Even then, the Aboriginals of Canada walked over an ice bridge from Asia. Our Inuit look just like native Mongolians. They didn't just pop out of the dirt like they claim. Yeah, they got here first, but they conquered and slaughtered neighbouring tribes just like the Kings of Europe. Only when Europe came knocking, they were woefully outmatched - a story you hear countless times in other civilizations. Only this one demands to be seen as oppressed despite the amount of money they're given and groveling from politicians.

I don't even hate Aboriginals. I'm glad some are joining in the protest and recognizing this is a time to join hands with fellow Canadians to give the finger to tyranny. But when you live near a Reserve that constantly steals shit from your neighbours, screams 'fuck you whitey!' to everyone while holding out their hands for more kickbacks because their Chief stole it all, then lights themselves on fire and cries for help every spring... You tend to lose all sympathy for the Reservites. There's only so many times they can cry about Residential Schools and oppression while giving the finger that you can take.

Bless those protesting, but let's not give all Canadian 'natives' the Noble Savage treatment. They can be just as environmentally destructive as the rest of us (sometimes even more so), and as greedy and prone to victim crying as your average tumblr user.

Details are trickling out, it says a 42-year-old Headingley man in the first article, but his name is not out yet, at least to my knowledge. Seems to be a mixed bag for the SUV thing. Interesting that the first article below attributes the terrorist act to a man, whereas the second one says a vehicle did it.


It's funny to imagine them using that kind of phrasing for anything else

I mean pre 1900 it wasn't uncommon for a disease to wipe through a town and kill dozens even hundreds to thousands of people depending on the size.

The old west is littered with countless tales of cholera or scarlet fever outbreaks that wipe out like 10% of the town.

I think a sane honest rational political leader would have said well pre1900 alot of disease used to run rampant because we didn't have proper vaccination nor sanitation like we do now. He would have ended the outrage machine by saying it's a sad face but we're moving forward.

As for native land most of the natives in Canada are American natives chased out by the white and black man in America.

Differences in intent.

Gaul was initially conquered for glory's sake, and all the other standard Roman reasons for conquest, but as time went on the Romans introduced their culture, technology, civilization etc. to Gaul and they slowly began to absorb the Gauls into their society. I hesitate to say that they were culturally assimilated because despite being an empire the influence of central government was not very strong outside of Rome, Italy and big cities. The Gauls mostly synthesized their culture with Roman culture rather than outright losing their original culture altogether.

The British Empire, meanwhile, colonized for explicitly economic reasons. They were not interested in improving life for their colonial subjects and were not interested in intergrating them into British culture either. They preferred that all the colonials act as the cheap labor so that actual British people could do more interesting things.

1st generation warfare ie riots and riot police. Ancient times,
2nd generation warfare - think trench warfare Napoleonic wars,
3rd generation - lines are not static positions but constantly moving with vehicles. WW2/Spanish civil war
4th generation - guerilla warfare IEDs, assinations, and terrorist attacks l.
Years of lead, the troubles

5th generation - disrupting supply lines, stochastic terrorism, warfare is in cyberspace and propaganda zones.
Information warfare.
Iran vs Saudi Arabia proxy war.
