Yeah. Part of responsible pet ownership is having the resources and gear to evacuate them from your home in a hurry if it becomes dangerous for them to stay. For a few cats that just means having a few carriers and keeping your car clean enough to hold them if you have to leave in a hurry. For more exotic animals, well, that's shit you'd better think about before you bring Captain Chomps -- your new pet alligator -- home from the farm where you got him.

If you can't be reasonably prepared for that because it's too expensive, takes too much space or (god forbid) is too inconvenient, leave the animal at the store/shelter/farm so someone better suited to care for it can do so.

That's just not true. The problem is 99% of people who come with unpopular opinions are here specifically to start shit. I went into the abortion thread and was able to have a mostly civil discussion where I argued for abortion rights. I still post with those people regularly and there is no drama. Hell the biggest assholes in the abortion thread where the other people arguing pro choice. A lot of them are just straight assholes and have no intention of being civil.

They weren't expecting $10 million and I doubt this will shake the resolve of any but the most craven amongst them. In any case, this shit has snowballed now, the farmers are getting into it, it's going to be hard to starve them out.

Pretty much this, the time to smother this in the cradle is long gone, the past week has thrown a lot of blood in the water which few have missed the implications of. When you have cops refusing to remove protestors, provincial governments moving their restriction lifting timelines forward from months to veritable days, and a federal government rejecting any harsh crackdown measures, you've basically allowed those involved to dig in their heels and keep going and encourage others to get involved.

Should this weekend prove as large and disruptive as suggested it's only going to get worse for Trudeau and company next week because many business groups are going to start demanding compromise to keep their revenue streams flowing. The truckers have Canada by the balls (at least what's left of them), they simply need to squeeze.
