I’m a bit torn on whether the cat thing is real or not. Lou is not creative enough to pull off a lie like this long-term. He’s describing real symptoms of a sick and dying cat. Their cat probably is dying.

The grift? Yes that’s absolutely bullshit. Denise is going to pay for everything and Lou is gonna pocket the money for himself. Pretty sure that goes without saying, though.

I fully believe the cat is dying. It's hard to get immediate vet appointments right now, I've seen friends with waits as long as 2 weeks recently. I also think that when Denise called the vet, they absolutely told her "if this is an emergency, go to the animal hospital" (of which there are a few in the surrounding area that close at normal hours, or, if they want to travel a bit, PVSEC is 24/7 I think.) But Denise probably knows that'd be crazy expensive and decided to just let Lover take his chances because with symptoms like that, he's probably already done for.

The kindest thing they could do is beg the vet to squeeze him in for euthanasia, but they won't.

Lou is now focusing on a $400 grift to try and save the family cat, whom he suddenly considers to be a son.
Lou, with a cat as old as Lover, if he's struggling to do basic functions like urination and moving around and is mostly focused on laying in one spot, the money might be better spent for putting him down. It's the merciful thing in this instance.

Lou is exaggerating the state of that cat's health, no doubt about it. Here's how I think it'll play out -

• Lou will continue to be retarded and outright admit to spending donation money on food wants.
• A day or so before the "appointment", Lou will put out a tweet about how Lover tragically passed away regardless of whether he actually did or not, and obviously not post proof about it because most people are at least decent enough not to prod him for proof of a dead cat.
• Lou will put out a vague tweet asking people who want their money back to ask him in the most convoluted way possible.
• Conveniently, another "emergency" will crop up around this time.
• He'll still be spending the money while all this is happening, mind you. Possibly would have already bought his new shiny as a consolation gift for himself.
• He will put out a new grift post, pretending as if he still isn't sitting on Lover's donation money.
• He will never speak of the incident again.

I'd argue that he does have a physical compulsion. People with non chemical dependencies show similar brain responses to their chosen addiction. Whether it be videogames, working out, hoarding etc...it all releases happy chemicals that start not being released unless they're participating in their addiction.

I have no doubt his over indulgence, depression and people enabling him have made it so that his brain doesn't give him any serotonin or dopamine for regular experiences.

If he doesn't partake, he doesn't get that emotional boost cause he's fucked his brain.

Of course recovery is easier than someone with a chemical dependence but it would require enough insight and desire to change to withstand the period of depression that would follow as he "dries out."

Unfortunately not only does Louis not have that insight or desire, he also has a remarkably low tolerance for discomfort so he will never change

Lou has pissed a lot of people off. I think it's much more likely that it's one of the enemies he's made at cons or a pissed-off ex-friend than a Kiwi. It could be a lurker, I guess, but the posts give off a distinct MATI energy that points towards a personal grudge. Just my two cents.

When my dog's kidney disease got really bad and he was too sick to eat, I paid for one of those vets that come to your house. It was the hardest fucking thing I've ever done--he was my best friend for 12 years--but it wasn't fucking right to keep him suffering and confused just because I wasn't ready to say goodbye.
