I have been thinking a little bit about that absolutely shoddy display of a Parliament debate that was witnessed last night and I have noticed a couple of things.
The main takeaway that is absolutely clear now is that the
Liberals have completely lost the plot.
All throughout the night with every Liberal MP that had the floor, the entire time their whole focus, was on Ottawa.
It was all about how the truckers are disturbing the peace in Ottawa. How the Ottawans can't live their normal lives. How the people of Ottawa are suffering.
Won't anyone think of Ottawa! they cried. Won't anyone think of the Children!
Meanwhile there was shockingly little mention of all the other events happening throughout the country. The various blockades, the numerous flash protests,; it's almost as if they didn't exist.
Then there was the back and forth bickering. The endless time spent debating on language and intent. Wasting everyone's time arguing about the most trivial points.
"My colleague, he thinks that this is a peaceful protest when it's really a blockade. "We need to make protesting like this illegal so that it doesn't happen in the future again." "Let me read you the emails of my people that cry about their endless sufferings of having to witness all the various sounds of the honks."
Ok, so the protest isn't peaceful.
Ok, so it's not a protest, it's an occupation.
Ok, so it's an illegal occupation.
Are the truckers now gone? Have we solved our crisis?
The convoy just got 10 kilometers longer. Slap Ambassador Bridge to that ever growing list.
And now let's exercise a hypothetical that the Liberals so desperately want.
Let's say they go straight for the nuclear option and call in the army by way of Invoking the War Measures Act.
So the military arrives, they arrest all the truckers, and throw them into the gulag. Then what?
You still have an entire blockade ahead of you. A blockade that probably has been prepared to be as immovable as possible the moment you commit to the full authoritarian route.
It's one thing to drag out heavy chunks of scrap metal one by one out of the city, it's a whole another story when you are trying to clear your borders as quickly as possible to not collapse the economy.
And that is assuming that a new convoy doesn't mobilize to barricade you in, start a new blockade, or that you don't just trigger an all out civil war.
This is also why the punishment issued by the weasel of a man that is the Transport Minister rings so hollow.
Just how many licenses do you need to revoke now?
10... 20... 50... 100... 1000... 5000... 10000...
And it's not just truckers now either, you also have farmers, miners, construction workers, tow truck drivers, etc.
Do you really have that many new workers that you can just replace on a whim to not plunge this whole country into an economic crisis?
And again that is assuming that more people don't mobilize to grow those numbers until you have to fire the whole country.
Case in point, the farmers that came into Toronto during the weekend are not in the city any longer nor are they at any of the blockades. So they are out there somewhere and judging how quickly they were able to assemble in Toronto to have a barbeque in the middle of Queen's Park all before the police could even lock it all down, pretty much shows that they can organize at a moment's notice to create a brand new headache if needed.
Finally I want to bring up a point that may have easily been missed.
A couple of the Liberal MPs used some very choice words during their speeches.
Once they brought out of the blue the phrase "my father was a trucker", they were singing the classic song of communism that I am all too familiar with.
And it's always the same pattern. Attempt to establish relatability by mentioning that someone in your family was of the people before immediately going into a story showing just how distanced and out of touch from reality they are from the people.
If you are a leaf, scrub through that debate and listen again to just the Liberal MPs and remember their names.
Because those speeches were a classic example of true communist propaganda.
Right now the Liberals are dancing around a very delicate issue and they are playing with fire.
They have absolutely no idea or are trying to willfully be ignorant to everything that is going on around them.
The Liberals really have no idea what they are dealing with.
As for the NDP, I am almost now fully convinced that every single NDP MP is just a malicious individual.
Every single time, the moment they opened their mouths, within the first sentence it was always brought to the topic of hate.
It was so blatant and comical that they had to have been reading a script prepared for them.
They 100% deserve their leader, because that is all the turban would ever talk about. It doesn't matter the topic, the issue, the side, he always brings every conversation down to some perceived hate.
I
despise the NDP with a fiery passion.
