They can, the main issue really is that are most of their regular audience going to watch it in the first place.

The literary detectives of a century ago (Amelia's not a "real" detective) were less race-conscious than a demographically similar person is today. They had less use for it. Crime was very rarely interracial, little of political life was race-focused, and almost none of a detective's work was understood as political (until Mickey Spillane's books, and he was hated for reducing the genre to that).
Villains in detective stories were often characterized as race-obsessed weirdos—to let you know they're villains. Just like on TV! The Mormons in A Study in Scarlet were even meaner to blacks than the real Mormons were; Fu Manchu and his gang were psychotically anti-white; etc.
People are just dumber now.

I'm gonna toss in a random point here: I imagine it's partially for comedy of course, but also since like.. Smackdown vs Raw 2010 or around there, WAHMENS basically can't compete in shit in the games match types. It went from being able to make them "weigh" 200-300 pounds while looking buxom and thin and able to use any moves to basically not being able to use female wrestlers in anything that wasn't woman vs woman, male + female manager, or bra and panties matches. So no weapons, cages, etc. Also they can't get their head busted open to start bleeding. Not very progressive in hindsight: current years dictates men should be able to compete with other true wimminz
Now I'll admit that COULD have changed in the last 12 or so years though I doubt it. I stopped caring around the time that happened because I didn't care about wrestling THAT much. The games were fun with a friend or two, but after the changes I stopped caring because I couldn't chokeslam big show with a chick who would likely snap in half backwards even attempting to lift him. Which in turn made abusing a one of said friends less amusing. Not curious enough to dl whatever one was free for PS+ somewhat recently to check lol
As a general reply to the recycling of a recent topic- PENIS HAVURS: I'll admit I'm part of "the problem" in that I don't actually watch Holostars due to language barrier, but I still want them to get good success. They all seem like good bros who put in their effort. Same thing with the NijiEN dudes. Yeah I don't run around chasing after them, but often when they show up in a stream it's a pretty funny time, and they lead to some solid clips just like the Stars can.
Edit: I didn't elaborate, but no I don't care about them collabing. Though it being permanent or always can get old too. Just gotta balance it out a bit.
I kind of appreciate that Phase Connect went ahead and just tossed this VERY seiso showing on it's own main channel.
