Is there just a clinic in CA that deals with only stds, only see patients with an active std? I don't know if Canada has hippa, but usually you have to give consent for a doctor's office to even leave a message. It looks like it's a private clinic that really only does STD screening, and offers services to people with or without provincial healthcare. Which is strange in the first place, since if Nader has permanent residence, he should have healthcare. Maybe it was just more convenient, but any walk-in clinic, public or private, would offer STD screenings, or at least refer you to a lab that could do blood draws, etc.

I don't even need to comment on how convenient this all is for Chantal. But to be fair, I guess I don't need to comment on how improbable her story is to begin with.

The clinic that called was the CLSC, centre local de services communautaires. They're a network of free community health clinics that provide services like vaccinations, STI testing, addiction help to people like refugees, the homeless, and other people who fall through the cracks of the Canadian healthcare system. They could have been calling for any number of reasons, not just STI results. They might play it a little fast and loose there, because getting in contact with their clients may be tough at times.

Which is understandable, but also a bad idea. The populations they serve -- immigrants, indigents, etc. -- are among the most vulnerable to things like trafficking and abuse.

Like, gender-swap this call Chantal supposedly got. You call your female patient and her number's disconnected. So you try her emergency contact and it's a dude. He might be her best friend, her uncle, or her boyfriend. He might also be her pimp, her abusive husband (who shut off her phone as a control mechanism) or someone else who's going to make her life difficult for being a dirty whore who got the clap. Who knows?

It's a balancing act because you have an obligation to reach people who you know are infected, but you have to be so careful about putting them in further danger. I believe most places fall on the side of confidentiality and protecting their patients, though. Maybe they assessed Nader as being low risk for this kind of thing, so they felt okay with leaving messages with random people who answer phones that aren't actually his.

She says she turned off his phone and he in turn blocked her everywhere and I got the impression that DD did too. Not that I blame them, or her for turning off the phone. This is just her trying to hit at both of them because she has nothing else. She knows she's this humongous, disgusting, bald, ugly woman. She knows she had to pay Nader to be around her and he likes being around other women, including DD. So like the juvenile that she is, she picks on DD's name, because she has nothing else. DD isn't a small woman and she's not devastatingly gorgeous, but when you look at both women without filters, she is the better looking of the two. If she put 10 tons of filters on like Chantal does, it wouldn't be as easy for Chantal to hit on her looks...but Chantal doesn't want to face that. Chantal is blaming DD for Nader moving back to Montreal, where apparently he lived in the past, and not wanting to be around her anymore. I am strictly a lurker. Just popping in to say I have lived in Ottawa and while I am not familiar with the clinic Chantal mentioned, there are stand alone sexual health clinics in Ottawa and other larger Canadian cities. They are not likely to be private unless it is a fertility medicine practice that offers IVF. They are usually community/charity based clinics.

I volunteered at one in British Columbia. Anyone can use them, but only for sexual or reproductive health needs. The doctors and staff work in them on a rotational and volunteer basis.

The purpose of the one I volunteered at was to lower barriers to people getting tested and addressing their sexual health (don't have to tell the doc you have had since you were 5 why you are there, teens can walk in and get condoms without questioning, etc). They also provide women a place to get a timely PAP if their GP is booked up for weeks.

These clinics also offer same day appointments which if someone is freaking out about maybe having an STI or an unplanned pregnancy is more convenient than waiting for a GP appointment. Also lots of Canadians in major cities lack access to a GP because demands has out stripped supply. So for sexual and repro needs they hit up these stand alone clinics.

Chantal lies, but if there is a community sexual health clinic with someone named Melanie nearby, it is possible she is telling the truth. My experience was lots of people with GPs still used the clinic I volunteered at for STI testing, and birth control needs. We just asked if they could, when possible, donate a few dollars to the clinic as it ran on charity bucks and volunteer time.

As to this "Melanie" looking for Nader, I'm not sure but I think ON Public Health has a specific protocol for gonorrhea because of its virulence and anti-biotic resistance which may mean they are more open to asking how they can find someone potentially infected but it has been awhile since I had to know those rules. He may have written down Chantal's number as an alternate number on his intake form or as an emergency contact. And if his phone is off as she claims perhaps they called the other numbers associated with him. No idea. I would say there is a nugget of truth in her story surrounded by lies and just the usual Chantal articulating how events happened in a very convoluted way based on her own misunderstanding and want to spin the narrative.
