All that's left is a talk of civil war in terms of who runs the show. Star Wars has The Fandom Menace, Funimation has to deal with #IStandWithVic.

How big do you think Funimation’s fan base is in relation to the entire anime community? Do you think it’s a majority or a minority?

Based on my observations, the people who still like and support Funimation are in the majority. I mean they continue to thrive and grow and that doesn’t happen to companies who have very few consumers.

It's not a majority.
It's actually smaller than you think.
Ask anime fans in Germany if they know what Funimation is and are a fan.
France.
Turkey.
India.
South America.
JAPAN.
Maybe a majority in America since Funimation is the biggest fish in the pond in American anime distribution, but not worldwide.

They continue to grow because they are under Sony's umbrella, which has absorbed Madman Anime Group, Wakanim, and now Crunchyroll to compete with the likes of Netflix. It is SONY wanting to hold a major claim in the market. Funimation would have probably never become this big had Sony not bought them.

Funimation has a tiny to non-existent fanbase.
The anime they have licenses to, has a large fanbase.

If you gave all their licenses to another company tomorrow, very few people would care. To be clear, this is true of most any anime company in the west, none of them have this massive, devoted following, they just either have good titles or they don't.

A little fun fact, Wakanim (aka Waka) is the baguette streaming service used to have high quality DRM free downloads, which led it to ironically having a bit of a fanbase among anime piracy communities.

For those who don't understand why Waka USED to have "high quality DRM free downloads"... Funi later bought Waka. And with that, died the little fanbase Waka had.
