Tranch thread is at page 666! Quite relevant as it is Alpaca Hell on Earth.

But seriously I really do worry about those pacas out in the Colorado cold. It's La Nina this winter so isn't it colder than average now?
I suspect that they're going to be "downsizing" the herd (read: animals dying from neglect and not getting replaced) as they pivot to charity grifting given that Penny is bragging about all the experience he has with mutual aid charity work. Almost all their posting is about white savior scams now. They gave away yarn they couldn't sell to get rid of it and will likely go into a burn pile at the reservation. They probably sold very little, if any, yarn at the convention.

Maybe they finally realized that it's a money pit to keep all those animals. :optimistic: Their brand is so wrapped up in the whole bro ranch thing that they can't just announce that they're not doing alpaca fiber production anymore. Obviously the alpaca fiber didn't work out. The Tranch still has bills to pay, and none of them will just... get a job or anything.

They have a fireplace.

The tranchers would be doing more "mutual aid" by paying a local energy company to deliver fueloil to run an oil furnace whatever it'll cost them in gas to inefficiently haul firewood from Colorado.

In energy terms: one truck load, 1/3rd of a cord of wood is worth about 1200kWh of heat, if we assume it’s dry, seasoned and burned in a good condition wood stove.
We already calculated they use about 56 gallons of gas for the round trip (with the small truck). There is 33.7kWh worth of energy in each gallon, so they would be burning 1887kWh to haul 1200kWh. Even assuming they pick the wood up closer to the destination, it’s still a total loss, thermodynamically speaking. Lord Kelvin would like a word.

Plus, it’s a bad idea to encourage use of firewood for heating in a community like that anyway, it’s well established that bad air quality from wood smoke kills people early and gives kids asthma. I know sometimes there’s no choice but again it’s the classic well intentioned aid that perpetuates bad things.

Apologies for the autistic units btw.

Didn't know wood donation was a thing. However, it seems that people who collect wood donations are pretty particular on the types of wood they want. There are also rules and regulations about this sort of thing.
  • Don't move firewood- instead, buy it where you'll burn it or gather on site when permitted. Learn more at DontMoveFirewood.org.

Federal law makes it illegal to move any regulated items from quarantined zones out of those states and into South Dakota without a state or federal inspection certificate or a stamp certifying compliance of proper treatment, such as a heat treatment.

Knitta please
Here's the thing: they could easily make them themselves. I've looked at multiple knitting machines because I've been interested in getting one over the years and a single circular machine can blast out hats faster than any experienced knitter can.

They have the yarn but alpaca yarn is actually not good for many items. It stretches and doesn't hold shape so gloves and coats would be terrible. Hats would probably also stretch a well. Not to mention that animal hair yarn is difficult to take care of. They could probably just go for something like acrylic.

So literally all they need to do is get some cheap acrylic red heart pound of love, a circular machine and then just crank a wheel for thirty minutes at the most and they'll have a hat.

Also for charity knitting, many of them have restrictions and rules. For example what yarn to use and what colors and such. An big issue when it comes to native american charity is that there are multiple instances in those rules where they say over and over again "Do not give us things with owls on it. It is a bad omen. Do not make anything with an owl." Do you think they'll even be able to know that? They'll probably just get things that the natives don't even need or want.

Funny, it looks like there are already plenty of organizations who deal in helping PR with firewood: https://www.google.com/search?q=firewood+pine+ridge+reservation
So they have their own firewood operation that provides employment, is a net benefit and doesn’t break any laws.

That’s a sad read. 5 grand would have gone a long way there huh.

Why couldn’t they have popularised this organisation, done fund raisers in their name? Just makes it all the more aggravating that Penny has to know better and insert himself into this kind of situation for his own gain.

It’s fucked up. Now I’ll have to throw in a paypal donation to not be a hypocrite.

Because they couldn't skim donations and get lego for Kevin if they were just directing funding towards needy people, plus Penny wouldn't get to pose as a hero.

It's like how if Penny wanted to help out homeless people in his local area, he could head to the Custer County Community Sharing Center in Westcliffe which is run by Hunger Free Colorado with donations, and put some of the tranchers to work as volunteers. But instead he wants another GoFundMe to buy socks and then just.... give them out?

They can't roleplay women properly, yet they fail at being tough men.

What a quandry.
It is so HARD to look at them and call them chicks. I've seen so many more trans women, even if they don't pass, put in more effort than anything.

Lol.

It takes several cords of wood to heat a small house for the winter.

A truck bed holds 1/3 of a cord.
You know if they still had those trailer trucks like they did in their recycling days ( :story: ) they might be able to pull more. Gee Penny, what happened to those?

"We have all this firewood but no petrol money, and the reservation has run out. Please go on our KoFi and GoFundMe if you don't want the Lakotas to freeze to death".
It kills me every time I read these morons beg for cash when they themselves are in need of it. You can't run a successful charity when you yourself are hurting for money!

:stress: I was about to type how are they this stupid, but we know how.

What a waste of firewood.

Penny is such an asshole for doing this. It's been said but it is so upsetting.

It is truly remarkable how they manage to completely and utterly fuck up everything they attempt to such extraordinary lengths. Even the smallest ounce of common sense isn't present here. Shame you can't buy common sense on amazon.

Only a matter of time before troons get in on that. Surprised they've not started a grifting as a knitty titty committee to shill their scratchy ass yarn for troons who can't get bolt ons.
I can see it now:

If they want the feel good of donating physical items, there are plenty of charities struggling in Colorado that could actually distribute them and probably pretend to be a good photo op. Shit, they could actually balance the damage Kindness and Paul inflict on the food banks there.

Hell if they really need that MUH HECKIN NATIVE AMERICANS grift to try to massage their own guilt for being a bunch of trigger-happy white men destroying beautiful land, it has been pointed out that there are reservations in their own state they could work with.

But no, Penny wants the acclaim that comes from Kevin filming him handing a sack of useless dirty alpaca wool to Pine Ridge because that's the only reservation a college twitter leftist and soy troons might recognize. Trying to maximize those social credits instead of actually doing any good. Good game.

In what reality is it acceptable to open carry in a strangers home? Carry appendix IWB and quit the larping for 15 minutes while dealing with "normal" people because the extra second it takes to draw is not going to matter. Most people get sketched out with guns being on display unless they grew up in that atmosphere or have been acclimated to it. I know it's all been said before, but these idiots do their image more harm than any of the "transphobes" could ever accomplish.

I know the second half of this this will piss a few of y'all off giving how churches genocided natives I get it but they're still posturing and that makes me mad lol.

Their grift update lol. Dead still.
This was painfully embarrassing.
The rug yarn isn't listed on their website (which isn't accepting orders "at the moment") and their etsy store is closed. It wouldn't surprise me if Penny's given up trying to sell the yarn - some knitters on here reviewed the yarn (our undercover furry snapped photos of the yarn when they had that stall at DenFur) and found it to be essentially unworkable - besides the terrible quality, it's spun so large that you'd essentially only be able to knit with giant knitting needles ("it's basically rope"). Their primary audience - troons - also generally only purchase novelty merch and won't generally be interested in any crafting supplies

There seems to be more yarn than Amazon purchases.

I was also going to point out moving firewood that fire lets pests and disease spread.
Moving firewood to the is not just wasteful its actively destructive.
