General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

It's honestly kinda sad that Selen can't ever seem to prove herself in the one thing everyone memes she does.
Yeah. I don't think she cared much about this one because the entire structure of this cup was really fucking weird and not tournament-like at all.

Rather than have a multi-match leaderboard that judges performance based on placement and the amount of kills your team got, the premise was that there was a ¥200,000 bounty on RIG teams. If a non-RIG team won, they got the money, if RIG won, they kept it. There was no real reason to aim for any more than best positioning because you weren't rewarded for anything that wasn't 1st Place. Very weird and not at all interesting.

Yeah this piss me off to no end, as long as cover is so hellbent in forbid them to be with theirs sisters then they are going to be treated as the lesser branch of HL.
StarsEN will be different, though *inhales*. Believe in the process *inhales*. We have a shortlist of HoloEN members who would be interested in collabs with men on hand. ID is different and that's why the rules don't apply to them *inhales*.

There are three things certain in life -- death, taxes, and Atlus being too out of touch to understand streaming. It sucks, since I wanna see someone do the Trauma Center (+ Team) series, but they'll probably never give out perms for that since it's dead.
The closest we've gotten is some NijiJP streamed Catherine: Full Body and some NijiID streamed Persona 4 Golden. I'm not sure on either occasion Atlus permitted them to stream the ending, which is a particular problem for P4G which jebaits so many 'endings' that no one could agree on where the ending was to help the streamer know when to stop.

(Mainland) China is increasingly hostile against foreign entertainment, the sooner companies moved out of that place the better the industries will be. Hell, even the House of Rats can't release FOUR new MCU movies after the pandemic began. If even Disney are beginning to be blocked from China, what can small companies like VTubers can do?

(Interestingly, most of those MCU movies still made bank even without China, thereby demonstrating why conpanies don't really need China provided they did the right things)

That said, China (both Mainland and Taiwan) are also responsible for the rise of VTubers. Holo won't be as big as right now if not for the chinese having a fanbase for them pre-EN. But we are shown again how doing business in Mainland China a double-edged sword with the Judas of Holo. And that blade is increasingly getting hostile more and more...

I can see how the NijiEN men have their audience showing up in the girls sub count because some of the banter between the two sides really is top tier. Reimu and Vox is up there with Conor and Iron Mouse but Reimu seems like she will actually burn down everything if malding enough. Pomu and Luca dumb lucked into this weird coincidence of stories making them sitcom rivals.
This is what I was thinking when I've been been advocating for Holo Penis-havers, I probably wouldn't watch their solo streams too much but the potential for M and F banter in collabs is off the charts and the dynamic would hit different. The same ol thirsty Hololive lesbian roleplay is getting a bit old. You can see the potential with the Ollie + Bae + Astel +Winning Son Apex collabs being absolute gold.. it makes the game bearable to watch. Different sexes just tease and banter in different ways.

NijiEN has cracked the door open with their guys but they're all kinda samey twink guys. That is still my major issue with Niji, a lot of their talents seem interchangeable and I sometimes have trouble telling their voices apart in collabs.

We'll see if Niji continues to creep up on Hololive, the latter got lucky with the pandemic + clippers + the Youtube algorithm + hitting big on HoloEN1. EN2 isn't quite on the same level imo and management is being annoyingly conservative in restricting collabs between branches and other agencies, and keeping Holostars separate.

I'm still waiting which direction they're going with the new Stars gen. This would be the first Stars gen post-EN right? Again, I'm betting on Cover's Recruitment Magic doing their things again. HoloX showed that they still got it

Some NijiEN numberfagging tidbits from Socialblade:

• All members have been inclining rapidly since Luxiem debuted.
• The girls are gaining about 1K subs a day, the boys an average of 3.5K a day.
• Nina is the woman inclining the hardest overall, with an average of 1.4K subs a day, which is comparable to Mumei and more than Kronii, for reference.
• Petra has randomly just fucking took off over the last few months and is the person inclining the hardest relative to previous performance.

Looks like they've found themselves in something of a purple patch.

Like i discussed on my discord, the thing that they have a absolutely high demand (check the tweet of the announcement of the new gen) and the big ass elephant in the room that cover like to pretend is not there, Luxiem BTFO all stars in less than 3 months is something that has to make them clear that just having them as GPB is just not going to cut it anymore if they are expecting them to grow and is also ainsult to them because they have to live with the branchs cover doesnt care (ID), EN got mainline now with the exception of Calli that i can tell you she will be the first to be messing around with Stars EN, JP girls will also refuse because muh gachikois

From the data and discussion here and there, I think StarsEN still have a chance. Luxiem is pretty much a success, but those numbers are carried by Asian audience, particularly Japanese for some cases, not to mention the gender demographic. So there's still a potential for StarsEN targeting the EOP audience, especially the male ones

I used to watched some JP male VAs translated clips and I think if StarsEN can get some dude with charisma like Sugibro and Nakamura, then they will be golden. Bonus if they are also bilingual and the banter between character personalities like that and the uptight type like Kronii (who’s ironically really like HanaKana) will be gold mine of content.

StarsEN only need to get some bro personalities (no troon or fujo bait) on caliber of Sugibro, Nakamura or heck give us an EN version of Tsugux2 and Nobu and somehow get an EN Kayanon, and Yuuki Aoi for EN3 and HoloEN project will get the much booster needed to go to the moon.

If they let them to hang around normally with their sisters, i can see it happening but repeating the same mistake of Stars JP will get the same results, they will get relegated to GPB to hang around with ID while not getting number

Am I a retard for not knowing what I'm looking at.

It's a surprisingly layered discussion. So much so that I'm not sure where to start. I think that StarsEN will enjoy a great deal of initial attention, but HoloPro attention is so frontloaded that their ability to retain that momentum will be unbelievably difficult if they are separated from the girls.

If Ollie's right in that there are still literal 'rules' in place to keep the productions apart, then StarsEN would come in and realise that their best shot at networking is with the same conglomerate of EN V-Tubers beyond the walled garden they've been set up to try and compete with. I, for one, welcome StarsEN into the fold as NijiEN-lite.

I'm fairly sure both were because they were the most recently released in their series, like how Activision does it with perms IIRC? Hana from ID and Noor from IN streamed P4G on June 25th, roughly two weeks after it came out on Steam, while the Niji streams were 2019-2020, roughly same year as Full Body. Fairly sure that in all cases, they weren't allowed to have SCs, and they were banned from showing "the ending", which I think may have meant the last chapter(s)?

I honestly wouldn't say StarsEN are a lost cause, they definitely have a chance to not only do well, but do even better. Granted, if they're treated like they have cooties then they'll fail. Bear in mind that the EN management seems to be doing different tactics than JP (ex. HoloEN not being very open to cross-company collabs, possibly but not necessarily including the multiple mysterious HoloEN/NijiEN collab shutdowns, as opposed to HoloJP/NijiJP and such being open game), so them treating StarsEN with respect is absolutely not out of the question. Considering that the West isn't quite as apeshit about their idol culture, this has an even better likelihood.

Am I a retard for not knowing what I'm looking at.
Protip, look at the filename for a clue.

Luxiem brought in a lot of female fans, and Petra is arguably the female liver who is most similar to many of those fans in terms of tastes and preferences. Elira and Petra have the highest female viewership of any of the female NijiENs, and Petra's open like of otome games, pretty boys, etc makes her relatable for that audience. Anecdotally I saw Shu fans become fans of Petra when she talked about learning Japanese to read otome games during her collab with Shu. Some girls also are turned off by female vtubers who come off as excessively pandering to guys, just like a lot of guys here don't like male vtubers who seem to pander to chicks, and Petra doesn't really do that.

NijiEN has cracked the door open with their guys but they're all kinda samey twink guys. That is still my major issue with Niji, a lot of their talents seem interchangeable and I sometimes have trouble telling their voices apart in collabs.
I think that's more of a matter of personal exposure than anything else. Personally I find that criticism hard to understand, since 2/5ths of Luxiem has British accents (and another has an Australian one) and looking at the girls you have very distinctive voices like Nina and Rosemi. On the other hand, I'd struggle to tell HoloENs apart from each other by voice except for Calli and Gura. But that's probably just because I've watched more Calli and Gura so they sound distinctive in my mind.

If you can't tell the difference between Kiara, Mumei, and Sana, then you need your head examined.

I don't really care too much about StarsEN tbh, i don't see why everyone makes such a big deal out of it, like Holo needs to be exactly the same as Niji to even compete and whatever one does the other needs to desperately catch up or die.
Same with collabing with other agencies or indies.

It looks to me as if the sucess of Nijimales was mainly based on appealing to a fanbase they already held, not the western one which they were aiming for, most western EOPs and normies don't even know NijiEN or Niji as a whole even exists to this day.

I'm ambivalent about StarsEN (i.e. i really dont care about their expistence) but you all are not mentioning the fact that Cover is after money and the biggest cashcow are the most idol-like chubas. It's sad for holostars that are already cucked by those rules but the rules are in place because of money so they'll probably keep cucking new penis havers.
