EDIT: The Red Ensign is such a kino flag and is more representative of the various regions of Canada (as far as Canada is concerned, the iconic sugar maple is a species that is native, primarily, to southern Ontario, Quebec and parts of the maritime provinces and that's it). Animals work much better on State Seals and Insignia rather then national flags. Maybe put the goose in its rampant form, with neck extended. Kinda like how the US post office positions the Bald Eagle.

National Birds as symbols need to convey their natural form, while at the same time their intent. Usually in a position of power. This position of the Canada Goose seems too much like the Holy Roman Empire (and imitators) that needed to fit a bunch of symbols on the birds wings to try and get unity.



As a unifying symbol, the bird should be universally recognizable, and be something to immediately invoke a sense of pride. So, present the goose in its natural attack form. Honestly, the "Please Leave Me Alone" flag perfectly captures this form. Incorporate that. But don't put it on the flag.

Not all civil wars are the same.

I'll give you some major significant civil wars that are very distinct from each other.

Low intensity would be the troubles or Mexico (Mexico is in a technical civil war. But since these are narco terrorists mainly killing each other and
since it's political system has had major reforms.)

This type of war could go on for centuries and life would basically go back to normal even. It would be tit for tat terrorism that will either enter into criminal enterprise like the extreme factions of the IRA and Provo's.
This would be the loyaists vs the nationalists or nationalists vs the globalits

The War In Ukraine is a great example where most of the country functions as normal, And one to two parts are a literal warzone and everywhere else is Peaceful.
Basically maybe Alberta and or Canada become warzones where republican assets and American trucking firms finance independence movements in Canada. They would engage in medium intensity conflict ie shelling, artillery, light small arms attacks on their respective positions. Civilians would for the most part be evacuated Except for the really poor and stubborn.

Then we can think of the Mexican revolution which was a series of bloody ie multiple civil wars.
To think of this you have multiple fires go on at once.

Basically this would be one or multiple providences as warzones but via different reasons. Perhaps the great north forms a native/white ethnostate, Alberta independence, anti vax vs pro vax terrorism in Toronto, and The Chinese are sending more men into British Columbia to protect their investments from rebels.

Then you have the Spanish civil war which had been tanks and bombs vs poorly armed and trained but motivated rebels.
Let's say the Canadian leftist government gets flawed foreign backing while the truckers at worst are formed into shock brigades and at best turned into a professional army and they bomb and destroy the globalist strong hold. This can also work the other way around too.

Lastly there is the Yugoslav civil war.
