Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Interesting, why flip CO and not NM? I see NM as more likely to flip given the Dems are bleeding Hispanic support. Switch OH to deep red, it's not a swing state anymore. IL and WA should be deep blue, whoever the Dem candidate is will win those by at least 10 points no problem. VA flipping is very optimistic, I don't see the 2021 election being a trend there. I'd also put MN as light blue, it was close in 2016 but was not competitive in 2020.

Bidens campaign are just trolling us right now.
Apparently it's the work of a super-PAC called "MeidasTouch". They proudly list their campaign ads here: https://www.meidastouch.com/videos and from a quick glance they all look just about as terrible.

Folks, I'd be more concerned if Joey was having National Guard "round-out brigades" called up. Takes a while to get them ready to go.

I sit here and think, what the fuck. Throughout the Cold War we never fought the USSR directly. And now there's a chance of war with Russia over this shit? Please.

Way past time for all concerned to take a fucking chill pill. Neither side needs this war. Best way to win this one is not to play.

That kind of firm decision needs an adult at the wheel on both sides, which the US does not have at all thanks to the factions controlling Biden.

Maybe a question to the military folks here. What's the obvious signs that this adminstration is actually serious about this new war? Reinstating the draft? Calling up the National Guards? Hiring more PMCs?
Typically it would be to start putting units on alert and to be ready to deploy in x hours.

For example when Trump was saber rattling with best Korea he had planes already loaded with soldiers and equipment just sitting on runways waiting for the go word. This is not a normal administration though so who fucking knows.

This is my general stance. I could detail what to expect in normal world, but I really don't think any of that applies here.

I've never been military, but PMCs are the only politically viable option. Actually using US troops requires a casus belli of some kind and maintaining Ukrainian sovereignty isn't it. Even then, their mandate will probably be limited to evacuating diplomats and destroying documentation of Biden's dealings with their government, not actually fighting Russian troops. Really, what does the US want out of Ukraine? I know what Russia wants and how badly they want it. If I don't know what the US wants, how can I determine how badly the US wants it?

From this, I'm surmising that none of the usual preparations have been made yet, correct? So Biden is currently just sabre-rattling.

I assume the deployment will be just like It's a Mad, Mad, Mad world.

Never underestimate weak men in positions of power trying to look strong.

If anyone cares about the current Russia - US stand off/ shitshow, here's a quick rundown.

Biden is egging a Russian response to "rally the flag" to try and save his poll numbers. Also, part of the Deep State needs more shit to do after Trump ended the Afganistan gravy train.

Putin sees the encroachment of Ukraine joining NATO a security issue because it allows nukes to be placed within such a close range of Moscow that it wouldn't allow for ample retaliation.

Think of it like the Cuban Missile Crisis, but in reverse.

There's also a lot of history of Russia and Ukraine, including Holodomor, Russian diaspora across Ukrainian borders before the formation of the USSR, and a lot of other specifics that I don't know, and am getting acquainted with. Essentially there's ethnically Russian (and even those with Russian citizenship) in Ukraine that used to commute to Russia to work before relations between the two nations broke down. The Russian side doesn't trust the Ukrainian side (since they are one of the most corrupt governments in the world) to take care of them along with potential NATO missiles being installed. The Russian people think that those people are stuck in Ukraine and actually are critizing Putin for NOT DOING ENOUGH. And a lot of other shit I am missing out on due to puddle deep understanding of the situation.

Meanwhile, all this Russia alogging is driving them to ally with China. This is a foreign relations disaster because the two of them could probably match us pretty easily.

It's a proper shitshow. I wish we had a president who could handle it.

I’d rather go to prison than fight for Biden over some dumb neoliberal shit in Europe. Now I would have no qualms getting drafted for Taiwan, but that’s a different situation. The neoliberals and the progressives hate Russia but suck China’s dick.

We deployed actual troops to Syria without declaring war. In fact, our brass lied to the President about them being there, and were celebrated in the press for doing so.

I think this about sums it up. I also think the Democrats think their anti-Russia hysterics during the Trump years means they can somehow rally the base around a war, or at least delivering weapons and strongly-worded memos. And don't forget how much money the Ukrainians have given to various members of our political class, not just the Biden family.

After Afghanistan? Oh fuck yah, it'd be the bomb to end all bombs.
Yes, but the thing is - say he drags it out a bit, does a proxy war, maybe escalates to a hot conflict with Russia itself. 2024 comes around and if that conflict is still going on, it tanks most chance Trump has. Because Trump is a great president to have when you're wanting to avoid war, but he is not experienced with real war and the upper military brass are not trustworthy. People would want someone with "experience."

Not saying this will happen, just saying I can't help but escape the thought that it factors into their considerations. They know Biden is already a lame duck and he won't get a second term, might as well make sure no one else can win either.

Let's say Biden does deploy troops for "humanitarian" reasons. What exactly is their goal if they don't plan to fortify Ukraine's defenses? If it's to bully Russia down, I can tell you from personal experience that a broken finger deters a bully even if he is bigger and stronger. Especially when that bully doesn't have a real reason to be involved in the first place. After all, Ukraine wanted sovereignty, not become a NATO member. If how the Democrats treated the Nat'l Guard the same way they did after Jan. 6 is an indication, they'll just throw troops over there without setting up actual FOBs like retards, needlessly get people killed, and get stuck in a quagmire within a month. It wouldn't matter if they repel Russian troops completely when the typical attitude of the Left refuses to consider acceptable casualties.

And what did those troops do exactly? Observing the situation. The Free Syrian Army had been defeated years ago, so US training and supplies weren't going to them. They clearly didn't affect the course of that war seeing as how Assad won.
