Absolutely repugnant. On top of that, he was sent to a women’s prison? The sooner this troon shit is over the better off society will be. I may be too optimistic, but it seems like the general public’s support for these troons is decreasing rapidly. More people are publicly speaking out and defending those who do speak out (Rowling, Dave, Atwood, etc).

Typically, people become more tolerant of minority groups with more exposure since you get the the opportunity to see that they are normal people. However, it seems like the more people are exposed to troons, the less public support they get.

This is such a non issue. They have to "out" themselves by putting down their pronouns. So what is it, Rose? Do you want people to call you the "right" pronouns or do you want people to not know that you're trans?

It's not the first time something like this has happened. About a decade ago they were demanding you write "trans* community". Obviously nerdy trans women went for the "*" in the sense of a wildcard indicator on a computer (as in "trans*" = "transsexual", "transgender") despite this not being how English orthography works... but anyway the idea was that this would be more inclusive to include the nascent non-binary people (who generally called themselves "genderqueer" or "agender" back then) and people who "weren't cis but didn't want to be labelled transgender either". It was around the time this graphic was circulating students unions:

The Oxford English dictionary even added "trans*" as a word. Of course this was just in time for people to decide that actually problematic because it implied that some people weren't "trans enough" for the normal label. You'll also notice that this is also when the community decided some people actually weren't trans enough - suggesting feminine men, masculine women or drag performers are transgender is now transphobic and in fact drag queens and feminine presenting men like Harry Styles are appropriating trans people and need to be stopped (unless they then claim to be trans). So it marches on in clown world.

We found that women accounted for the clear majority of victims (105), with only two male and three trans victims. Overall, the vast majority of victims (85) were also street-based sex workers.

So, were they killed for being trans, or were they killed for being women? Trans women who finance their transition through sex work used to be primarily HSTS types, so they are very often feminine gay men who pick up male clients. Some of the deaths are definitely gay panic, but some might just be because they passed well enough and got murdered by a drugged up john. It's really not the transness that's the core of their vulnerability though.

This always chaps my hide. As I've said, I have bipolar disorder and chronic pain disorders. I don't work now because my husband earns enough that I don't have to, but when I did I worked through depression strong enough to give me sucidial ideations, extreme pain every shift, and lots of fatigue. The only time I asked off for "mental health" was when I was in the hospital, and even then I felt terrible for not giving more than a couple days notice! (I ended up quitting because I didn't want them to be short handed if I was in there long term)

If you're absent, others have to pick up your slack. If you've got something contagious, yes, stay home. But if you're "just" depressed, you can still work - it's just harder to get stuff done. You can even act cheerful and happy if you're in a customer service position. It sucks, it's hard, but it can be done.

I'm not trying to downplay mental health issues, I'd never do that. Sometimes a mental health day is a valid reason to call out, like if you've been scheduled for seven days in a row or had a death in the family. But saying you need more than a day or two here and there is a red flag to me, and I'm about as far from a high achiever as they come.
