Wow, we survived to another milestone btw. From almost getting banned for just posting in here to 4k posts and our final victory shall be Null becoming a vtuber himself, since he's already got his dog model ready and whatnot. I should check Matthew Harris' manifesto to see if he wrote anything about vtubers. Though he's probably wishing us all a blood cancer.

Also, would someone be kind to explain what does it exactly mean that holochannels are turning into "MCN"? Less stupid copyright strikes? No more cutting subs from new members?

As for the MCN similar to when Machinima was a thing it was an easier way to manage channels while also giving them some sort of legitimate status that comes with extra perks. Youtube is less inclined to fuck a channel over with demonetization nuke them to shit due to a massive copyright strike issue. They also get a dedicated Youtube rep to work with in case shit happens. Basically, all of the benefits boil down to some sort of insurance.

Obviously, the three members that streamed a POV with Hololive performed the best. Only Roberu performs better than NijiJP's least-subscribed male (Harusaki Air, 97K subs, 751 average ccv). This is WITH the backdraft of Western fans that latched onto them.

@SmugPeko's sentiment is more or less in parallel with mine: There is lots of bluster about wanting Holostars to perform better, but it feels like it's largely coming from people who aren't supporting them, either. They are literally performing comparably to the Nijis who didn't 'stick to the wall' as some would put it.

Yes people don't support them but at the same time, their own company doesn't either. Language barrier is the main issue in my case. If they were better integrated into the main group, their numbers would also grow as people would be more likely to see them on one of the girl's stream, think they are funny or entertaining and sub to them. Exposure will lead to more views/subs this is why people constantly talk about them being the bastard child locked in the basement.

Personally, I can't throw money on anyone, and no matter what stream I watch, I will have to rely on clips. But, let me tell you, I am always willing to find youtubers to watch. Before vtubers, the youtubers I watched were all male, now with vtubers I have female youtubers that I watch (the female vtubers that is), but I still want to watch men. That is how I grew up, that is what I want to do. I do not care if the youtuber has a facecam, is simply using his voice, has a png, or a live2D, I want a person whose videos are fun to watch. Yes, I get that people want HoloStars to collab more with HoloLive. But, if anything the boys have been appearing more on out of Holo stuff (like being guests in concerts for example), so pity collabs because of look how compassionate we are do not interest me. I believe in the boys and their own strength. They want to collab with someone, I want it to be by their own will, and enjoyment. I understand if people aren't interested in the idea of male vtubers at all. But, don't pretend that you give a shit, and are unable to even acknowledge how much they have done by themselves. They are entertainers, not a medium for you to boast how great of a person you are.

This is a vtuber discussion thread and Holostars are a vtuber thing to discuss about (especially now that Holostars EN seems pretty likely) besides just posting about whatever game our oshi just played or whatever?

You're right that nobody would be talking about them here if they weren't Cover. But nobody would be talking about most of the vtubers that get regularly talked about here if said vtubers weren't a part of Cover. Cover's kind of a big deal.

You're right in that if they were not under Cover's umbrella that I would not give a shit, but because I routinely watch Cover's productions, I do indeed know about them and wish they had more success. You seem to suggest that because a person cares about the success of something they like and are familiar with, and then doesn't care about something they don't care about, they are somehow wrong or have done a bad thing. I would not have given one fuck if the NijiEN boys were either more or less successful than anyone else because I am not invested in Niji, with the sole exception being Pomu for whatever reason. So yes, it does matter to me in some capacity. However, it is pretty retarded to suggest people care only because it is a portion of Cover that hasn't done as well, and that means we can't tribalfag as hard because there's a sore spot that we have to get rid of first.

As a side note, I don't understand your characterization of the people talking about this in the first place. "What is the obsession with Holostars" is an interesting way to phrase people just talking about a subject that is hardly discussed in the first place. It seems like it's just something you have an issue with, although that's just the feeling I get because I genuinely don't know what it could be that bothers you so maybe you can enlighten me.

Personally Holostars could all graduate at once and I wouldn't even care.

All I care about are Holo ENstars and the potential shenanigans and interactions they could have with the rest of the talent.
