Canadian Truckers Convoy 2022 - The Leaf calls you a Nazi as he gasses you

Alright. Looks like you are correct.

Either way, none of the restrictions that have been implemented anywhere have been enacted via the Oakes test, rendering them unlawful. No new laws have been enacted, meaning the authority of the Notwithstanding Clause has not been used. Further, only the Federal Government or a "regional" Legislature may enact laws via the Notwithstanding Clause, rendering anything done by a municipality unlawful.

Everything has been done using "Public Health Orders" as a work-around to bypass the constitution.

The funny thing about those hate speech laws is that they don't pass the Oakes test, either. They're subsections of the Criminal Code of Canada and any time I have looked, neither those specific sections nor the entire act itself meet the standard that the law can only run for a maximum of five years. I understand the concept of automatic renewal clauses, but nothing like that is expressed in the Criminal Code either.
Although the feds have not invoked the Emergencies Act (because that requires consent from the mostly-conservative premiers, and when Trudeau asked, they told him to fuck off), I think most of the provincial mandates are technically legal on the basis of provincial states of emergency. Idk about your jurisdiciton, but I believe my province's public health extraordinary powers bullshit is nested into the state of emergency, which is why they refuse to lift it even though there is no emergency.

The premise of a state of emergency is that there is a pressing emergency, such as a major natural disaster or terrorist attack, which may require a faster response than the legislature is capable of legislating. That's fine, and those provisions should probably be there for when they are genuinely needed, but the laws are being abused in terms of the spirit of what the law is for. I cannot speak definitively about all provincial jurisdictions in Canada, but for many, a state of emergency is, by law, two weeks long, and then it ends. Where it gets silly is that, two years in, they will have renewed the state of emergency about 50 times in a row. There is absolutely no way that there are new, emergent aspects of this "emergency," two years into this. Whatever needs to be done can and must be done legally through the legislature. The reason this is technically legal is because the provincial state of emergency laws are written extremely poorly. It should obviously be illegal for a state of emergency to be renewed ad infinitum, along with all the suspensions of our rights and liberties that entails.

I think an interesting legal model can be found in the EU, of all places. They have the Schengen Area for visa-free travel, and they really do not want to suspend that because it kind of breaks the EU. Nevertheless, they have an emergency suspension clause that can be activated in an emergency. Those who designed this law, as aforementioned, really did not want this to be abused and renewed ad infinitum, so there is a built-in sunset clause. They have an initial use, then it can be renewed a certain amount up to a soft limit where certain legal tests need to be met, if met then it can be renewed a bit more, and finally it is automatically cancelled if it goes too long. I would be in favour of changing Canadian provincial state of emergency law in this manner, because there is clearly no emergency by definition,
emergency (plural emergencies)
The quality of being emergent; sudden or unexpected appearance; an unforeseen occurrence.
and yet it keeps getting renewed for years straight because politicians are addicted to their emergency powers, and there are seemingly no checks/balances in place to make them go back to normal.

The internet has the power to turn anyone with enough braincells and motivation into a genuine polymath. I have learned musical instruments, how to build/fix things, how to pick locks, how to code, etc etc all for basically free from the internet. Yet somehow it's just used as a path to porn, vidya, hugboxes, and outrage fuel by most people today.

It boggles my mind how so many people aren't self sufficient, especially when outside of literal disability there is no excuse to not be a god damned renaissance man. I'll bet most of that trucker crowd has more real skills than anyone whining from their pod, both from their job and from using the internet as a tool and invaluable resource to get whatever shit they wanna do in their spare time done. I like to think every honking canuck is another AvE, bless that man and his many talents.
They don't understand that man has the ability to not need to be told where he's useful but find it himself and self start. if a machine replaces you your just outdated equipment. if it displaces you move and find a new space because thats what people do.

Do you agree slavery was correct then? because compelled labor is compelled labor the government is just the one with a whip and we're all a bunch of niggers then
Some sorts of slavery are correct if it stops businesses from discriminating against me because of my race, gender, or political ideology. Isn't it slavery to make banks process GiveSendGo's payments? Isn't GoFundMe good since they liberated themselves from the slavery of serving people they don't agree with?

Maybe it's just cos I grew up with two sensible parents, but fuck me I cannot imagine living life like that. Is it not just normal to walk around thinking "what can I be doing to add value here? how can I make shit easier for everyone?" ?

yes it would be, except for the voluntary contract they entered into at the start. A contract isn't compelled that's coercion and a nullifier to one. yes some people may suck, would you and yours patronize that place? And then why is it wrong to force them to get the shot? have a principal or accept the pozzing. man's nature is to be free and that means free to be a dick.

who the fuck said anything about anyone else? and if you can't think of a few ways to get paid you belong under the lower middle management boot in the wage cage.

Along with this, most of those "frontline workers" are working in the numerous Metro Detroit hospitals. I highly doubt there are many American nurses working in Windsor's hospitals. If they want to make American money they could live in the US and save the commute.
The commute is worth saving 30% on everything including housing plus free healthcare and the comparative utopia of Windsor compared to life in Detroit.

Hey, some if it is perfectly cromulent if you put it together right. It's the best cheap option there is imo, plus if anything breaks they'll usually send you a replacement part for free. If you can't get a replacement then go buy some timber from the hardware store and hop to it. Repeat that enough times and you've basically just used your Ikea shit as a scaffold for making your own furniture from scratch, and I think that's neat.
Another good idea is to immediately reinforce it once you've built it - get some cheap L-brackets and short, fat screws so you don't punch through the chipboard. Shore up all of the 90 degree corners and for Christ's sake never drag Ikea furniture, or transport it without disassembling it first. I don't even like to carry it through a house because it almost always fucks it up: the hardware can't handle shear forces.

Hey man I'm agreeing with you, those type of questions are how you land on novel shit to sell to the masses. Gotta worry about everyone else because they'll be your customers

Because in the real world, people can collude and make sure they keep colluding. What's to stop international "health" NGOs from handing out free money to businesses enforcing vaxx passes or hiring Antifa thugs to smash up and defame businesses who don't? Do you know why the US made discrimination illegal with the Civil Rights Act? Because they knew businesses in some places would keep discriminating and they'd hire KKK thugs to smash up anyone race traitoring and serving nigras.

This sort of reasoning just leads to a place where only the rich and powerful can enjoy "freedom" like today's world. Libertarian nonsense like this is basically inverted communism, where you're either a naive idealistic fool or an already powerful bastard using it to keep exploiting the world. It turns out that sometimes, freedom actually is slavery

They are already doing that, you can't kick them out and god forbid you not want one of the antifa fags in your business guess what you get hit with. Defamation and assault are crimes you go to jail. Your issue is the person who's doing it is being a jerk about it. Yes some people would have kept discriminating is forcing people who don't want to be near each other working out well today? The governments forcing it down your throat with a total monopoly of force and there is no private enterprise do to regulatory capture.

Lol you know, your joking but someone would buy it.

The only way to not be a cuck and be for free speach is to also be pro discrimination. Discrimination is what enables practical free speech, by keeping people out who'd say things you'd want to restrict, and keeping stupid subversive ethnic grievance shit from mattering even if someone says it. It's the only way any liberal concept works well for people in practice. Otherwise all it does is enable subversion and corruption, and ultimately the anarchotyranny we have today. I mean is it really that surprising a conclusion when every single mainstream republican has been a cuck for at least four decades?

Freedom is racist, certainly to them at least. The way I'd put it is reality discriminates. If people are left to discriminate for themselves, their immediate lives typically get better, because they know their local situation better than any desk ridden bureaucrat or sociology professor, but then we don't get the gay amerimutt space dystopia that maximizes control for the oligarchs.

I hate political terms, always shape shifting bullshit. But more or less the moneyed powers that survived the world wars always leverage grievance groups to break down and co-opt companies and other entities that refuse to play ball with their bullshit and they knew full well what they were doing as they imported enough cattle and had enough kids sexually traumatized to use race and mental illness instead of economic class. This is one of the primary reasons these moneyed powers are abjectly evil, because they seize power by creating more problems than they solve. Like a parasite.

We don't have to live in this false dichotomy of communism vs capitalism, you know. I'd like us to remember the absolute state capitalism was in in 2008 when they pulled this switch. I'd also like to suggest that capitalism is fundamentally tied, and even destined, to become communism, or rather a managerial state. Like governments will form in anarchy, monopolies will form in a free market, which over time turn in to oligarchs (the US government hardly even tried to prevent this from happening) which will then subsume the government. Communists, as they're called, and neocons for that matter, seem to exist to more or less direct this transformation in a way that protects international finance, and to keep people from collectively realizing they can get off this ride. I mean as Woopie Goldberg herself tried to tell us, WW2 wasn't about race, it was about international finance. It was about race only in so far as the territory of international finance happened to be occupied by particular sorts (though the Germans were using the opportunity to do a little eugenics too, but what you're taught in school would have you believe that was the primary motive).
Capitalism is small business and free markets. Once you have large corporations that are granted special privileges and are allowed to influence, guide, or even purchase policy from the government, you've crossed the bridge into Corporatism, which is just another word for Fascism.

If the government didn't prop them up most of those big corps. would collapse and fall in on themselves though.

Also to end my ‘everyone point and laugh at stupid Communists’ rant the next time you meet one ask them how Marx saw Communism coming about? Answer: he never figured it out. He decided it would be helped along by The Party somehow but not how capitalism would fail or what the superior Collectivist system would look like before he croaked. Result: there is no one standard set for what a successful Communist government is supposed to be BECAUSE NO ONE FINISHED THE FUCKING THEORY BEFORE IMPLEMENTING IT. This has led to hilarious times like the holodomor, the Great Leap Forward, the famines of North Korea, and can’t forget those fun times in glorious Venezuela. So yeah capitalism may not be the best system in the world and I won’t be one to rah rah for it but anyone past a teenager wearing a Che Guevara shirt is a laughable loser.
