Probably. Ian is treating Sam like he's this great Jungian trickster god because he's in character while on camera. He has to have some learning disability to be this dumb lol.

His podcast with Nick is almost entirely them talking about their personal lives, telling stories, and giving (flawed) life advice. It's really not hard learning about how Sam lives his life, or what kind of person he is.

If he wanted to do a hit piece, he should've contacted one of Sam's (many) exes. If he wanted to have fun, he should've gone along with the gaslighting. Just completely retarded.

Ultimately though the fact that this "documentary" was a failure is entirely on idubbbz, not on Sam for not being cooperative after the gag was revealed. He said meta irony was mainly a shield from criticism and also a result of incompetence. This is just a retarded take.

It is definitely not a shield of criticism for someone capable of thought. Idubbbz even proves himself wrong by saying that statements made in the guise of irony aren’t immune to critique. MDE used meta irony to make the audience think. It was brilliant because it was funny and meaningful. You never knew quite what the point was but you knew something was wrong with any situation presented. It’s easy to interpret a message in the Kid Six sketch and harder to understand in the Cop killer / @HeyMoon sketch.

As discussed in the interview from Hyde’s version, when things had real meaning people went to extreme lengths to cancel the show and their comedy. This deterred MDE and broke the troupe. If Idubbbz made his docu about this, people wouldn’t be calling him a cuck rn but someone who explored where comedy went awry.
