Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Most of the 18 jurors selected Thursday in the federal trial against three Minneapolis cops charged in George Floyd’s death appeared to be white, as the judge told the potential panelists the case had “absolutely nothing” to do with race.

Former Officers Tou Thao, who is of Asian descent; Thomas Lane, who is white; and J Kueng, who is black; are charged with depriving Floyd of his civil rights as white former officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on the neck of the 46-year-old black man for almost ten minutes, killing him.

Kueng knelt on Floyd’s back, Lane restrained his legs and Thao prevented concerned citizens from intervening as the handcuffed man suspected of using a fake $20 bill struggled to breathe and eventually went limp.

Footage of the fatal May 25, 2020 encounter spurred a national reckoning over racial injustice that summer. Chauvin was convicted of murder and sentenced to 23 years in prison. He awaits separate sentencing in connection with a guilty plea to federal civil rights violation charges.

One of the 12 jurors selected to hear the case against the ex-cops appeared to be of Asian descent as well as one of the six alternates. The other 16 jurors appeared to be white. Federal justice officials did not release the demographics of the panel.
The jury that convicted Chauvin was half white, and more reflective of Minneapolis’ population, which is 64 percent white, according to the US Census. The jury selected Thursday was comprised of people from across Minnesota, which is 78 percent white.

U.S. District Judge Paul Magnuson insisted that race was a non-factor in the case to a potential black juror who questioned if he could be impartial “due to my color.”

“There is absolutely nothing about the subject of religion, race or ethnicity that’s involved in this case,” Magnuson said.

The concerned juror was eventually dismissed.

One legal expert agreed that Magnuson’s remark was only technically correct because the men on trial were accused of violating Floyd’s rights, not a bias crime.

“It is true that it has nothing to do with race in the framework of the law and facts,” Joe Daly, an emeritus professor at Mitchell Hamline Law School, said. “But from what I can see it has almost everything to do with race. It has to do with what we know about how police enforce minor crimes against African Americans, how police have acted toward African Americans, minority people.”

A local defense attorney who was not involved in the case said the murder “was kind of the tipping point of unarmed black men being killed at the hands of police.

It had everything to do with race,” Mike Brandt insisted.

“If I was (prosecuting this case), I would want a jury made up of Black jurors,” Brandt continued. “If I’m representing these cops, I would prefer a white jury, which is what they have here.”

The defendants could face live in prison if convicted under federal law, but sentencing would likely be more lenient.

There’s a significant amount of overlap between all of these categories. Even the normies were Never-Trumpers back in 2020 when every major media outlet was telling them to go out and vote (for the right candidate, of course).

Both sides use sheep to their advantage to win elections knowing that they’re an unreliable source of votes, but the Dems have been markedly better at tapping into the slacktivist psyche for a while now.

I determine this because there is a Daily tracker of approval by state called Civiqs that calls people up every day to get their opinion on Joe. He is now apparently at -22 net approve, with 56% dissaprove and 34 approve. Similar to what @Gehenna said earlier, around the low 30's there is a point where he is going to crater hard as his core base gets fully disenfranchised with him, and I believe thats already happening.

His disaproval has started to spike in the last 4 holdout states that give him a positive rating.

I posted this -less than- one month ago.

Maryland is still Approve +2, but the others have crashed.
Massachusetts is now approve +4.
Vermont is approve +3.
Hawaii is approve +8.

Meanwhile he still continues to fall in large blue states.
California at the time was disapprove+3, now it's disapprove+11. Illinois is similar. And he is still slowly moving downward in more red states.

And this was just ONE MONTH AGO.

He is supremely fucked. The trendline isn't going in his favor either. And this is all before the press conference and the VRA being killed gets factored in!

The fact that there are any states still approving of his work is remarkable to me.

It makes me wonder how low his numbers would be if he got the same negative coverage that Trump got 24/7.

These are the same people that see record high numbers of COVID cases in people with boosters, and their reaction is EVEN MORE boosters.

On some level, they are scared to just do nothing, so they have to do "something", even if that something has been shown not to work over and over again. And some people just think that it DOES work, but we didn't do it hard enough. I remember in late 2020/early 2021 talking to people that insisted the US NEVER locked down because the police didn't stop them from going outside like Australia.

That won't happen. The Slav is a notoriously sore loser; there will be EMP strikes if not actual air- and ground-burst hits on the CONUS if we get involved in a war against Russia and start winning (which we will, because they have never fought a peer opponent in modern times).

Can you imagine if we were allowed to view what goes on "behind closed doors" with this administration, not just the inferno they are trying to control but the act of actually trying to keep him alive and speaking.

At best shrill screaming, infighting, panicked decisions, 24 hour medical staff and deceit, at worse... I dont even want to imagine what evil satanic pseudo -magic shit they are doing each day. All I ask for is the "truth" in any situation, but this one, Im not sure I want to see what is actually going on.

Perhapse in the modern world their are more tools at one's disposal to try and hide when Satan "calls the loan", but I dont see them being able to hide all of this for much longer. I know some of you will laugh at my "primitive" view of this situation, but I can tell you as an informed observer of politics for my entire life, what is occurring now is on a different level than before...and its not just because incompetent college students have control now.

I honestly don't understand how that hasn't already happened, but then again...I suppose the issue isn't so much that there isn't a person inside that's willing to spill the beans. The problem may be that the media group (or person) they want to leak that information to will rat that person out to the current regime. And if that person so happens to go to anyone but say MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, etc. they can just be maligned as conspiracy theorists anyway.

Something I didn't see mentioned at all, probably because listening to the turtle talk makes one bored to tears, is that McConnel was rather stridently, for him, going after Schumer for daring to try to change the rules of the senate. It's basically the one thing that can actually get under the turtle's shell. So yah, the Senate Republicans just got a lot less likely to entertain anything from the Democrats.


And so any big legislation and damn near all small legislation is dead for the rest of this year until November. There will be no BBB, there will be no Voting Rights bills, there will be nothing. The Democrats have lost for at least a year and increasingly likely for a lot longer than that.


This is not, never was, nor ever will be 'according to plan'. This was not how any of this was supposed to go and they don't -have- any other plans. Oh, they will definitely concoct new ones, but stop jerking yourselves off thinking they have some sort of plan or idea.

I think that Pelosi realized they had a tiget by the tail and couldn't let go of it right after the government shutdown a couple of years ago That's when she seemed to personally deteriorate. Since then, it's been ever more outlandish and ridiculous attempts to try to change the momentum of the party and its supporters.

From starting WW3 due to Solameini, to the impeachment farce, to (in my opinion) knowing about Covid about the time Solameini was killed, or at latest during the congressional part of the impeachment, I think she either knew of it, or was part of its release. To election fucketry, to the tech companies getting more draconian, to George Floyd and all that entailed, to bullshit interpretations of January 6th, I think she realizes the tail cannot be let go of. I think the corruption in this fall's election is going to be through the roof. Too many in the democratic party and supporters could be facing all sorts of investigations.

I bet they are fortifying the swamp like mad right now to prevent the blowback they will get if they lose in November.

I think they just have no idea how to let go of the tiger's tail right now, and maybe were hoping they could heap it all on Biden, but have realized that won't work. I bet they wish the wokesters would just shut up, but they keep on feeding the tiger meth instead.

There is no way Biden isn't undergoing real nursing home levels of elder abuse behind the scenes. Bet you after Joe walked back after that press fiasco his chief of staff openly yelled at him. I've been through old people with dementia, it's frustrating as all hell and I've seen all sorts of verbal abuse hurled at these poor bastards.

Ever since Kennedy presidents wear makeup to look good on TV. Biden is the first president to wear makeup to hide elder abuse bruises.

Doomers are fine, and as much as "McAuliffe is going to steal the governorship from an inaugurated Youngkin" is exceptional and funny, they're still decent to speak with.

What perturbs me are people who are clearly and completely demoralized, like a certain clock-flinging Irishman who vanished from this site long ago. Their knowledge of history was interesting and they were a great poster, but their contempt for anyone uttering anything positive oozed from their words, to the point where it became unbearable. And you know they're right, but fuck...
