I have a question for Canadian law kiwis, let's pretend the lawsuit injunction wasn't hilarious for other reasons. How the fuck is that enforceable? I assume the injunction is against "Freedom convoy" because how could you possibly sue an entire city full of people without them being informed? So now you need to prove any honking that you hear was the doing of the freedom convoy. Doesn't this just mean the organizers have to come out and say "plz stop honking if you are part of our group"?

Yeah I can't really imagine a scenario in which this actually survives even the slightest bit of legal scrutiny, even in the woke courts of Canada. Americans are spoiled by how well "due process" is enshrined into our legal system by powerful laws that are really hard to overturn, but similar concepts do exist in other nations and Canada likes to at least pretend to be civilized enough not to openly run kangaroo courts ("human rights tribunals" notwithstanding).

Like you said, the people the injunction is meant to apply to need to be informed of it in some formal, provable fashion before you can reasonably expect them to obey it. And obviously you can't just blanket-ban honking in the city because that's just fucking stupid (car horns serve a legitimate safety purpose and are in fact mandatory equipment for street-legal cars), so like you said they'll have to somehow try to prove any given honk is protest related and not, say, "holy shit you almost just rammed me from the side, jackass!"

This post (dat url lol-also Archive) does a good job of presenting the concerned tweets, screenshots, videos and critiques from the Twittersphere It also does provides a quick rundown of events and inconsistencies. What tenant encounters two self-identified protesters in the lobby of their apartment trying to light a fire in the wee hours of the morning and then decides to carry on their merry way ("That's all very good lads, thank for keeping the place nice and toasty for us. Goodnight~") without so much as calling the police? Combining the tweets and the video, I think that I may have successfully ID'd the apartment build where this took place.

Looking at the CCTV footage, we notice the caption "196 Metcalfe On Site - Rear Lisgar"

Popping this address into Google Maps brings as here:

However, if we compare the foyer to the screenshot of the CCTV footage below, you can see that several key features don't match up (for example, the front entrance is a single door versus the double doors we see in the screenshot).

When we go over to 225 Lisgar Street, Ottawa ON, things begin to look a lot more familiar.

Two steps leading up to the entrance and double doors. Looking closer, we see the elevator to the right along with a box mounted on the right-hand wall.

When we compare this video to the Google Maps image on the right, we can also confirm the that brick work and fencing (seen reflected in the door) are identical.

No idea who the arsons are yet, but I have a feeling they aren't who they claim to be.

Pre-pandemic is a vitally important detail. One of the insane things our government did which contributed to the protest is that you need a full molecular test plus some paperwork done on the ArriveCAN app/website to return to Canada after crossing into any other country, whether you've been gone for 2 months or 2 hours. Cross-border shopping is pointless because of this. There was an exemption for >72 hour trips but it was removed in December because of Omicron.
