There is a phenomenon I've been noticing more and more as time goes on that I've dubbed "The religion of Science" or "Science worshippers", I won't claim that I'm the first person to make that observation but it's something that I at least started to notice on my own. The phenomenon is identical to religious fundamentalism but replaces religious deities with the idea of Science and replaces religious figures and leaders such as imams, rabbis, priests, and saints, with "Scientists" and "Researchers". Instead of doing the responsible thing and questioning, rethinking, and testing in order to constantly expand their understanding as science traditionally demands they have instead given themselves over blindly to these new spiritual leaders and accepted their teachers as The Way, The Truth, and The Life, identically to how a religious fundamentalist will give themselves over entirely to a religious leader or text.

I believe that many of these people follow the Religion of Science and will not allow the "redneck truckers and blue collar proles" to take the credit for this since their Scientists and Researchers declared the vaccine good and so to admit they were wrong would be to admit a flaw in scripture, to admit that their beliefs are fallible and their leaders fallible.

It's all part of the same postmodern marxist way of thinking.

By the 1970’s it was blindingly apparent that Marx’s theories were wrong, and that their application always led to dictatorship and misery, not to mention massive deaths. So instead of admitting defeat, the Left turned to Postmodernism where facts don’t matter. They felt Marxism was Good, so it had to be. They turned it from an economic theory into a religion, complete with a paradise, an original sin, and Salvation.

The Science® is their religion, being white is an original sin, etc etc.

I heard an interesting take the other day, about underlying motivations. For the anti-vaccine side of the debate, you've got people saying that others should not take the mRNA jabs because they might be dangerous, i.e. you shouldn't take that because I'M WORRIED THAT YOU MIGHT GET HURT. For the mandatory vaccine side of the debate, they're talking about how the unvaccinated are a danger because they might be more likely to spread it to others (which is false, esp. w/ Omicron), my vax doesn't work unless you take it too, i.e. you must take the vaccine because I'M WORRIED THAT I MIGHT GET HURT. It kind of turns the "selfish anti-vax" narrative on its head.

At this point, I'm starting to think Pol fucking Pot had the right idea to force city bugmen pseudo-intellectuals into chattel slavery if not outright eliminate them in minecraft like he did.

My partner and I discussed the idea of this leading to a bad "Boy Who Cried Wolf Scenario" with the next more deadly pandemic and disagreed about WHO exactly has lessons to learn to avoid this; pro tip: it ain't the people.

The world needs to learn:
-Noone should trust China.

-The WHO kowtowing to them is egregious.

-The ostrazation of Taiwan and their successes due to their being political persona non-gratis illustrates the lack of scientific standard the WHO and their lapdogs harp on and on about.

-Leaving ex pats, travellers, and foreign vacationers out to dry and forebading of entry or reentry in to your country is a small price to pay for internal freedom.

Essentially what must be seen is that the ineffectiveness of 2 years of measures will only embolden the authority class to be more severe with it's citizens atthe drop of the hat... And the citizens will be less likely to accept any measure, regardless of how merited, on it's face.

I don't think these two things have to be mutually exclusive. He probably is both disgusted by the "incel" stereotype, and making an exaggerated public display of that disgust to show off to others because he benefits from it. What he's really doing is taking a rather non-controversial opinion (most people think incels are losers), and acting like it's something radical and brave.

Similarly, I think followers of The Science™ both truly believe that there is a single, universal, objectively correct conclusion to every issue, and feel the need to rub it in everybody's face so they can all pat each other's asses and reassure each other that they are all very smart, indeed. That's why a lot of them previously latched onto making fun of "vaccines cause autism" moms and flat-earthers.

This is somehow an anti-science position. They are so completely disconnected from hearing other points of view, because of the echo chambers they live in, they assume their moral stance is the scientific position.

It has been mentioned earlier, his shady past. Fun fact: I've met this dude numerous times in my very young youth being involved in the Canadian diy music scene. He's lost some weight and gained charges. Its funny the Brat Attack turned out to be a lot more Alek Minassian than Unibomber. I am surprised the guy even had a license.
