Things are so jammed up downtown they couldn't leave if they wanted to. Not to mention that the city would have to move the barriers and vehicles they have containing things.

Perhaps they are looking to clear out some corner of the protest but the center is a major task that would need absolutely massive resources to clear.

Ok, then you tell me why the daycare at the local PD HQ is right beside the only door the public can drive up to, when as a matter of convenience it would be adjacent to the secure parking lot the cops park in.

Why at city hall is the daycare again right beside the door accessible to the public and nowhere near the elevator that exits the underground parking garage the employees use.

These things are in those specific spots so when some lashes out at government the kids get fragged and the public will have zero sympathy for whoever did it.

"I don't care what happened, they shouldn't have hurt those kids!"

Putting the kiddos directly in the diring line also discourages people from violence. Most people upset enough to minecraft civil servants aren't upset enough to kill kids, too.
