Correct. This is Fed court. Double Jeopardy doesn’t apply because these charges are related to the separate Fed crime of depriving GF of his rights.
I’ll tell you what, in the long run, this is better for Chauvin, though the other officers are now fucked. Chauvin is fucked anyway, though, and he’s never going to see the light of day again on his state conviction. What a Fed conviction means for him is just a second life sentence PLUS since I imagine he’ll be sentenced concurrently with his State conviction, there’s a decent chance of him getting transferred to Fed Prison.
Fed Prison is superior to State Prison in just about every way. I mean, Chauvin is going to be in maximum security plus segregated in either State or Fed Prison but Fed Prison is better than State Prison. You have more access to programs and services. You have better security, better food, better everything.
The Feds want a show trial, so I dont know that they’d allow Chauvin to plead out to avoid a trial, but if I were his lawyer I’d be trying to negotiate a guilty plea and cooperation at trial against the other former cops who have been charged in exchange for a guarantee of a transfer to Fed Prison to serve out his days.

No, every single war since the end of WWII has been fought against third world countries and embarrassingly we've actually lost several of those conflicts. We have no non speculative data on how the U.S would fare against actual world superpowers but recent threat analysis and war games suggests we'd either lose to China and Russia or win but suffer so many losses it would cripple the nation.
Tl'dr not good. And this isn't even taking into account that most modern conflicts between superpowers would go nuclear before the land invasion stage even started.

They'd not go nuclear. Despite the doomsday belief, its basically an unspoken rule between them that any land war would not go nuclear unless one side tried to absolutely obliterate the other. The nukes would likely play their biggest role when it came time to come to the peace table, as leverage for the loser to avoid another treaty of Versailles. .

I'm surprised rural America still votes for Democrats at all. Most Democrats are urban people and have no idea what rural life is like, and their policies have almost nothing to offer rural dwellers. Democrat policies are city-centric and always will be, and they all view rural people are idiot bumpkins to begin with (even though they insist otherwise, we've all known these people in private).
Thanks to the influence of Millennial conservatives, the Republican party, at least certain segments of it, are becoming a little less retarded, although that might be totally undone by the Trump cult of personality which is more concerned with macho swagger and "stickin' it to the libs" than seeking actual substance. You even have Republicans pushing for marijuana legalization, that's something. The Republican party may just end up being the more moderate, more permissive party in the future, given how authoritarian the left wing mindset has become. Because the Religious Right is mostly dead and gone, and as much as the left wants to pretend the fundamentalists still control the Republican party, right now anarchist and communist chic is gripping the left wing and they're more fundamentalist than most Republican Christians.
