Fuck al-Qurashi and fuck the Air Force's habit of blowing up Blackhawks for shits and giggles. Why don't we talk about the fact Psaki and Ron Klain literally stole the "cancer cabinet" idea from The West Wing?

Its a pie in the sky idea that sounds good to the public I suppose. Its much like the many, many times US presidents said we will go back to the Moon or even try to land on Mars. The fanciful plans brought forward by Bush, Clinton, George W. Bush, Obama and Trump were met with the financial reality of the scope of their space projects and as a result most if not all of them ultimately went nowhere.

Didn't @Gehenna basically say that this cabinet sees itself as a bunch of West Wing larpers, or did I imagine that?
People called that show "The Left Wing" for a reason. It's what they strive to recreate.

In case anyone wants to watch the show to anticipate what Biden will try next, they probably view themselves as being in the 5th season right now. The one where the president has to deal with foreign issues and a S.C. appointment.

Bic lighters are handy, too. Cheap, they work well enough most of the time, and even if you run out of fluid and don't have a resupply a friction striker is a friction striker. And for barter, cigs and coffee are mandatory. Someone jonesing for a fix of either will damn near give you their shirt off their back if you can get them what they need.
Yeah I always get lighters in packs of 5 and never have less than three floating around (another win for stoners! I swear it's why I didn't get the coof). The adjustable kind are shittier but you can always modify those to be a crack-lighter with a bigger flame. Zippos are nice because it's a light&set that doesn't require holding a button. They do require regular service though. Zippo fuel is also pretty much Naphtha and rich in Benzene (also one of the biggest containers you can get it in without winding up on a watchlist). I only have a casual understanding of energetics/O-chem but I understand both of those chemicals are very useful. Warning: it's also much "spicier" than garden variety lighter fluid. I learned that the hard way and paid with my eyebrows to learn it.

I feel bad for gas station cashiers and pharmacists near me if SHTF. My planned caffeine/nicotine consumption would probably be shocking to even an infantryman. I'll be tweaking on more amphetamines than WWII German shock troops. If I'm going to be forced to try and survive the wasteland, I intend to do so while I'm euphoric from stimulants and other drugs.

Is that a CNN article? Looks like it by the font, but I don’t want to accidentally give CNN clicks via attempts to verify, and it doesn’t show up on advanced search either.

If so, things must be much worse over there with the ratings/Zucker/overall situation than they’re revealing, if they’re begrudgingly calling the administration out like this. You can tell that the quote beginning with “but the moment also felt…” is an extra and something that they’d definitely omit if things were even slightly better with the Brandon administration. So now, they’re reduced to printing things that they wish they weren’t to try and suck the cocks of those who’ve long abandoned them and consider their credibility to be less than zero in an attempt to salvage said negative credibility. Fucking pathetic and embarrassing.

Not a good day for journos today as the administration lashes out on them.

The State Department's spokesman, Ned Price just wrapped up a press conference. For some reason I can't find the fucking clips but he got into an argument with a reporter. The reporter asked him to show actual proof that Russia is about to perform a false flag and Price responded as follows: "If you doubt the credibility of the U.S. government, of the British government, of other governments and want to, you know, find solace in information that the Russians are putting out, that is for you to do."

Psaki herself behaved in the same way when she was asked if there was evidence al-Qurashi blew himself up. She proceeded to do what any other white woman in her position would do and made a snarky comment.

So that's the current White House strategy I suppose. If anyone asks you for proof for a claim you make, suggest that they're Russian/ISIS shills and talk down to them for being outrageous enough to question the narrative.

Yep, all the White House politicians and officials yell at everybody and say they support a boogeyman when the administration is tanking. That's how it has always been but the Biden Administration is taking it to 11. They're already dusting off the blasts from the past about people being objectively pro-terrorism and objectively pro-boogeyman. This feels like the last gasps of the second terms of the GWB and Obama administrations but its barely even 1 year into the Biden administration. The whole thing has had the vibe of a lame duck administration melting down for months now.

Psaki seems especially totally not chill in 2022. I guess she didn't take her own advice and go to kickboxing classes and have some margaritas?

Don't you trust the government, fellow...patriots?

And they couldn't do that to any of the war material left behind in Afghanistan.

Eh, probably just my conspiracy theory brain working.

We didn't leave anything remotely valuable enough in Afghanistan that destroying it would have justified the optics/risks of speeding up the takeover by disarming opposition to the Taliban.

It's been almost a decade since Bin Laden was taken out and I'd assume by now any special operation conducted via helicopter is going to involve some classified tech, most likely navigational aids that allows safe(er) travel at extremely low altitudes which explains the seemingly higher risk of mechanical failures. And even if there was nothing unusual about the aircraft itself there were probably documents on-board that would be best kept out of enemy hands, like for example information to identify a person of interest they expected might be there but wasn't and want to keep that person guessing as to what we know about Him.

Too bad Biden already slammed the door on appointing Glenn Close.

Snippet:

If you watched carefully last week, you saw videos of Taliban soldiers walking around with some of those 978,000 American M4 and M16 rifles, as well as M24 sniper rifle systems, and M2 .50 caliber machine guns. Some had night-vision goggles, radios, and magazine pouches hanging from their bodies while others tooled around Kabul in American Humvees and MRAPs.

According to a Government Accountability Office report, between 2003 and 2017 the United States transferred 75,898 vehicles, 162,643 pieces of communications equipment, 208 aircraft, and 16,191 pieces of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance equipment to Afghan forces.

But that’s not all. Between 2017 to 2019, the United States also gave Afghan forces 7,035 machine guns, 4,702 Humvees, 20,040 hand grenades, 2,520 bombs, and 1,394 grenade launchers, among other equipment, according to a report last year from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR).”

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said last week that the equipment is lost to the Taliban, “and obviously, we don’t have a sense that they are going to readily hand it over to us at the airport.”

“We don’t have a complete picture, obviously, of where every article of defense materials has gone, but certainly a fair amount of it has fallen into the hands of the Taliban,” he added.

The Pentagon’s response to all of this: “We are always worried about U.S. equipment that could fall into an adversaries’ hands,” Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said. “What actions we might take to prevent that or to forestall it, I just simply won’t speculate about today.”

Clearly, no action was taken. None at all. Zip, Zilch.

Last week Maj. Gen. Hank Taylor of the Joint Chiefs staff was asked if U.S. troops on the ground were taking any action to “to prevent equipment from falling into the hands of the Taliban by destroying it.”

His bleak response: “I don’t have the answer to that question.”

REEEEEEEEE!

Jesus fucking Christ.

You actually expect me to believe that fucking line? That horse shit?

You know what, it's that kind of shit thinking that turned what should have been a fucking gutter stomp in a 20 year quagmire.

The whole upper chain of command was too goddamn inept to even have some mouth breathing line slime retard roll a fucking grenade into the cab of a truck.

"Muh Optics!"

Yeah, they can just put the optics right up there with The 'Nam. The final days of both wars have the same fucking optics.

The USA is definitely getting none of that equipment back. I would like to think the administration simply did not believe the Afghan government would collapse as fast as it did and that is why so much gear was left behind. If you want to be optimistic the Taliban will possibly sell off a lot of the weapons they captured. As for the more advanced stuff it will all have to break down at one point.

For the sake of comparison with the equipment lost in the Vietnam withdrawal (which Afghanistan is often compared with) here is a breakdown on what was basically given over to the enemy in those conflicts:

The amount of taxpayer money lost in both of these wars in terms of military hardware is catastrophic but this is what happens when you exit wars in such a messy way I guess.

It has been their tactic for a while now because they have so many of their followers programmed to shut their brains off and stop asking questions as soon as that is said. For over a decade the American people have been in a new Red Scare mode and the Left has capitalized on it to paint anyone who doubts them as a Russian bot/troll/shill etc. It's the same way they use Trump's name like some shit from Harry Potter where the mere utterance of his name sways people to whatever shit they're saying.

The scary thing for them, what I imagine is actually keeping them awake at night, is that the programming is wearing off. Only the most rabidly devout of the system still fall for such rudimentary pavlovian conditioning. In psychological terms, the conditioned response has become extinct, because they beat the drum too loudly and too much without any corresponding real event. With dogs they will stop salivating at a bell if you keep ringing the bell but don't give them food. In this case people have finally started to notice that most of their five alarm screeching about Trump/Muh Russia/etc hasn't actually been paired with a real threat, just screeching.

If that effect continues and if they're not able to supply a new conditioned response I am concerned they will lash out in fear and anger. So much of their entire system of governance depends upon their ability to cause people to stop thinking critically by scaring them with buzzwords. Once words fail, what will they turn to in order to inspire fear?

Nice reading comprehension there buddy, you've totally crushed my defense of the brave pedophiles defending Afghanistan against the Taliban and our infallible leaders who made the decision to befriend them rather massacring most of the native population or just not going there at all.

Your probably right about the equipment we left behind, expending munitions on all those mid-20th century APC's and Blackhawks we mothballed in the 80's manned by the ANA would have totally made the pull out less of a clusterfuck than it already was, and the US wouldn't have had to live with the knowledge of a terrorist organization having access to such potent weapons for a brief time until they're scrapped and sold for food.
