Maybe they wont invade. Russia has succeeded in breaking France and Germany away from the US as they've agreed to talks on Ukraine without the US at the table. This is big.

its in their best interests to avoid a war. They cant afford the casualties and expenses.

2nd in command of German navy says quiet part out loud

"Putin wants respect... Giving some respect is low cost or no cost. Russia deserves respect. We, India, Germany need Russia against China"

"I am a very radical Roman Catholic. I’m believing in God & I believe in Christianity & there we have a Christian country even Putin, he’s an atheist but it doesn't matter. Having this big country on our side..."

The UK has released a press statement stating that they have intelligence that the Russians intend to place their own puppet in charge of Ukraine

It's possible. But we should take into account that the Russians have spent a shit ton of money on moving troops and equipment to their border with Ukraine. Last time it was a very minuscule amount compared to what they have now. Putin is gonna have to really make a good deal for Russia or he's gonna take a lot of shit from this. Yeah, he is a dictator but a dictator still has to deliver something substantial unless your someone like Kim Jung Un. Putin is at this point definitely intending on invading one way or another and the only way he won't is if either the US or the EU makes some very good concessions. The EU breaking from the USA, in my opinion, isn't good enough for Putin considering the EU is still a threat to Russia's interests, either way, America is still influential enough that the EU would still need to rely on them even if they agree to politically break away from the USA.

I think that's right, but the same applies to Germany, France, UK, and the US but even more so. None of these countries can afford another medium-sized war, morale is already low at home, and public opinion wouldn't support fighting for any length of time, especially once the gas is turned off.

Nato is more fragile than Russia. They both have a lot to lose over which particular group of foreign controlled kleptocrats get to run Kiev, but Putin probably has less to lose in this situation given they're already under sanctions and Ukraine is already a Nato/US/EU puppet.

I dont think anyone is seriously thinking NATO will physically intervene. It will be intelligence and military-monetary aid only. US Spyplanes have been over Ukraine for weeks. RC-135's, JSTARs and Global hawks can feed real time information to the Ukrainians. such info can turn the tide of a battle in an instant.

The idea that the Russians (or Germans) would lift a finger to contain China is pure fantasy. On the flipside France's chimpout on losing out on an opportunity to fuck over the Australian military on another wave of terrible military contracts (again, the French have been robbing the Aussies blind militarily with garbage like the Eurocopter Tiger or threatening to withhold aircraft parts during the Vietnam war) as led a lot of people to see the French as dead weight. Honestly, this could be the excuse we need to relocate US Forces in Germany to better countries like Poland and Romania. It shouldn't be surprising a government infested with former Stasi assets are bowing to the Russians.

  1. Russia threatens Ukraine.
  2. World supports Ukraine by sending a fuckton of military equipment.
  3. Ukraine coup, new leadership favors Russia.
  4. Everyone has just given a fuckton of military equipment to Russia.
Genius.

That seems to be the plan from what Biden said a couple days ago, with Zelensky going nuts and crying about betrayal most foul.

However, whether Biden's team will be able to stop other deep staters dragging US forces into a war with Russia is an open question, da? Lot of people in Washington DC seem eager for this fight, it's the neocons' wet dream.

If that was going to happen there would be no invasion force at all.

This is incorrect. The only thing the leadership in America can afford is war. They are completely off the reservation.

Well now who says it's an invasion force? The West says "invasion." Vlad would probably say "peace keeping."

  4. In response to the civil unrest from the coup in Ukraine, Russia sends in peace keeping forces that were serendipitously conducting military exercises across the border to stabilize its neighbor and facilitate the installation of the popular uprising's leaders.
  5. Everyone has just given a fuckton of military equipment to Russia.
Imagine how fucking drop dead hilarious it'd be if they did this barely weeks after what happened in Kazakhstan.
