I don’t see a problem with that. I believe people should have the right to choose. I got the vaccine, but it isn’t something I feel comfortable forcing other people to get. I really think more people would have gotten the vaccine if they didn’t feel like the government was coercing them. I’ve already said it in this thread, but it’s like a parent telling you to workout and do a specific sport/activity versus choosing to workout and deciding which activity appeals to you. People are usually more receptive to the latter.

Plenty of people throw tantrums about people who wear masks and get the vaccine, especially anti-vaxxers who think the vaccine is some kind of Nazi plot.

I don't hate people for getting the jab. Nor do most of the "antivaxxers" I know. In fact there's a very clear difference I've seen. Most people opposed to the clot shot will respond to someone who says they took it with a mix of pity, concern and sometimes a bit of "don't you feel dumb".
Its the crowd who pushes the mandates who rightfully gets the hate. As long as you're not a goose stepping medical fascist pushing for people to suffer on a existential level because they chose medical autonomy, even the most hardcore antivaxxer will probably just shrug you off.

Now try telling a provax Branch Covidian that you're against the mandate - don't even say anything against the jab itself, just against the mandate - and tell me how many times you get slapped with as much vitriol as if you'd just admitted to supporting the holocaust.

What I'm saying is its very much apples to oranges. The most rabid, frothing at the mouth MATI sadistic fucks tend to fall on one quadrant of the debate and it is almost exclusively on the " pro jab/pro mandate" square.

I don't know about you, but my job is forcing me to go unvaccinated.
Meanwhile the federal government and multiple state governments are currently trying to enact unvaccinated mandates, where only the unvaccinated can work or enter public buildings.
Pretty much all major news networks right now are shilling reasons NOT to get the vaccine and why we shouldn't put our lives on hold for boomer deathfats.

I still haven’t gotten the vaccine, not because I think it’s particularly bad but because I just don’t feel particularly compelled to get it either. I’m not very worried about the virus generally, though I still take reasonable precautions — N95s when I go into crowded areas, taking an at-home test whenever I get the sniffles, etc.. So far, I’m the only person in my extended family who hasn’t contracted the virus, not that I attribute that to my avoidance of the vaccine.

If all of this mandate bullshit hadn’t happened I almost certainly would’ve gotten the vaccine by now. I acknowledge that this might not be a rational position. On the topic of irrational positions, I also genuinely believe that when you fear something you make yourself vulnerable to it. Fear is the favored tool of the powerful; whenever the masses are afraid, you can be sure that some bullshit is about to go down.

I’m keeping a close eye on the patent-free vaccine being produced at Children’s in Texas. If it gets approved I’ll take it.

Both "sides" are fucking nuts but there aren't even really sides. They flip the fuck out. I'm actually more or less on board with the SCOTUS decision that mandates are justified when there is some very specific reason for them (like healthcare workers) but this virus, which I think is way worse than antivaxers seem to grasp, is still not so dangerous that just everyone should be forced to get the jab, although I am completely for strongly urging it.

If this were smallpox or Black Death tier, I'd say fuck them, strap them to a gurney and jab them while recording their screams.

But this isn't that.

Noone out of my job yet (though unironically the field I work in has had some facilities around the country pull shit like make vaccinated people take 30 days off work), but several have designated me not to be of "Pure Blood" anymore.

Though they do want my doctor tried for murder for reccomending me the vax.

However, in fairness, those people don’t wield any power right now. Even if they wanted to persecute people for being “mud bloods” they have no means of doing so. The thing that bothers me most about the COVID discourse right now is all of this make-believe certainty. When the pandemic started, suddenly every /pol/tard, plebbitor, etc. became an epidemiologist. People like to pretend as if they’re sure of things they can’t possibly be sure of. Since we are (at least partially) in the dark, the best we can do is make careful decisions based on the information available. I hope that makes sense

Conceptually it's no different from an influenza vaccine in that regard. Just like the COVID vaccine, they provide limited or no protection against infection but do prime the immune system to resist it more effectively.

The difference is influenza vaccines have been around for 80 years with a proven safety record, while the COVID vaccines were slapped together by highly unethical corporations with absolutely no recourse in the event you are killed or maimed.
