Canadian Truckers Convoy 2022 - The Leaf calls you a Nazi as he gasses you

On a wider scale, it's always amusing to see the Californians show up in my neck of the woods and be absolutely gobsmacked that they can't find a boutique store that sells computer equipment or organic food or just cheesecake or what have you. "What do you MEAN it takes 3 days for Amazon Prime to deliver? I pay for next day shipping!" That sorta deal.
I’m surprised you’ve had that reaction. Every urban bugman I know orders literally every physical thing from Amazon and orders their food from Uber Eats/Doordash. This is despite them living in a so-called walkable community and constantly calling for Bezos’ head.

It was so close to turning into the South Park buddy/guy/friend joke.

Go Fund Me bent the knee after realizing the boomers were going to mass charge back. Funds will be automatically refunded

A very expensive little exercise for whichever upper management schmuck came up with the idea to hold on to the money for a bit longer so it couldn't be donated through another platform.
First smart thing they've done since they first involved themselves in political sperging that didn't involve them.

Somebody at GFM headquarters must have remembered they have a legal department that should have been consulted before this political grandstanding began, and said legal department replied "wtf are you dumbasses doing? Refund all that money before we get a million fucking chargebacks and a thousand arbitration notices!"

I know, right? I don’t do it out of principal or anything (more just a genuine preference on my part) but I’ll only buy shit on Amazon that I cannot find locally and prefer sitting in at restaurants.

"Today I told my dad that I've not been so worried about national security in over 20 years". Really, faggot? Honking truck horns make you feel the way you did while the World Trade Center was still smoldering and all of the bodies hadn't yet been recovered. Wow.
I do not think she is necessarily wrong. Tensions are high. For the most part, protesters are being very disciplined and peaceful, and Canadian authorities seem to be operating with an abundance of caution, but it is not inconceivable for this to escalate into something much more serious. All it takes is one miscommunication, or moment of confusion, for something to turn into a flashpoint.

See: the Boston Massacre as a flashpoint for the Revolutionary War, Bloody Sunday as a flashpoint for the 1905 Russian Revolution (before the Bolshevik one), or many other examples through history. With tensions ratcheted up, sometimes all it takes is one junior officer making a rash decision, or even a single soldier with an itchy trigger finger, for things to start spiraling out of control.

Can't get Doordash from Cheesecake Factory if there isn't a Cheesecake Factory in the area.

Spoiler alert: They're still going to get a million chargebacks, if anyone on the right is paying attention, and a thousand arbitration notices. A two week delay on a refund is plenty of justification for a chargeback, and in this instance a chargeback actively harms GoFundMe, who has outed themselves as an enemy. And this little stunt they pulled is interference with a tort, or at least I'm sure some lawyer could make that claim.

I wonder if GoFundMe has the Patreon flaw in their EULA that says their users MUST go into arbitration before going to court? Someone (Owen somethingorother?) used that against Patreon by having each and every one of his supporters file for arbitration. $250 to file, but Paypal had to put up $10k or something stupid.

The flaw with Patreon is they required arbitration under the California Arbitration Act which requires a corporation pay the cost of arbitration in consumer disputes. GFM was smart enough to at least require using the Federal Arbitration Act.

It could still have been potentially ruinous though as I am sure there were enough people willing to make the filing fee to stack up GFMs legal expenses really fast. These arbitration clauses are not automatic Trump cards. Companies put them in because they assume most individuals won't go through the hassle and expense of filing an individual claim. The other edge of the sword though is if enough of them DO file, the individuals only have to pay for their case while the company has to pay for every single one it gets dragged into.

Even at the standard corporate lawyer rate of 700 bucks an hour, assuming 5 hours of work on each arbitration (initially), that is 3,500 dollars. Now do that 10,000 more times. Just to START the process. After that you have to pay to take depositions, pay for the arbitrators time, etc etc etc

I'm trying to imagine the logic they were using initially. Like they figure everyone donating is wanting to donate to something charitable, so if the one charity doesn't work they won't mind if it goes to a 'generally' nice charity like BLM or whatever?

Wouldn't be surprised if the only reason they realized this was going to blow up in their faces is because it popped up on Tucker's show with him framing it as GFM outright stealing the money from people (which it was).

I'm not defending GFM here, I think they're unethical for funding a lot of tranny surgeries, but I suspect the delay might be because of the large amount of donations and donors they have to refund to.
There's a ring of truth to this. Even if GFM machine-guns the backend APIs to issue refunds as rapidly as possible, all banks deliberately make it as slow and inconvenient as possible to move money out of them. Even when you pay them to expedite things, they still drag their feet as much as possible. So yeah, they're probably speaking from experience when they say it's really going to take two weeks for people to get their money back.

Convoys supposedly happening in the UK. They've also got a list of sites for convoys all over the world.
Yeah I dunno how much noticeable effect they'll have trying to disrupt traffic in the UK:

Btw GoFuckMe declaring full refund to all donators does not mean you can't still hit them with a chargeback

If you donated and haven't contacted your credit card company/bank to contest, go ahead and do so. The process will still start, GoFuckMe will still get hit with the charge, it'll still be a big clusterfuck requiring much time and money for them to straighten out

The Farmers here told the media and cops they were meeting at a specific place to congregate for the convoy later today. So the cops set up there this morning. I just heard the OPP say on the scanner that nobody showed up.

Either the farmers have hoodwinked them, or they cancelled. I'd be surprised if they don't do the protest at all, since they have been politically active here for the last two years. I'm just getting ready to head out to watch them roll through the town. . I'f I can get photos without self-doxing, I will post them. I'll let everyone know how it shakes out

They realized this would blow up in their face when multiple US states started criminal investigations for theft and fraud. That, along with the chargebacks, is why they are scrambling now.

I honestly don't understand why they went through GoFundMe in the first place.

This isn't' the first time they've shown extreme bias.
Because no one has ever heard of anything other than GoFundMe and one of the major benefits of the left controlling the media is no one ever hears about GoFundMe fucking people over like this until it becomes so obvious even Tucker Carlson covers it.

If nothing else, they'll have to connect every chargeback to a refund and make sure they're not refunding someone $5000 that they got back in Chargebacks.

It's a logistics nightmare.

Idk about Canada but in the states, they swapped out history for "social studies" in the 80s, which is basically the wedge that opened the door to today's globalhomo buildbackbetter criticalracetheory curricula. It was more important to indoctrinate kids about how all cultures and ideas are valid and equal, rather than providing a frame of reference for society to avoid past mistakes, and to inspire kids for a better tomorrow.
My social studies courses were only in middle school and were essentially just history. I even had one teacher who outright told the class that the Confederacy had legitimate grievances leading up to the civil war. This was like 2010, though.
