YouTubers you hate that everyone else likes

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Wouldn't say I hate him but I've gone off cr1tikal's content over the past year or so. He does a lot more crappy """influencer""" shit nowadays like challenges and stunts, that or shilling his music. Plus the month or two where it was just non-stop Among Us content was an absolute low point, and makes me raise an eyebrow when he sneers abut dead games like he wasn't responsible for helping drive it into the ground.

I don't hate him though since he seems to have his head screwed on more than most Youtubers.

You can tell he gets off at the sound of his own voice, and maybe he's already did this but it feels like he's inevitably going to shoehorn politics or some other dumb shit in his videos, he gives me that vibe, but it might just be me.
Ew really? And here I thought he was just a trend-chasing Simon Whistler clone (you know, that bald guy with the glasses from all those biographic, geographic, "neat" little fact channels)

Speaking of Simon Whistler, holy crap, I'm fucking sick of seeing his face all plastered over Youtube just because I watch a few documentaries.

He also reminded me of why I have a hard time liking true crime YouTubers. Sorry but I don't wanna listen to some faggot talk about meme culture or whatever over a story about some guy who killed 20 people.

Also, his Biographics channel has some piss poor editing, which he never bothered to fix.

This video is a prime example of that. The audio just cuts out randomly.

Simon is almost more painful than Hank Green, it truly is painfully impressive how many wiki reading channels he's made just in the past couple years.

I kid you fucking not. He has 11 channels. I was spastic enough to count them and I hate it. The differences between them are so niche, no normal person would create side-channel after side-channel for such specific purposes when they could easily have shared the same channel or had little reason to exist.

Sideprojects and Megaprojects are just the same fucking except the former is dedicated to great achievements but not too great. Could have been one channel

Biographics and Geographics could have been one channel.

Brain Blaze and Today I Found Out could have been one channel.

TopTenz (ugh) could have been assimilated into the two above.

xplrd (what sped named this channel?) could have been assimilated into the Geographics

Highlight History is another fucking history channel of his.

The Casual Criminalist is garbage.

Oh and the 11th channel is a vlog channel because of course it is.

Edit: Nothing is posted on the 11th channel, except whatever the hell this is. If anything it serves as a gateway to his other crap and Casey Neistat for some reason.

The Completionist - I’ve got nothing really against him personally, but god damn he’s such a shill for Nintendo. You will never get an honest review of a Nintendo product from him, each one is the same “OMG!!! BEST THANG EBBER!!! ALL HAIL NINTENDO!!!” autism. Yawn. I got more honesty from my Nintendo Power magazines as a kid

SomeCallMeJohnny - he was ok, wasn’t the biggest fan but I liked him enough to check in now and then. He’s become a fearmongering Branch Covidian now, ending each video with “WEAR THE MASK! GET THE JAB! STAY INSIDE! BE AFRAID!”

Fuck you, you bald faggot

He did briefly run a "podcast" which was him reading bedtime stories and poems, basically ASMR which he must have realized was stupid because he only did ten episodes:

He must have let those "omg ur voice is so nice/relaxing!!11!" comments stroke his ego or something.

I don’t hate this YouTuber, she seems totally normal and unproblematic but I really don’t like TheGirlWithTheDogs. She posts pretty short videos of her grooming dogs and cats that are pretty cute and silly, but she has a way of talking that drives me CRAZY. It’s like she speaks in run on sentences or something.
I’m kind of paraphrasing but it’s essentially… “this is bob. Bob is a spicy cat. I wash bob with my coconut shampoo and he wants to murder me. Then I dry bob with the hair dryer. He doesn’t like that.”

MrBallen. He covers interesting topics, and he's a decent storyteller. Then, at some point, he got really verbose. He would describe every, single, tiny detail of what a person was doing. Then, there are those stupid thumbnails with his fake shocked expression and big red arrow pointing at something spooky.

It is weird, though, that he just sprang up out of nowhere and started getting millions of views. I get kind of a strange vibe from him that I can't really explain. He apparently already had an audience on TikTok, but does that really translate into Youtube numbers?

I just wish he said what he wants to say in far fewer words, because I do enjoy the stories he talks about.

While I don't hate him, I didn't and don't care much for Anthony Padilla but I watch his content. It's up till recently I realized that I watched him the same reason why people watch late night for the guests, not the hosts.

8-Bit Guy: His content is enjoyable enough, but he has negative charisma. I'm overtaken by a sudden urge to stuff nerds in lockers when I watch his videos. On a side note: his casually mentioning that Pantera's Dimebag Darrell was his cousin is one of the biggest WTF? moments of my personal YouTube watching history.
I know what you mean. He's one of those YouTubers where I watch his videos despite him, rather than because of him. Someone with anti-charisma would be better served staying off-camera and letting the subject matter do all the talking.

One thing I'll give him credit for is that he was matter-of-fact about being Dimebag Darrell's cousin, and he hasn't mentioned it since.

It's definitely worth it to start cataloging material but the big problem I see with a Linus thread is that it would quickly devolve into A-logging and interracial sperging. Like you said, Linus gives blips on the radar rather than full-on meltdowns. However, it looks like he's starting to slowly but surely unwind and in a year or two should have some great thread material.
If there was such a thing as a watchlist for potential lolcows, Linus would be near the top. It's not a matter of if he has a meltdown but when.

Speaking of Simon Whistler, holy crap, I'm fucking sick of seeing his face all plastered over Youtube just because I watch a few documentaries.
Simon Whistler is the Linus of YouTube documentary makers.

For me it’s Nelk. I hadn’t heard of them until my old roommate would always bring them up and hype them up as these hilarious dudes who are 100% genuine. But later on when i heard some drama relating to them and i brought it up to my roommate, he went full dickrider mode and basically said “you’re just hatin” and “you’re jealous.”

IMO they just seem like just your standard group of douchetubers who do vlogs and pranks. They seem a bit shady with how they get they’re money too.

  • Agree
Reactions: GoPro
I mentioned this in the wrong thread previously but Luke Smith sounds like the kind of dude who gets lost in his own reflection, in the classical narcissistic way. Can't stand to watch any of his content over it.

I've got a few that I have negative impressions of. But honestly, that may not be entirely fair and I'd need to actually try to watch their stuff.

Jesse Cox - Remember when someone made a trap joke and he basically told his entire fanbase that if they find the guy they should kick him out? I mean, even if you think the trap thing is an inappropriate joke, isn't it kinda shitty and dangerous to send your entire fanbase after one guy? If he wasn't on "the right side" he'd be lectured about using his platform appropriately. Also, what kinda narcissist names a convention after themselves unironically?

RoosterTeeth - Sorry, never got into these guys so I may piss people off here. But the shit with Vic, then the whole stuff with RWBY writers taking over pissing over what could have been an alright show put a sour taste in my mouth. The fanbase might also leave a sour taste in my mouth. They're so obsessed with them and insist that they're doing amazing and that they're a media empire because they set up a website with a subscription that isn't even that good.

This might be unfair and it could be because I've not given them more of a chance. But usually these dramas inform you of the kind of person they are.

Like this clip, timestamped to 9:53, where he's criticizing Razer for lying about their keyboard switches, and he calls Razer out for saying "every gamer and his needs", and OOOOOOOOOOH that's bad because PRONOUNS, and Luke backs him up and seems to be even more serious about it than Linus
Would have put this in the last post but just saw this now.

What the fuck is it with people trying to tack on small issues onto bigger issues? It just dilutes the issue and make it more muddied, while also turning people off from it.

Manufacturer lies about a product that potentially has health implications on the customers who bought it but oh no they didn't use inclusive terminology here on their marketing material. Keep your messaging clear, none of this side bullshit.

It's like that Minecraft Youtuber who got in trouble recently (I think it was maybe abuse or something) but the document started with times that he said "nigga" in a private DM.

Honestly, I've pretty much stopped caring about YouTubers now. There were some that I used to enjoy watching, but now it's just.... eh.
  • I liked Scott The Woz for a little while, but I just ended up growing bored of his videos. Nothing personal against him, though.
  • LGR in general is alright, too, but I just got bored of the same-y content as well.
  • SomeOrdinaryGamers made some pretty good videos on more niche or technical topics that I liked, but I just cannot get behind all the general drama/news videos he does. Especially the ones where he's clearly just regurgitating topics that Cr1t1kal or Modern Vintage Gamer have covered. Huge shame, really.
  • I used to watch Vinesauce a lot when I was a teenager, but I think I just grew out of brand of humor. The Vinny drama from last year also really sucked.
  • Same deal with AVGN, although the newer videos are noticeably way worse than the older ones. However, even watching the older ones is whatever for me.
  • Jackfilms used to make more diverse and funnier content, but all the YIAYs just got super boring. He's definitely starting to teeter on towards lolcow-dom, too, especially after his meltdown about people shittalking about Erin's weight, and also the "Why I Hate Jacksfilms" video where he passive aggressively responded to criticism.
  • Davie504 used to make decent videos about playing bass; was just him shutting the fuck up and playing. Ever since he started talking with his grating and monotone voice, vomiting out the same phrases and memes over and over again, he's become unwatchable for me.
  • I used to enjoy I Hate Everything's silly rant videos, but ever since he basically became a film critic, I've stopped watching. Watching his old videos, though, they weren't anything great, either.

On the topic of YouTubers that are popular, but I can't fathom why people enjoy them...
  • PewDiePie used to make shitty let's plays and then later on started making shitty Reddit videos. Why is he the most subscribed to individual on the site?
  • MoistCr1t1kal is just boring, his videos are grating and his livestreams are bottom of the barrel tier shit.
  • Dhar Mann, pretentious fuck who makes "inspirational" videos with unrealistic plots. Titles are pretty lulzy, though.
  • Linus Tech Tips, also really annoying and just uncomfortable to watch. Anthony is the only person in the group that I can stand.
  • VTubers, particularly Hololive, are clearly just corporate puppets for their simp consoomer fanbase to sink money and attention into, all while being extremely uninteresting and/or annoying to watch.
  • Mr. Beast used to make videos making fun of kids' shitty video intros, but all of a sudden, he's now a super rich guy who does all these clickbait-y giveaways and challenges??
  • SSSniperWolf just makes shitty reaction videos, and yet YouTube loves to push her onto the front page for some reason.

At this point, I'm satisfied with just watching whatever random videos get recommended to me that pertain to my interests. Actively avoiding Twitter also helps.

Gamers Nexus is 2x better than LTT. They don't even compare.

VTubers actually look weird ngl. Their designs are kind of off putting (especially the eyes) and their faces all look the same to me. They're also pretty annoying most of the time, I really don't get the appeal.

Skydoesminecraft. That was in a document where his girlfriend was accusing him of serious domestic abuse when she was pregnant with his child. The document also had the girlfriend feel the need to add a justification for why she wouldn't refer to him as nonbinary.
