge problem we have nowadays: the infantilization of the public. Why does a grown ass adult have to show a doctor's note to not get penalized at work? That's some grade school shit that should never be applicable in the adult realm. But, that's how we've been socialized from the start and somehow we let that bleed over into our adult lives. Like, why do ads for prescription drugs feature animated cartoon bladders and colons? Really?

It's imperative to have this authority/plebian divide to maintain a low-trust society and to let power-trippers in HR have their fun. God forbid we just trust our employees, treat them right and pay them in accordance with their skillsets.

Meh, then again, people are far less mature nowadays then they were even 30 years ago. I have a picture of myself at my 8th grade graduation and I look like a young adult ready to go to college.

Not sure if this is the correct thread.
New studie with 150.000 subjects show 70% mortality reduction for covid if ivermectin is used early or prophylactic.

I have a copy of "McGuffey's Fifth Grade Eclectic Reader". First printed 1879. 4th printing 1920. It instructs the 10 year child how to write better and provides several short stories, plays, and poems as examples.

I can barely understand it.

If you think Public Education is intended to make the 99% smarter, you need to wake the fuck up.

It can also be pointless. Ask anyone who works in a Maccies in a shitty part of town - well meaning fuckwits give the homeless (usually junkies) food, who then bring the food back in and try to get cash refunds for money to score with.

UK - "Compulsory face masks will be scrapped next week [and] Boris Johnson suggested a requirement for people with Covid-19 to isolate will also be dropped soon... he insisted that the government had “got the big things right [hahahahaha]” on Covid. (a)
26-27th end of Plan B in UK then, not that anyone followed it. Outrage over the parties feels like its becoming the usual jaded 'the government always fucks up' attitude but maybe this is the end of this and not just Bojo appeasing people. I wonder if that Chester GP stuff from a few pages back will actually turn out to be anything.

This is pretty fucking big. They’re essentially admitting defeat and that ripple will make its way in some form or another throughout Europe.

I'm not as optimistic. I think it's only the countries which had lax regulations like Sweden and countries where they had regulations but nobody gave a shit about them because they don't give a shit about what the government says like most of Slavland will follow suit with the UK in ending the farce. Coronacrazy countries like Austria, Germany and Italy will only double down and assfuck their populace even harder.

I believe there will be a societal pressure for the surrounding countries to adopt this change. They may double down, yes, but eventually they will give in. The cracks are already showing and they can’t hide it forever.

I'm starting to see people I know at businesses in town out with what everyone assumes is omicron. A couple of guys I shoot with have come down with it as well. The experiences of the ones I've talked to who have recovered are nearly identical. One day of increasing cold-like symptoms, one shitty day with a sore throat and sniffles, and a day of rapid recovery. No loss of smell or taste, no lingering symptoms, just a mild 3-day bump in the road.

Ages range from mid 30's to mid 50's, and as far as I know, all are un-vaxxed. I've been out and about quite a bit lately, in contact with people who got this thing, I'm 100% un-vaxxed and have never worn a mask, and I'm feeling fine. I can't help but think that my ongoing long term use of HCQ to manage Lupus has something to do with that.

ETA-Got an e-mail from one of the guys who was out sick who took a test, and he came up positive for the coof, so it's safe to assume that's what everyone has been getting sick with.

If it does, there will never be any public admission. If the government decided to pull the vaccines for some safety reason, everyone would just stop talking about them. All the messaging would be quietly withdrawn, the vaccination centres would be closed down without fanfare, and then anyone asking questions would simply be frozen out or dismissed as a conspiracy theorist. In that sense, the UK media-political class still operate as if it's the early 80s and they have a monopoly on communications. Tragic thing is, they've got good reason to act that way, given how credulous the majority are whenever someone with a nice suit and an important-sounding title tells them what to believe.

That's how abandoning of the vaccines would look here, anyway. Abrupt silence and a refusal to engage on the matter. In six months to a year, it would slip from the national conscious and be forgotten for a couple of decades, when the consequences would be untennable enough that it has to be addressed in the usual way: promises of compensation and "assistance" that require the survivors to jump through numerous hoops, for a pittance that they will generally receive just a few months before they die.

Just looked up a PDF version of that book. Compared to what I've seen in public school, that children's book is like a college level book today. Oh how we've regressed. Right off the bat, children actually learn how to properly use the English language. Since many of the prose are poems, I'm sure the well informed instructor would also teach children about meter. Unheard of these days unless you're homeschooled or in one of those rare, good schools.

I saw the index and was like "350 pages?! And they expected ELEMENTARY SCHOOL children to carry this shit around?"

No wonder everyone in the US was ready for World War 1; the kids were all ripped as fuck from carrying around that fucking beast of a book in their bookbag.

The rising and falling aspects are pretty dated (and terrible for penmanship) but I can now point out the proper pronunciation of "azure", which I've heard pronounced "a jour".
