Sam Hyde

idubbz didn't censor Joey Gambino's name like Weck asked him to do, lol

Wow that's really really shitty. Even if Weck is full of shit (which, weird thing to lie about because its kind of one of those names that you either know or you don't) what a dick move. Weck wasn't the focal point of the "documentary".

I struggle to understand how he didn't realize the whole thing was a bit from the get-go - so many red flags that should have given it away but he just accepted it all as it fit his fantasy of what an alt-right crazy guy should look like.
If only idubbz had an autism picture book guide to read human emotions...
alas...

Watching through it now. Sam actually gives a pretty convincing performance in his car while Ian asks about Dani. Even knowing that Sam is lying, his answers sound convincing. When I watched Sam's cut of the documentary, it seemed like they weren't trying very hard to convince Ian with the pranks. However, seeing Ian's footage and listening to what he thought at the moment, I guess it worked.

Edit: Also, Sam venting about his relationship and Ian offering relationship advice is fucking gold. I think Sam is definitely using Dani to sneak diss Ian about his wife.

idubbz knows weck from before that documentary. there could have already been bad blood between them for idubbz to ignore his censor appeal

The strangest thing about the entire idubbz video is his insistence on this overarching theme of "meta irony" and that sam "never lets people get the joke"

The idea that you need to know someone's genuine opinions about things in order to laugh at a joke is so retarded, especially coming from someone like idubbz.
What makes something funny is that it's funny, not that it fits coherently into some overarching worldview. Taking the "it's just a bunch of crap" clip from the tedX bit as the last piece of the outro perfectly highlights this- you didn't need to think anything about how Sam 'really' feels to laugh at the silly things he said, it was just a bunch of silly crap, it's why it was funny

So idubbz is disappointed that Sam is not like a modern celeb/entertainer with a personal presence and is "confused" as to why he'd choose to keep his private life and motivations private like a pre-internet classic entertainer. He's also disappointed that he wasn't allowed to be part of his friends' group.

And that's a "detriment" to Sam (as idubbz said), why? Does idubbz seriously believe that since MDE content is on a social platform that he as a fellow content creator deserves unfettered access to everything about him and the fans deserve it too?

E: I also feel like idubbz could have easily used all the shot content to make a mockumentary style video after the prank was revealed, or have it be some other type of project instead of just admitting defeat on his primary purpose nad making himself look like a chump
If that was why Sam avoided further meetings after the ruse was revealed, he should have just said so. Excuses like "I'm busy" or "my stomach hurts" are a bitch move and a half, assuming iDubbbz didn't make that part up.

Dunno if it's just the bubble he's created around himself over the years as far as the people he interacts with but seeing both sides of the documentary and mostly Ians side really shows he's so far out of touch.
It’s true but pretending he wasn’t a YouTube Niggerguy is cringe af “He doesn’t like the masks” Ian’s integrity has been consumed by Los Angeles
