I don't think they thought this fuel thing through. It is only going to encourage stockpiling and rationing. Not to mention all of the smuggling that is going to start. It won't end this protest.

It is also going to undermine their authority and drive a wedge between the cops and the people. A relationship that has been largely positive to this point.

If this keeps going for a while, you will see jurisdictional pettiness start to flare up. The RCMP is basically there to baby sit the OPP and OPS grunts. If the truckers hold tight, I can see that causing some issues. And maybe we will see a few tanks of diesel slip through here and there.

The question is whether the police have the resources to man it all and enforce their no-fuel blockade.

Did a quick bit of investigating into the Manitoba vehicular attack on the anti-lockdown protestors, and found something interesting.

On Sunday, police said David Alexander Zegarac is facing multiple charges including:

• four counts of assault with a weapon;
• two counts of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm;
• two counts of failure to stop after an accident knowing that reckless cause of bodily harm;
• two counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident; and
• one count of dangerous operation of a conveyance.

So who is David Zegarac? Well, it turns out he used to have a Wikipedia page, before someone deleted in on January 30. The name, age, and location match up, so it certainly looks like a probable match.

His song lyrics deal primarily with anarchist politics.[4] Zegarac is an outspoken vegan and long time Anti-racism activist.

He posts under Aboriginal Musicians and is of Sioux, Cree and Irish background.

So an "anti-racist activist" plows through a crowd of right-wing chuds and the police don't think it was ideologically motivated? Fucking seriously?

The timing of the deletion is weird, but it doesn't really look like a coverup attempt given that the article was deleted a week before the event, and queued up for potential deletion a week before that.

Seems the only protest that can happen is where there’s lectures and speeches made to make people feel like shit. After two years, I wonder if this convoy thing is keeping people out of dark places that come with getting stuck in your own mind.
