They count it as transphobic because it goes against their worldview, the situation in the UK is there’s multiple conflicting beliefs, there’s the old style gender dysphoria that people were getting used to, that being for example man who identifies as a woman and wants to pass as one but admits they are biologically male (And since the 90s the NHS has even paid for a sex change out of taxpayers money) versus the new you’re whatever gender you identify as no matter what even if it doesn’t make logical sense like a non binary lesbian.
And there’s also radical feminism versus troons which may be more unique to the UK, at least I’m assuming that’s the case since it seems to come as a surprise to Americans it’s so mainstream and that’s basically feminists gained a surprising amount of political influence over decades and currently push for things like abolishing prison sentences for women and making misogyny a hate crime as well as there being things like all female political shortlists in the Labour Party (Second biggest UK party) all of which is undermined if men can identify as women and it was a shock to them the trans lobby gained even more influence than them in a short period, so much influence they aren’t even able to openly criticise them without risking losing their job and reputation.
