Can we finally cancel the Whedonverse now - He was a toxic nerd dick and Firefly wasn’t that great

Firefly is ok, but watching it today you can see the proto-woke themes just below the surface. If it had been made even six or seven years later it would have been dire.

Also everyone forgets about Dollhouse which was just 'Joss Whedon's Fetishes: the TV Show'.
I never saw Dollhouse. What was it like?

Eliza Dushku played a ninja who was injected with personalities every week to insert her into situations to be violated or whatever so she could go super sayian and fuck people up

if you are really interested you can watch it on Tubi

On the flip side, the non-proto-woke stuff is pretty solid.

Oh God yes. Can you imagine [current year] versions of Jayne, Simon, River, and Zoe?

2010s Firefly would definitely have Wash and Zoe in an open marriage where she repeatedly cucks him.
Not emasculating enough, and besides, a straight couple having a dogshit relationship is Whedon at his most basic.

I'm thinking that Zoe would be a better pilot than Wash (who she treats like shit, and the show takes her side on it,) a better medic than Simon, and able to OHKO Jayne.

River and Simon's relationship would basically be reversed, except she would still be the genius savant psychic obviously. She broke herself out of the institute and then went on to rescue her hapless brother.

Jayne would be a useless buffoon whose only job is to be stupid, fail, and get upbraided by the hypercompetent women. That, or he's gay and never lets you forget it.

Toxic? Did I accidentally go to Reddit again?

Whedon's a cunt but he's being destroyed for the pettiest shit so I'm not going to celebrate it. And I'm still of the opinion Ass of Ultron was the best Avengers movie.

I never liked FireFly.
That probably makes you a better person than me

I dunno. He tottally fucked several of his starlets. He threatened and berated others.

I can ignore Joss sexual assaulting and harassing actors that's just a normal day in Hollywood. No he's greatest sin is that after Avengers all movie characters have to talk like a quippy asshole.
Firefly was good, very good in fact. I liked Angel, too. But you could argue that, despite how good they were, the cost to entertainment was too high because his overall success led to the Whedonization of characters everywhere.

...Joss is a semi ‘woke’ white man who plays at the role for good boy points but will turn 360 and betray his principles over his ego and his dick any day of the week

So, this would essentially be the average soulless bug person?

To be fair a lot of us were teens at the time at oh my god making her bf a vampire with a soul who lost his soul when he came then she had to kill him but only when he got his soul back was so emotional guys was like PAINFUL

Wait, he lost his soul when he fucked her and orgasmed? That has to be the stupidest plot device in history.

Basically, yeah. The whole Whedonverse is filled with bullshit like that; lesbian witches going into magic rehab, Mean Girl bullies who rehabilitate themselves by becoming a conduit for demons, and OH MY GAWD the main character is a super pretty cheerleader but also a nerdy outsider and she's got TWO hunky vampires vying for her love.

Also the characters randomly break out into musical numbers for no goddamn reason. Those are widely considered to be the "best" moments of Whedon's oeuvre, and culminated in an online-distributed indie musical about a science geek and wannabe-supervillain who, while trying to impress an evil horse, inadvertently murders the girl he loves and traumatizes Superman so badly that Superman winds up in therapy.

Yes, but unlike the average soulless bug person, he's made millions of dollars doing it.

Old comic, but ages like fine wine:
