After an explanation and clarification it makes sense, but do you not agree that the wording is very easily misinterpreted? 99% of the time when users talk about a “slow thread” they mean that it gets very little traffic, because we humble end-users never have to deal with the consequences of a 4000-page thread lagging the mod tools.

I was admittedly retarded and thought that when Ride mentioned it being slow to do shit in it was to do with reporting posts but tbh I did try to relay the message right after he responded to me that it was due to thread issues and not some conspiracy. In retrospect I probably came off as bitchy too regarding the prediction that A&H would just get flooded with Biden articles, but it was made clear in the first and only reply I got from the mod that it wasn't some conspiracy or anything it was just a combination of factors of the thread being hard to work with and no one on staff really wanting to work with a new one at the time.
Apologies null for my spergery and any offense I may have caused, I do appreciate that you give us a place to sperg.

The mod worded himself very poorly (how could we know he was talking about mod tools?), and considering how active the thread was he really should have spun off an official sequel thread and linked it instead of telling people to scatter. My two cents, as worthless as they are... I didn't know what Ride was talking about with slowness. The thread being "slow" didn't make any sense, but I could see them using that to mean "you fuckers are offtopic AGAIN this isn't chat come on" or something. The followup thread (this one) had the perquisite shitposting I expected. I didn't expect a visceral reaction to the bantz, but I'm not the one on the receiving end, either. I imagine that gets real old real quick after a while.

I like the idea of having a general "American Politics" thread. If it's causing problems after it gets too big, maybe we can just do what Penny Arcade does -- for them, after 100 pages they close and recreate threads. I don't know what it looks like in the backend here, 4000 is too much... is 3000 ok? 2000? Should we just make plans for those ongoing megathreads, if they even still exist, to be recreated after they hit a certain size?

More seriously, if it's an issue moderating larger threads maybe they should institute a cap on threads requiring news ones every X number of pages.

We actually used to, ala. The old Brianna Wu threads back during GG. When everyone stopped doing it I assumed Josh found a way to mitigate or stop the issue.
