As I said it was a hypothetical, and one I had before the whole Barb Molestation thing.
Before the Barb thing Chris was going to con's and getting some weird edge form of mainstream acceptance, finally making money from his infamy he had people seeking him out at cons, people commissioning artwork from him to use on album art, people writing books about him that where serious in nature, etc.
He was the internet's shared pet autist who got some weird twisted fame and was hitting all the right notes for some groups to try and glom onto him and I could see him getting invited to a party room and then being forgotten about after a while and then my situation or some variation of it happening, or even just getting handsy with people more than he already has been noted to be with people at cons.
Most people know Chris as weird internet funny man, not as much detail as even a passing Kiwi, or ED user would have, and on the surface a "transexual, autistic, comic artist who's been bullied by the internet for years" is a very sympathetic story, and is more than enough to garner him attention in some circles even if it's just to look good.
I encountered a Troon IRL with similar "conditions".
"She" initially garnered sympathy from people within a Facebook group. But soon, as rumors and stories filtered in from other LGBTQ members who knew her in other groups, it became clear that their life was not as put upon as their account would have.
Being an oddly sympathetic fellow, I took pity and gave "Her" the benefit of the doubt. Close-knit communities like LGBTQ can be very political and drama-filled, so I wondered if "She" had just crossed the wrong person in said group. Due to "Her" needing a job and at the time I knew a number of bar owners who were always looking for staff, I arranged to meet "her" so that I could at least recommend her.
"She" spent the whole night explaining why her current employer was unsuitable and "Transphobic".
Apparently being unqualified and lying about having the skills to mix industrial paint and related chemicals is irrelevant once they have employed you, it should be their responsibility and they totally would have given "her" the correct training if she were not trans and a trans lesbian.
Also telling her not to add an extra hour to her timesheet every time they sent an SMS is also "transphobic".
"She" claimed to have a whole bunch of really close friends, who were always in the bar we were going to. None of these friends were there that night, the only one she was able to call was out of town and had been for a while but not told "her". The only "really close friend" there was some guy who "she" had only spoken to on the internet a few days before and seemed to respond better to me for basic conversation.
There were some claims about "her" being able to learn algebra and complicated maths in an afternoon but had also dropped out of university due to "Transphobia" in a theatre studies degree.
It was all a bunch of explanations about how "she" is a super-genius but thanks to the intolerant nature of well-known anti trans and homophobic places like London, Sweden, and prejudiced policies from companies set up to humiliate people like "her", she could never get ahead.
When I suggested that she might listen to other people and not assume everyone is homophobic and anti trans, she said that I set off a "Red Flag".
Later on, I found out she frequently e begged strangers from the groups for money to pay for keeping "her" stink ditch open, and the "Homophobic" Lesbians and other "Anti trans" Trans individuals in the local scene had all distanced themselves from "her" due to the general behavior of conning people out of money, causing nightmares for housemates, harrassing "ex girlfriends" who were never girlfriends in the first place.
So naturally, I decided not to recommend "Her" for Bar Jobs.
Later on, she blocked me when I jokingly asked through messenger at the start of the pandemic if "she" was safely locked away from society.
TLDR: People who are creepy, with a victim mentality, and seek to blame all others for their problems are soon seen through and excluded. Chris will end up like this no matter what!
