Sorry if it was already asked, any law-types here know if there is there any chance his current legal situation in the US can be affected by anything he does abroad? Or does US law mostly not give a fuck in that situation.

If he were Australian or UK citizen he could be charge for having sex with someone under the age of 18 (or 16 if you are aged between 16-18 ), even if it occurred in Portugal where the age of consent is 14. A good case to highlight this would be Richard Huckle who got life in prison (before someone killed him, god bless them) due to offending in Malaysia and India which had blurrier laws regarding age of consent. I don't know if US laws work that way also, but if he goes online bragging about having banged a 15yo as an Aussie or UK citizen then he's going to end up charged.

I mean, libertarians may argue that this is excessive, but I'm of the opinion all liberties end in concerning someone having sex with a child.

How the fuck can you be prosecuted by the UK for sex with a 16-year-old when the national age of consent in the UK is 16, likewise Australia the highest is 17 in a single Australian state and 16 in the rest with their CP laws even having 16 as the cut off (supposedly this is a vestige from 40 years ago when it was legal to star in porn at 16 in Australia before it was raised to 18 apparently due to complaints from American expats and tourists)

I was quoting Aussie laws mainly as that is what I'm familiar with. The age of consent of 16-17 only really applies to people of the same age group. If you have sex with a 16 yo as someone in their 20s or upwards you will still be charged with statutory rape. Furthermore if you move in with someone who is under the age of 18, whilst you are over, and have sex with them, then you have carried out a sex act with someone under your care (18 being the age of majority) and still charged with a sex crime. If you're a teacher who has sex with a student aged 16-18 you are still charged. Age of consent laws here are complicated, and you're better off just sticking to the rule if it is legal for them to buy alcohol then it is safe as there are many caveats and exemptions to the stated aoc rules.

Yeah, I checked the UK's Sexual Offences Act 2003, and the sex tourism section sets age of consent for British citizens abroad to 16 (18 if prostitution) or the age of consent in the jurisdiction of the activity which ever is higher.

Meanwhile per the Australian Federal Police 16 is the limit overseas.
